Mixtapes Frontman to Sit Out Warped Tour Stops

If anyone was hoping on seeing the full line up of Mixtapes during the next few days on the Vans Warped Tour, the band have revealed that one very important member will be missing some dates.

Frontman Ryan Rockwell revealed earlier today that he would be sitting out a few Warped Tour dates due to being involved in not one, but two serious car accidents in the last few days.

In his statement, Rockwell revealed that the first accident happened when the car he was in was cut off which resulted in a “serious wreck.” The second car accident he was involved in was a solo accident which was a result from a concussion that he did not take serious from the day before.
The band have confirmed they will continue to play their Warped Tour sets with the help of some of their friend taking Rockwell’s spot.

Read his statement below.

Hey everyone ryan here. Two days ago at a warped tour stop I was in a car and got cut off and got into a pretty serious car wreck. Aside from some bad injuries I also got a concussion which I didn’t know yet.

Fast forward to a day later and I was driving and didn’t realize the concussion and basically blacked out and hit a curb/tree so basically I’m an idiot. My doctor and many people at warped tour said not to play because I’m in pretty bad shape right now so as of now maura, Paul and Boone are playing without me and getting some friends to fill in, I hope to rest for a few days and come

Back and finish. I go to my doctor tomorrow at home and will let everyone know, everyone please come to warped, sing along, and thanks for all the awesome support, I will see you soon

Mixtapes revealed two weeks ago that they will be going on hiatus this November after Fest.

Shirts for a Cure Fall Victim to Theft

Theft has become one of the biggest issues in the music world whether it be merchandise from the back of someone’s van or the theft of instruments from right under a musician’s nose, it’s an epidemic that’s getting worse each day.

One thing we never hoped to report, is someone stealing from a foundation whose main goal is to help cancer patients. And worse is the fact that it happened on the Vans Warped Tour.

During yesterday’s stop in Virginia Beach, Shirts for a Cure was robbed of their profits.

For those not familiar, Shirts for a Cure  and The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (SSE) were founded back in 2002 by Mark Beemer. Since we can remember, Shirts for a Cure have gotten support from many bands and artists (Rise Against, My Chemical Romance, Circa Survive, Midtown to name a few) in creating one-of-a-kind shirts that are sold on the foundation’s website.

We remember having huge lists of all the shirts we wanted from the site even though we were flat broke teenagers.

The foundation took to Facebook yesterday to reveal the horrible news and ask for help, in any way.

This is not a post we ever thought we would ever have to make, but unfortunately we were robbed yesterday at the Vans Warped Tour in Virginia Beach– anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities.

For those who don’t know, our profits go directly to cancer patients in need and so having our money stolen is a huge loss for our cause.

We really need your help in replacing the funds that were tragically stolen.

Direct donations can be made atwww.syrentha.org/donate.

Thank you for your continued support.

So if you can, help them out. Buy a shirt on their site or if Warped Tour hasn’t hit your town yet, give them a visit when it does. We’ll be there this upcoming Saturday.

The Story So Far Members Confront Security Guard About Crowdsurfer

We all know that things can get crazy at concert, especially at festivals like Warped Tour, but what happens when the people that are there to help protect you are the ones causing the harm? That’s exactly what happened at yesterday’s tour stop in Montreal, Canada.

During The Story So Far’s set an audience member decided that it would be wise to crowd surf even though the Warped sign telling audience members to refrain was placed on the stage for all to read. Sadly, one of the security guards decided that it was wise of them to take the punishment further than they should have. In an acquired video, straight from someone in the audience, you can see around the 0:35 mark, a security grab the crowdsurfer and threw them on the ground.

The Story So Far members quickly jumped off the stage right in the middle of the song to fend off the security guard that had roughly manhandled the crowdsurfer. Things, of course, got crazy as the video shows a fight breaking out instantly after the band members jumped off the stage. Words were exchanged and it looks like those words were not “would you like a tea party” because a melee soon began. After the craziness died down, the kid was check out and asked if he was OK, before the band returned to their previously scheduled set.

The two video from the confrontation can be seen below.

Warped founder, Kevin Lyman took to Twitter this morning to confirm what had happened and that the security company that the guard worked for haf been contacted about what took place with video proof of what occurred.

Watch Linkin Park Perform at Ventura’s Warped Tour Stop

Over the weekend, rumors had grown that the Ventura, CA stop of the Vans Warped Tour would have a special guest in the form of Linkin Park.

Warped Tour’s official Twitter was hinting at special guests for the day in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the traveling rock show, while Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has tweeted a simple message reading “Ventura, CA.”
Being better than detectives when need be, some made the instant connection, but it would take until the day of the show for Warped organizers to confirm that the band would be performing on the main stage.

During the set, which stuck to its normal half-an-hour time, the band performed some of their hits and had some members from Yellowcard, Issues, MGK, the Devil Wears Prada, Finch, Breathe Carolina, and A Day to Remember. In case you didn’t know, A Dat to Remember aren’t even on Warped Tour so that mean that this “secret” performance was big.

“What I’ve Done” feat. Ryan Key of Yellowcard:

“A Place for My Head” feat. Jeremy McKinnon of A Day to Remember:

“Bleed it Out” feat. MGK:

“Faint” feat. Tyler Carter and Michael Bohn of Issues:

“Guilty All the Same” feat. Mike Hrancia and Jeremy DePoyster from The Devil Wears Prada:

“One Step Closer” feat. Nate Barcalow from Finch:

“New Divide” feat. David Schmitt from Breathe Carolina:

Vans Warped Tour to Implement “No Moshing, No Crowdsurfing” Policy

Summer is right around the corner and you can easily tell because the Vans Warped Tour has just kicked off their annual trek around the country. Sadly, like last year, festival organizers have revealed that moshing and crowdsurfing are no longer allowed at any of their stops.

If this decree sounds oddly familiar, it is because last year the traveling rock show tried to implement the same kind of policy during their 2013 journey. At Friday’s launch show, a picture was taken of a sign hanging from one of the many stages which reads, “No Moshing/Crowdsurfing. You Mosh, You Crowdsurf—You Get Hurt—We Get Sued—No More Warped Tour.”

For many new comers to the festival and those who appreciate doing the newly outlawed things at a show, they have begun crying foul play. For veterans, it looks like the consensus was unanimous; they would be OK with moshing and crowdsurfing being outlawed in an effort to reduce the stupidity that gets encountered when all you want to do is see a band.

Last year, the news broke about the similar policy when Bring Me the Horizon’s Oli Sykes revealed that he had been told that he was not allowed to mention the terms “mosh pit” or “wall of death” during his performances. The rule that Sykes had made reference to is part of the insurance policy that the festival has depending on each individual festival stop and its venue. In it, the [2013] policy stated that bands must refrain from using any of those terms that way it made it easier for the insurance companies to cover those who were injured during the show.

Check out the picture of the sign and let us know how you feel about the new implementation. Good, bad, or indifferent?

Acoustic Basement Head Shocked at Warped Tour

It’s been known to rain and pour during Warped Tour in selected cities, but yesterday afternoon, the long running music festival met unexpected weather conditions when they arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida which resulted in not only a temporary cancellation for several hours, but also the venue lost electricity.

The worst part of the day was that the man behind the recently popular Acoustic Basement as well as Therefore I Am, Brian Marquis, was injured during the torrential storm that struck the festival. It was unclear whether he had been electrocuted or if he was struck by lightning at that time.

Earlier today, Marquis released a short message where he reveals that he is fine after what occurred at yesterday’s Warped Tour stop as well as picture of him in what looks to be a hospital.

“I am alive and relatively okay. I fought a little lightning and won. Thank you for all the love and concern. I am so grateful for you all.”

After the catastrophe had happened, former The Voice contestant and current Warped Tour performer, Juliet Simms, released a tweet that started everyone’s concern about what had transpired at that moment.

Edit: We were at yesterday’s Warped Tour and had to endure almost two hours (three if you include the drive to West Palm) in the car while the storm passed. The venue was flood to the point that some audience members said that they went swimming int he water.

Warped Tour officials let fans know that if they chose to leave the show early, their tickets would be honored at today’s show in Orlando as well as signing tickets as well.
