Taking Back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria announce joint summer tour

Just when you thought the list of summertime tours couldn’t get any longer, Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria have decided to change that. On Tuesday (Feb. 20), the bands announced plans to hit the touring circuit during the months of July and August for a co-headlining excursion. The summer tour, which does not have an official name, will kick off on July 6 at Bayfront Park in Miami and wrap up a little over a month later on Aug. 12 at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix.

Hitting the road alongside Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria for the full tour will be California five-piece The Story So Far.

“It’s funny, we’ve been friends all of this time but we’ve never done a full tour together,” said Taking Back Sunday drummer Mark O’Connell about hitting the road with Coheed and Cambria. “We ran into each other at some festivals last year and got to talking about it, and here we are.”

While all three bands took to social media to confirm the upcoming tour, Coheed and Cambria all but confirmed plans to make their show unforgettable since most will take place at outdoor venues. “The shows will mostly be outdoors and we’ll make them special,” read the band’s Twitter post.

Pre-sales will begin this Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. local time using the password TIDALWAVE. General ticket sales will begin on Friday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. local time.

While there has been no talk about new music from any of the bands on the roster, Taking Back Sunday did release their most recent album, Tidal Wave, back in 2016 while Coheed and Cambria’s last studio album, The Color Before the Sun, was released in 2015. Unlike Taking Back Sunday and Coheed, The Story So Far reportedly entered the studio last year to begin recording their fourth studio album.
