Evanescene Announce Shift in Line-Up

Now that Evanescence has returned from their long break, the band has revealed some big news having to do with a shift in their line-up.

Earlier in the day (Aug. 7), the Arkansas-based band took to Facebook to break the news that longtime guitarist, Terry Balsamo, was no longer a part of the band. Though they did not elaborate on why Balsamo departed the group, they did “wish [Terry] all the happiness, health, and love in the world!”

With the departure of Balsamo, the band also revealed that they had already chosen someone to fill in the vacancy. Traveling all the way to South Germany, the group found Jen Majura, a singer/guitarist who they claim was the band’s “missing piece.” Majura, according to the letter, “plays like a supervillan, sings like an angel, and laughs like a great friend.”

Check out the complete letter from Facebook below.

“We have big news to share.

After 2 albums, countless adventures around the world and on the stage, Terry’s time with Evanescence has come to an end. As difficult as that is, we stand unified knowing it’s the right thing for all of us. We will ALWAYS love you, Terry, and wish you all the happiness, health, and love in the world!

Now for the exciting part of this announcement: Ladies and gentlemen, meet Jen Majura.

After scouring the globe, I found Evanescence’s missing piece in South Germany. She plays like a supervillan, sings like an angel, and laughs like a great friend. We spent a few days together last week in New York sharing eerily familiar life stories, sushi, artistic inspiration, other people’s shoes, and SO many laughs! (Yeah, okay, and maybe there were a couple of stiff drinks mixed in there)

We are all so excited to play together this fall and bring the show to a whole new level. CAN’T WAIT! I know you will show her all the love and respect a strong, talented woman deserves. I couldn’t be happier to welcome our new sister to the band.

P.S. This is the time to be shouting out setlist requests, we’re working on it now  Anything is possible! So bring it!!!”

Evanescence is set to perform three United States show this Fall before their huge “welcome back” gig at Japan’s Ozzfest on Nov. 21.

It’s official, music festival season is upon us.

After last night’s rapid-fire release from Riot Fest, we thought we would be able to recuperate before another festival would give us their line-up, but Fun Fun Fun Fest had other plans.

The line-up includes acts like: D’Angelo, CHVRCHES, ScHoolboy Q, NOFX, American Football, Conor Oberst’s Desaparecidos, and a couple of artists who appear to be heading out on the music festival circuit this year, Wu Tang Clan, Coheed and Cambria, and Dwarves.

Jane Addiction and Gogol Bordello are also slated to appear. Each band will be performing an album in full; Jane Addition will perform 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual while Gogol Bordello will perform 2005’s Gypsy Punks.

Riot Fest Announce 2015 Toronto Line-Up

It’s starting to feel a lot like music Christmas thanks to Riot Fest unveiling the first wave of artists for their Toronto dates, set to take place on Sept. 19 and Sept. 20 at Downsview Park..

Wu-Tang Clan, Frank Turner, Alexisonfire, and Thrice are just some of the big names heading to Canada for the weekend-long festival.

But don’t get too upset that some artists have been left off the initial release; apparently five names are going to be kept a secret until June 16.

For now, check out the mighty jammed line-up below and if you live in Canada or want to make the trek to Toronto for the show, we suggest buying your tickets after you check out the list.

UPDATE:

Well, the official line-up for this year’s Austin City Limits Festival has been revealed and lets just confirm that the vast majority of the line-up that was leaked on Sunday evening were in fact scheduled to appear at the festival with the exception of the Foo fighters actually performing on both weekends.

If Austin City Limits Music Festival was trying to keep their 2015 line-up a secret, then maybe they need to have a little conversation with their website person about letting the secret out of the bag two days before the official announcement was set to happen.

Last night (May 3), the line-up for both weekends of the music festival was leaked online, with the website’s link circulating the interweb. Quickly after the “mistake,” the post was taken down and now an “Oops, we’re not finding the page you’re looking for” message is appearing, but not before people took to the internet to spread the word and of course screen cap the information.

Sucks for them and their surprise, great for the people who were on the fence about going.

Weekend one will feature performances from: the Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Drake, The Weeknd, Disclosure, Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, The Decemberists, Chance the Rapper, ASAP Rocky, Billy Idol, Run the Jewels, TV on the Radio, Brandon Flowers, Brand New, Father John Misty, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Gary Clark Jr., Royal Blood, Jose Gonzalez, and Daughter, along with deadmau5, Bassnectar, Hozier, and Of Monsters and Men.

Weekend two will have an almost exact line up except with a few changes. Instead of The Strokes, Modest Mouse will take their place and Florence and the Machine were added to the already packed line-up.

Check out the full (leaked) line-up below.

Reading and Leeds Unveil 60+ New Artists to 2015 Line-Up

image

Just when we though Reading and Leeds had finished unveiling their complete line-up for the 2015 incarnation of the yearly festival, organizers has officially given the completed line-up today.

Back in February when organizers released the flyer for the weekend-long event, a big chunk of the line-up had been revealed making some assume (like us) that those were all the people heading to the United Kingdom for the Bank Holiday. One thing that did not escape us were the two “special guest TBA” spots and the promise that a lot more acts would be added.

Now, those vacant spots have been revealed as well as over 60+ new acts that include Alt-J, Against Me!, The Gaslight Anthem, AWOLNATION, Modern Baseball, The Bots, Atreyu, PVRIS, and many more.

Check out the new additions to the line-up below.

Reading and Leeds will take place during the weekend of August 28-30. Tickets are on sale, but if you haven’t already purchased them already, it might be a good idea to do so now or really soon.

Lollapalooza 2015 Complete Line-Up Revealed

While most of the music festivals that will be coming our way this Summer have already announced their line-up, Lollapalooza was waiting until the time was right to unveil their own line-up.

This morning, the Chicago-based event revealed their complete line-up. The 2015 incarnation of the annual festival will include Florence + The Machine and Paul McCartney as headliners. Funny enough, Florence and McCartney have both become music festival staples this year.

Metallica, Sam Smith, Of Monsters and Men, Twenty One Pilots, Brand New, Walk The Moon, and many more will also be joining the newly announced list.

Check out the complete list of performers below which instead of being a boring poster, Lollapalooza decided to turn it into a gif. Welcome to the 21st century.

Lollapalooza will return to Chicago’s Grant Park during the weekend of July 31-August 2.

Three-day general admission passes are long gone, but the festival organizers did advise that single day passes will go on sale beginning on today at 10 a.m. CT, so get on it quickly if you plan on attending this year’s event.

Canada’s Amnesia Rockfest Announce Tenth Anniversary Line-Up and Reunions

Canada’s Amnesia Rockfest will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in a big way this year with artists like System of a Down, Linkin Park, The Offspring, and Slayer making the trip to Montebello, QC for the weekend-long festivities.

But even with the big name headliners for this year’s event, it looks like the theme might be reunions and anniversaries. One of the several bands reuniting this year at the show will be Thrice, who officially said good-bye to fans in 2012.

Late last year, the band posted a cryptic photograph on their social media accounts with the band’s name and “2015.” Since then, there have been no updates unless you count frontman Dustin Kensrue releasing a new song yesterday or drummer Riley Breckenridge being part of Angels and Airwaves.

The new year is a month and a half in and it looks like one of the big things coming for them in 2015 is a reunion at the show. The timing of the reunion couldn’t come at a better time for fans of the California band since their fourth studio record, Vheissu, turns ten in October.

Sadly, this is as close as we have gotten to any updates from the Thrice camp.

But don’t leave it to Thrice to have all the fun during the weekend; Refused, From Autumn to Ashes and Atreyu will all be reuniting during the weekend-long festival. but like we said, it seems Amnesia is taking a page out of Riot Fest’s book and having bands performing some important albums from their discography in full.

The Offspring will perform Americana, the Deftones will perform Around the Fur and Rancid will perform…And Out Come the Wolves.

Check out the full line-up below.

Amnesia Rockfest will take place during the weekend of June 18-21.
