Now that there is less than 12 hours left until the release of Simple Plan’s much-anticipated fifth studio album, the band has released one final song from it. On Thursday (Feb. 18), the five-piece released the mellow, guitar-centric song, “Perfectly Perfect.” Unlike “PS I Hate You,” which was scathing and mean, “Perfectly Perfect” celebrates all the things someone likes about you even though you can’t appreciate those things yourself.
“I think most people have a distorted view of themselves,”said Simple Plan frontman Pierre Bouvier about the new song. “We all obsess about little things that bother us about ourselves, when most people wouldn’t even notice or might actually find them charming.” The three-minute song was also co-written with Plain White T’s frontman Tom Higgenson. Listen to “Perfectly Perfect” below.
“Perfectly Perfect” will join the lengthy list of previously released tracks including “Opinion Overload,” “BOOM!,” “Farewell,” “I Don’t Wanna Go to Bed,” “I Don’t Wanna Be Sad,” “Nostalgic,” and “PS I Hate You” on the new album. Taking One for the Team is set to be released tomorrow, Feb. 19, through Atlantic Records.
