After a week of posting cryptic messages on social media, the All-American Rejects have finally unveiled what all the teasing was for. On Monday (May 8), the Oklahoma-founded band announced plans to hit the road during the summertime. Heading out with the four-piece during the months of July and August will be Dashboard Confessional. Similar to the All-American Rejects photographic teases, the Chris Carrabba-led group posted an image with Carrabba and ARR frontman Tyson Ritter. Accompanying the photo was the caption “I think we’re on to something…tune in tomorrow” as well as AAR’s Twitter handle.
The joint summer excursion will kick off on July 13 at the Pacific Amphiheatre in Costa Mesa, California and conclude a month later on Aug. 15 at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois. The Social Animals will open for the two groups from July 14 to July 23 while the Maine will take over from July 25 to Aug. 13.
Pre-sales for both general admission tickets and VIP tickets will begin on Wednesday, May 10, at 10 a.m. local time. Once pre-sales end, public tickets sales will begin on Friday, May 12, also at 10 a.m. local time. Dashboard Confessional is currently offering two different VIP packages named after two of their biggest hits. The first is called the “Hands Down” the Ultimate Dashboard Confessional Experience and the other is named the “Don’t Wait” Backstage Meet & Greet Experience. For more information about the packages, head on over the Dashboard’s website here.
The tour announcement comes a year after Carrabba premiered a brand new song titled “May”; this first new tune in seven years. Around the time the song was unveiled, the singer had also alluded that he was working on new music, but had no release date in mind. “I don’t have any idea of a release date or a worry about one for that matter,” Carrabba told Entertainment Weekly in 2016.
As for the All-American Rejects, last summer they hit the road alongside Blink-182 for their California summer tour (read out review here). During the tour, they performed a new song titled “DGAF” and have been teasing that there will be new music soon. When that new music will make an appearance, only the band knows.
For now, the complete list of upcoming tour dates can be seen below while tickets will be available here.
