Pharrell Added to ‘The Voice’ for Seventh Season

pharrell

Ever since Cee Lo Green announced that he would not be returning to NBC’s hit singing reality show, the question had become who wold fill his big red chair. Today, the answer was given and fans can expect to go from one form of over-the-top costume to another.

Pharrell Williams has been chosen to take over the turning chair alongside Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for season seven of the television series.

“Okay, we can OFFICIALLY say it! WE ARE SO  to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS =  for SEASON 7,” The Voice’s official Twitter posted earlier in the day.

After the news had broken, the super-producer took to his Twitter account to confirm that he would be joining with, “This is going to be so fun.”

Fellow judge Adam Levine also tweeted about the new casting with a simple, “Welcome to the circus dude!”

“It’s been a huge year for Pharrell, with recognition for his contribution in the world of music — the Despicable Me franchise soundtracks, his Oscar-nominated song ‘Happy’ and his Grammy-winning collaboration with Daft Punk on the breakout dance hit ‘Get Lucky.’ His dominance in record sales in 2014, coupled with his incomparable accomplishments in the world of fashion and design, make him an irresistible addition to The Voice family,” NBC boss Paul Telegdy said in a statement.

“He has already made a considerable impact as a mentor, drawing on an impressive track record as both a producer and performer. It is a perfect fit for The Voice as we evolve and reach for new heights with this franchise. It feels like we are welcoming an existing family member home.”

The Voice’s executive producer Mark Burnett added, “I am thrilled to have Pharrell come back to The Voice family, and this time…as a coach. Continuing in The Voice tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly.”

Let all the “Happy” jokes begin. What do you think about the addition of Pharrell (and probably his Smokey the Bear hat) to the show?

Watch ‘The Voice’ Judges Perform Each Other’s Songs

thevoice

It’s Tuesday and that means that the season premiere of The Voice flooded onto people’s televisions last night. The reality television show was back in full force with Shakira and Usher back in their big, red spinning chairs taking the place of Christina Aguilera and the now-officially-gone Cee Lo Green.

Like every season, the judges took to the stage to perform and this time, they showed that they could cover each other’s hit songs. Blake Shelton took on Shakira’s hit song, “Whenever, Wherever” while the Colombian singer took on the country boy’s song, “Boys Round Here.” Usher took on Maroon 5’s radio hit “Love Somebody” while the frontman took on the Atlanta singer’s “Without You.”

2013acm_lukeblake-400x304

For fans of country music, tonight will be another night full of rocking country songs and awards for the best of the best in that genre of music.

The Voice judge (and sometimes country singer, I kid) Blake Shelton and first time co-host, Luke Bryan will be taking the reigns as hosts of the evening. Performers will include, Hunter Hayes with Stevie Wonder, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift with Keith Urban, George Strait, Garth Brooks and even a collaboration between John Mayer and Brad Paisley.

While the laundry list of performers is enough for a country fan to tune in, the list of presenters aren’t that far off either. Presenters include, Gary Allan, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Trisha Yearwood, Chris Young, Eli Young Band and many more.

For the full list of performers and presenters, tune in tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS for the live airing of the show on the east coast and a tape delay for those on the west coast.

And for those that can’t see it at all, click here at 8 for the live stream of the show.

Jimmy Fallon Covers The Lumineers

cluck

The Lumineers have officially made it.

As if getting playfully hit in the face by Sir Elton John (it happened to drummer, Jeremiah Fraites at the Grammys) didn’t secure the Colorado-based indie band a place in pop culture then Jimmy Fallon, Blake Shelton and Parks & Recreation star, Nick Offerman covering their hit song, “Ho Hey” may have done it.

Just in time for Easter, the late night host and his group of clucking friends formed The Chickeneers and covered the top 100 hit song on Fallon’s show.

Check out the video right here and have a little bit of a clucking laugh yourselves.

‘The Voice’ Judges Perform Beatles’ Song

Last night on NBC’s hit music competition show, The Voice, the judges did in deed ‘come together’ to perform The Beatles’ super hit by the same name.

Watch the full video of Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and new comers Usher and Shakira perform the song here.
