Lollapalooza Line Up Officially Leaked

I think someone’s getting  fired.

Last month, word started to spread over who might be making it to the bill for Chicago’s famous Lollapalooza  Thanks to a currently leaked list that made it onto the internet, any surprise that the masterminds and promoters behind the event might be hoping for have been squashed.

When a source told The Chicago Tribune that Mumford & Sons, The Killers, Phoenix and Vampire Weekend would probably be headliners for the festival, word quickly started to spread. It looks like that source really knew what they were talking about because all four have been confirmed as well as 80’s bands The Cure and New Order.

See the full list of performers right here:

Lollapalooza will take place from August 2-4 at Grant Park in Chicago while the official reveal of the headliners is suppose to take place on Monday.

OK Go

OK Go may be remembered as the band that made their own treadmill starring, DIY video a few years back that blew people’s minds because of its simplicity, yet originality. Now the group are back asking fans to compete in order to have them direct their new music video.

The band has partnered with Saatchi & Saatchi, Talenthouse, and BUG for a contest aimed at new directors searching for exposure in their field. The Saatachi & Saatachi Music Video Challenge has collaborate with artists such a Moby in the past and now they are looking to do the same thing with OK Go.

Their latest challenge is going on right now all the way through early-May, so that prospective directors have enough time to get to know the track, “I’m Not Through,” in some detail. While the band are known for DIY videos, they’ve decided to leave it to those who want to pursue this as a potential career.

For all those interested in this one of a kind opportunity, you can visit the Saatachi & Saatachi website right here.

Jimmy Fallon Covers The Lumineers

cluck

The Lumineers have officially made it.

As if getting playfully hit in the face by Sir Elton John (it happened to drummer, Jeremiah Fraites at the Grammys) didn’t secure the Colorado-based indie band a place in pop culture then Jimmy Fallon, Blake Shelton and Parks & Recreation star, Nick Offerman covering their hit song, “Ho Hey” may have done it.

Just in time for Easter, the late night host and his group of clucking friends formed The Chickeneers and covered the top 100 hit song on Fallon’s show.

Check out the video right here and have a little bit of a clucking laugh yourselves.

‘CBGB’ Movie Poster Unveiled

CBGB-movie-poster-620_620_400_70

As if the “50,000 bands. One disgusting bathroom” doesn’t scream rock and roll then I don’t know what does.

Yesterday, the poster for the upcoming film was released via their Facebook page. The movie which stars Alan Rickman, Malin Ackerman, Ashley Greene and pretty much everybody in the world tells the story of the famous former New York rock club staple in the early years and how it went from being a bluegrass club to the accidental birthplace of punk music in America.

If you’re not familiar with the club and it’s origins, you can read a slight history of the club or better yet what the movie is going to focus on right here:

“CBGB follows the story of Hilly Kristal’s (played by Alan Rickman) New York club from its origins as Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock ‘n’ roll and punk. Kristal, a fan of country and bluegrass dreamed of having a club in the lower Eastside that catered to that kind of music. When he had difficulty booking those bands he turned to other kinds of rock music. Hilly had one demand of the acts he booked: They could only play their own original music. No top 40’s, no covers. It was the credo he lived by: Support the artist at whatever the cost.”

But apparently not everyone is thrilled with how the club will be perceived on film. The Village Voice are at the head of the “we hate this film” club being quoted as saying, “If you’re the type of cynical punk asshole who thinks the movie about CBGB can’t be anything but terrible, well GOOD NEWS, the movie’s poster essentially proves you right.”

Guess you can’t always satisfy everyone, right? CBGB will hit theaters sometime this year.

Rick Ross Underfire Over Rape Lyric

rick_ross_bet_hip-hop_awards_-_h_2012

We all know that rappers have the tendency to put their foot in their mouths when it comes to rapping on their tracks, but now it looks like Rick Ross has done the same, but ten ties worse.

Ross is coming under fire when the lyrics to his song, “U.O.E.N.O,” appears to condone date rape. The line, “put Molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.” Now the rapper is trying to back pedal during a radio interview on 93.3 in New Orleans.

“Woman is the most precious gift known to man. And there was a misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation,” he said. “I would never use the term rape in my records, in my lyrics. And as far as my camp, hip-hop don’t condone that, the streets don’t condone that, nobody condones that,” the rapper added.

Currently there is petition being passed around to encourage Reebok to drop Ross as a spokesperson due to the line from the song.

“We are appalled that Reebok would pay a spokesperson who brags about enjoying drugging and raping a woman,” said Nita Chaudhary, co-founder of the women’s rights group UltraViolet, in a recently released statement. “Reebok devotes a lot of time, energy and money to marketing to women—and now they are paying a man who is literally bragging about raping us while absurdly insisting it can’t possibly be rape if he doesn’t use the word ‘rape.'”

The petition which was started by Chaudhary’s UltraViolet group, currently has accumulated 51,000 signatures in less than 15 hours. No word from Reebok about the petition or the controversial lyric.

Demi Lovato to Return to ‘X-Factor’

demiandsimon

Many were speculating that pop star, Demi Lovato would be leaving The X-Factor after the season ended. Fellow judges, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears both said, ‘see you later’ to the series once the season had come to an end.

Spears was apparently voted out because she was too boring of a judge and thought that it was time to concentrate more on what she is famous for, putting out decent albums (let’s pretend that Scream and Shout song doesn’t exist, okay?). L.A. Reid on the other hand, decided to leave on his own accord to concentrate on his day job, being the chairman of Epic Records.

Lovato was believed to be following in her fellow judges’ path, but it looks like she will once again be joining Simon Cowell at the judges’ table for season three of the show.

“She’s a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year,” Cowell said in a press release. “Even though she can be really, really annoying – I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists.”

No definite date has been given for the return of The X Factor, but the show will be back sometime in the Fall.

Lil’ Wayne Reveals He’s Epileptic

weezy

In what should be considered no surprise, Lil’ Wayne has revealed that he is in fact epileptic and prone to seizures.

During an interview with Power 106’s DJ, Felli Fel, the rapper said that he feels “100 percent now” but also said that he does suffer from epilepsy and is prone to seizures.

“This wasn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh…I have had a bunch of seizures, you just never hear about them,” he said when talking about his episodes on the station. While he does say he’s had previous attacks, he mentions that none of them have been as bad as the one he suffered two weeks ago which included having three seizures in a row.

“My heart rate went down to 30 percent,” he said. “I have people around me who know how to handle it. This time was real bad because I had three back to back and the third one was so bad.”

Reports and rumors say that the trifecta of seizures was caused by Weezy “sippin’ on the codeine,” but he says that the cause of the seizures was nothing more than “plain stress and no rest.”

But things are looking up for the Young Money head, his new album was just released this past Tuesday and he has just announced that he will be heading out on his “America’s Most Wanted” tour with friend, T.I. starting in July.

Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory) Collapses on Stage

NFG

In what can be the coolest rock story to tell you kids in the future, New Found Glory guitarist  Chad Gilbert reportedly collapsed on stage last night after he was electrocuted.

Last night, New Found Glory were performing at Anaheim club, Chain Reaction when according to accounts from the show Gilbert got an electric shock from a microphone. According to a photographer from Purevolume, Gilbert was taken backstage and checked out while the band continued to perform without him.

The crowd was eventually told that Gilbert was fine, but that he would not be returning to the stage for the rest of the evening.

Gilbert finally responded to fans about the what happened on Twitter, thanking them for the love and support.

After posting the quick Twitter update, Gilbert went on to release a statement about what happened at Chain Reaction yesterday that caused him to get electrically shocked.

“While recording the NFG live album at the chain reaction last night I was shocked by the microphone. In between songs I grabbed the mic to speak and when I did it felt like I couldn’t let go. I was being shocked and it froze me in place and when I was able to release my hands off of the mic I collapsed. When I came to I had friends standing over me and it felt like I was asleep in one of those Sci Fi movies when they wake up after traveling for 3 years to fight an alien. My friends escorted me off the stage. I told the band to finish the set for the sake of the audio recording. At that point I still was in a daze. The ambulance came and picked me up and drove me to the nearest Emergency Room. After getting numerous tests off and on for about 12 hours from the friendly people at UC Irvine I was released. They checked my heart for most of that time to make sure the electrical current didn’t make my heart beat irregularly. Everything came back positive.
I am gonna play the show tonight but this time with a wireless to settle my paranoia of this happening again because man it hurt and sucked.

Thanks to all my friends and fans around the globe for the sweet messages!”

New Found Glory is slated to take the stage again tonight at Chain Reaction for day two of the recording session.
