Sum 41 brings the party to the skate park in new video

It’s been over seven months since Sum 41 released any new music videos for their brand new tunes. On Wednesday (May 3), things changed when the Canadian band unleashed their fan-centric music video for “Goddamn I’m Dead Again.” The music video kicks off with the band, more specifically frontman Deryck Whibley, sending out a mass message to fans on Facebook asking them to show up and be part of their brand new music video. “Bail on your Sunday plans and come spend the day with us,” reads the post.

Once the message disappears from the screen, we see the band arrive at what looks to be a depleted skate park with skate ramps full of graffiti and dead plants; the perfect place for a party. In between shots of the band getting ready, we see the Skumfuks (Sum 41 fans) arrive, ready for a good time. Headbanging, moshing, crowdsurfing, and the band performing make up the almost four-minute video. If the clip looks familiar, it’s because according to the band the new video is supposed to be reminiscent of their music videos for “In Too Deep” and “Fat Lip.”

“We’re very excited to release this new video for ‘Goddamn I’m Dead Again.’  This one is for the fans and by the fans,” said Whibley in a statement that accompanied the new clip. “What you are seeing are dedicated Sum 41 super fans, not one extra and I love that. Thank you all for being a part of it and spending that Sunday afternoon with us!”

“Goddamn I’m Dead Again” is featured on Sum 41’s recently released album, 13 Voices. The record was released back in the fall of 2016 through Hopeless Records. Following its release, the band headed out on their massive ‘Don’t Call It a Sum-Back’ tour which yield several sold out shows.

Currently, Sum 41 is in the middle of their co-headlining “We Will Detonate!” tour with Pierce the Veil. In addition to the tour stops with Pierce the Veil, Sum 41 will also appear at a handful of music festivals including Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, and Rocklahoma where their spring tour will officially wrap up on May 26. The complete list of Sum 41 tour dates can be found here.

The joint excursion, which is sponsored by Loudwire, will be called the “Loudwire Lives Presents We Will Detonate!” tour. The month-and-a-half long tour will kick off on April 21 with back-to-back nights at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, Colo. The tour will officially wrap up on May 25 at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, Texas.

Hitting the road alongside Pierce the Veil and Sum 41 will be Emarosa and Chapel.

“The fuse is burning and we’re counting down the days till the ‘We Will Detonate!’ tour this spring,” Pierce the Veil frontman Vic Fuentes said in a statement. “We are honored to be hitting the stage every night with legends Sum 41, old friends Emarosa, and new friends Chapel. This will be a show unlike any we’ve ever attempted to dream up for our fans. Clock is ticking, we’ll see you all soon!”
