Bayside release music video for ‘Pretty Vacant’

With a couple of months left until the release of their seventh studio album, Bayside has returned with the official music video for their latest track, “Pretty Vacant.” On Thursday (June 9), the New York-founded band released the clip for the second song off of Vacancy. “The song ‘Pretty Vacant’ perfectly sums up the lyrical theme of the record and we really wanted the video to do the same,” explains frontman Anthony Raneri.

“We wanted the video to tell the story of someone having the life that they thought they knew disappear. She struggles to gain control of [it] or at least slow down the process of losing her identity, but fate is literally dragging her pasts out the door and making it disappear into thin air and there is nothing that she can do about it.” Watch the music video for “Pretty Vacant” below.

Back in May, the group announced that Vacancy would see a release date of Aug. 16 through Hopeless Records. During an interview on Silverstein frontman Shane Told’s podcast, Lead Singer Syndrome, Raneri explained how his failed relationship greatly influenced the upcoming release. “I moved to Nashville two-and-a-half years ago with my wife and baby. The plan was to go down for a couple of years, plant seeds and move back to New York. We came down and after a year of being here we split up.”

“I was like, ‘do I live in Tennessee now? Alone?’ It was a crazy, super isolated time where I didn’t know what was going to come next and moved into an apartment to try and sort things out. That’s where I wrote the record, I wrote Vacancy in that apartment.” While the subject matter is one not to be taken lightly, at least fans of the band will get a new record out of it.

In support of Vacancy, Bayside announced plans to hit the road during the end of the summer/beginning of fall. The Menzingers and Sorority Noise will join Bayside on their upcoming trek which will kick off on Aug. 11 at Revolution Live in our hometown of Ft. Lauderdale. Bayside release new single, ‘Enemy Lines’

Last month, Bayside finally confirmed that they would be releasing a brand new album this summer after teasing fans for a while. On Friday (May 13), the New York-founded group premiered the first single off of the new record, “Enemy Lines.” The song will be featured on the band’s seventh studio album, Vacancy which is due out in August.” Listen to “Enemy Lines” below.

Recently, Bayside frontman, Anthony Raneri, sat down with Silverstein frontman, Shane Told, for the latter’s podcast, Lead Singer Syndrome. During the sit down, Raneri revealed the complication behind making the new album and why it was the toughest record the four-piece have made.

“I moved to Nashville two-and-a-half years ago with my wife and baby. The plan was to go down for a couple of years, plant seeds and move back to New York. We came down and after a year of being here we split up,” Raneri explained to Told.

“I was like, ‘do I live in Tennessee now? Alone?’ It was a crazy, super isolated time where I didn’t know what was going to come next and moved into an apartment to try and sort things out. That’s where I wrote the record, I wrote Vacancy in that apartment. I had a couch, a TV, my bed, a desk, a computer and my guitar—everything else was in boxes, waiting for me to figure out where they were going to go. We were calling it the hotel, which is where the hotel on the cover came from; Vacancy had a double meaning, the physical and emotional experience. This is the first record I’ve written that’s had a theme to it, I didn’t want to write a typical break-up record, it’s not about what happened, it’s about the aftermath.”

Vacancy is set to be released in Aug. 19 through Hopeless Records. Pre-orders for the album are currently available on the band’s website. In support of the new record, Bayside will hit the road this summer alongside The Menzingers and Sorority Noise. The complete itinerary for that summer excursion can be seen here.
