5 Seconds of Summer and the Chainsmokers share their new live video for ‘Who Do You Love’ (Watch)

While we’re still not sure who the antagonist in “Who Do You Love” truly loves and why she left cigarettes in her Fendi coat, we do know that 5 Seconds of Summer and the Chainsmokers really do love giving fans different versions of their current radio staple. On Tuesday (April 2), the Australian band and the New York-founded duo unleashed another performance-based video for their collaboration.

Unlike the studio version of the track which is more electronic than rock, the latest live video finds the acts letting the rock sound take precedence while the electronics take a backseat.

The over-four-minute clip also finds the groups toning down the dramatic in a big way as the performance takes place in a somewhat tight warehouse with lots of flashing lights.  This is a departure from their over-the-top, “Scott Pilgrim v.s. the World“-inspired music video.

The best part of the video comes towards the end when all of the guys involved in the song come together for one major instrumental breakdown.

We’re taking bets this will be the version 5 Seconds of Summer and the Chainsmokers decide to perform on their upcoming World War Joy tour.

Speaking of the World War Joy tour, the previously announced tour will find both acts performing at venues across the continent throughout September, October, November, and December.

The 41-stop jaunt begins on Sept. 25 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati and concludes two and a half months later on Dec. 6 at Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The full list of tour dates can be found here.

5 Seconds of Summer and the Chainsmokers battle it out in ‘Who Do You Love’ video (Watch)

They’ve been “pushing and pushing and pulling away,” but now 5 Seconds of Summer and the Chainsmokers have finally caved and given fans what they’ve been patiently waiting for. On Monday (March 25), the Australian band and the New York-founded act unleashed the music video for their hit collaboration, “Who Do You Love.”

The almost-four-minute clip begins with both acts showing up to what looks like an abandoned warehouse. At first, we’re not sure what’s about to happen, but considering the deathglares, the groups are giving each other, it’s safe to say that something big is about to go down.

We watch as the bands take their spots behind their proper instruments, and before long, we are submerged in an epic battle of the bands. As the video progresses, we watch how the Chainsmokers are lit up by electric blue and neon pink lights while 5 Seconds of Summer are surrounded by smoke and fire; a cool nod to their proper music genres.

Of course, when the guys from 5 Seconds of Summer promised fans on social media “visual effects, stuntmen, and flames” and posted an image of frontman Luke Hemmings with his stunet double, we knew things were not going to be normal. This became clear the moment all their instruments burst into flames.

Let’s just say the music video was definitely inspired by 2010’s “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.” Watch the full music video for “Who Do You Love” above.

“Who Do You Love” seems to be both groups’ standalone single. 5 Seconds of Summer’s last studio album was 2018’s Youngblood while the Chainsmokers’ last album was 2018’s Sick Boy.

In support of the joint song —and what looks to be some kind of partnership— the two acts previously announced plans to embark on a massive tour this fall. Dubbed the World War Joy tour, the trek will find both bands performing at venues across the continent throughout September, October, November, and December.
