The Defenders is one of Netflix’s most anticipated shows of 2017 and for good reason since the show will follow the team-up of New York’s four neighborhood superheros. On Wednesday (May 3), the official first trailer for the upcoming eight episode miniseries was released on to the internet. During the almost two-and-a-half minute clip, the viewer gets to see the upcoming group made up of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, and Finn Jones’s Danny Rand/ Iron Fist meet for the first time and what transpires after they become a team. Side note: Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have previously met when he appeared for a couple of episodes on the snarky detective’s own series.

The trailer also features a glimpse of Élodie Yung’s Elektra Natchios in the ground, the same place viewers last saw her at the end of season two of Daredevil. In addition to some familiar face, viewers get to see their first of glimpse of Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra. Though it is teased that she will be the “big bad” of the season, there was no other mention of the character’s role in The Defenders.

In a past interview, Weaver described the character as “really smart” and “very in charge,” while Marco Ramirez described her as “a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.” Watch the official first trail for the show above.
