Toby Keith’s Bassist Killed in Oklahoma

Chuck Goff

Sad news of the day for country music lovers out there. It was reported this morning that Toby Keith’s long time bassist, Carl “Chuck” Goff Jr, was killed in a two car crash in Cleveland County which is about 35 miles south of Oklahoma City.

In a statement released by the country singer, he said:

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of our band member, Chuck Goff. He was a close friend for over 25 years, the band leader and bass player. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.”

Goff also had some writing credits within Keith’s 1994 album, Boomtown, including the songs “Upstairs Downtown” that landed at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and top 10 hit, “You Ain’t Much Fun.”

While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities are saying that the driver from the other vehicle was not injured.
