What happens when you have an awesome fan who happens to be the executive producer on one of the biggest television shows of our times?
Apparently, you get invited to play a set of characters who get murdered and come back from the dead in a span of ten minutes and that’s exactly what the guys from Mastodon got to do.
If you’re a fan of the Georgia band and happened to be watching last night’s episode of Game of Thrones, you might have briefly noticed that three of the Wildlings that met their demise during the show looked familiar. That’s because Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Brent Hinds were given the chance to appear on last night’s (May 31) episode, “Hardhorne” all thanks to executive producer Dan Weiss.
“It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favorite show Game Of Thrones and to be wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing,” shares drummer, Dailor.
“I watched my best friends Brent and Bill, murdered right in front of me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn’t mind at all. It made me love being in Mastodon even more. We are more than privileged and honored to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film, and the catering wasn’t bad either.”
In a fitting turn of events, the band had contributed a track titled “White Walkers” back in March which appears on the latest Game of Thrones mixtape, Game of Thrones: Catch the Throne Vol. 2 currently available on SoundCloud.
