Like it was predicted last week, this has so far been Britney Spears’ week even though it looked like it might have been doomed when some leakers got their hands on a low quality version of her new single, “Work Bitch.” But a little leakage didn’t kill anyone, if anything it made her loyal fans even more excited for the new track that was officially released through iHeartRadio’s many stations Sunday afternoon.
This morning during a broadcast of Good Morning America, the 31-year-old pop star announced another round of big news for her fans; the residency that had been speculated for months, had been confirmed.
This morning, Spears arrived in the Mojave Desert, joined by hundreds of school girls via a helicopter to announce her new career move. The “Stronger” star announced that she will be heading to Las Vegas for a two-year residency at the Planet Hollywood with an expected 50 shows each year. In the end, she is estimated to make about $15 million per year for the shows.
“I’m going to definitely do the greatest hits but I’m going to have to put some of my new material in it to just keep it fresh,” Spears said while being interviewed on Good Morning America.
The new show will be called, “Piece of Me” which for those of you not familiar with the pop star’s catalog is actually the name of one of her songs from 2007’s Blackout. Tickets for Britney: Piece of Me go on sale September 20 and prices range from $59 to $179.
But wait, there a little bit of other information; her eight studio album which still does not have an official title (at least to the public) is set to be released on December 3.
How about that?
Britney Spears sadly joined a long list of pop stars who have had their anticipated new song leaked online before the scheduled premiere date. First, it was Lady Gaga followed by Katy Perry and now Spears’ new song, “Work Bitch” had been leaked early this morning in a low quality format.
Spears took to Twitter to announce that due to the badly leaked version (and one bad apple), the new song would premiere a full 24 hours before its originally scheduled time, which would have been tomorrow, Monday, September 16 at 3 PM EST.
Instead of taking the “threatening legal action” for the leaked song, the poo star’s camp decided to just let the fans have the song ahead of time. For weeks, Spears had been hyping the new song with tweets from set of the new music video and the cover art for the single, but now the full song can be heard here, in its clear and normal quality.
What do you guys think of the new track?
“Work Bitch” is the first single off of her new album which rumor has it should be making its debut sometime in the upcoming months. The album will be her eight album, following 2011’s Femme Fatale and revealed a “recipe” for the upcoming album which apparently includes some of the best parts of her previous released projects.
Previously, it was revealed that Spears would be lending her vocals to a song titled, “SMS (Bangerz)” which will be featured on Miley Cyrus’ upcoming album, Bangerz. The last new song that she released was “Ooh La La” which was featured in this summer’s film, The Smurfs 2 soundtrack.
Looks like fans of Britney Spears won’t have to wait any longer for new music from the pop star. Her new single which will be titled, “Work Bitch” is set to be released next week. Spears took to Twitter to reveal the news that the song will be making its debut on September 16th at 6 p.m. EST through iHeartRadio and local radio stations. The song will then go on to be released at 12:01 a.m. EST on September 17th through iTunes.
While the song will be released to the world on Monday evening, Spears had already gotten a head start on making the video for the song which was filmed in a desert. The video will be directed by the mastermind behind Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” video, Ben Mor. This won’t even be the first collaboration that the video director and the singer had worked on; Mor also worked on the music video for her song featuring will.i.am, “Scream and Shout.”
Spears, being pretty good at keeping secrets at the time, revealed a cryptic countdown on her website last week which was counting down until September 17th. At the time, the speculation was that it would be the day that she would release a new song which ended up being accurate. Earlier this year, will.i.am did reveal that he would be producing the new album. The last original song that had been released from the star was this Summer’s “Ooh La La” which was featured on The Smurfs 2 soundtrack.
