Watch SOFI TUKKER hit the desert for ‘Batshit’

With their debut album officially out for the world to hear, SOFI TUKKER have returned with the music video for another new jam from the record. On Wednesday (April 11), the New York-based act unleashed their insane music video for “Batshit.” The three-and-a-half-minute clip finds the duo hanging out and rocking out in the middle of the desert.

The video begins with Tucker Halpern, armed with fluorescent-green hair and an 80s-worthy wardrobe, walking on a sandy road with a briefcase in hand. As he saunters down the road singing the tune, the camera pans to Sophie Hawley-Weld, who is decked out in an equally 80s-tastic wardrobe, lounging on a beach chair.

As if distributing her quiet relaxation, she takes off after him, armed with a prehistoric-looking hammer. Like the lyrics for the song say, this video is “batshit crazy.” Watch the complete video for “Batshit” above.

“Batshit” is featured on the group’s debut record Treehouse. The ten-track album features previously released singles “Energia,” “F**k They,” “Baby I’m a Queen,” and their breakout hit “Best Friend.”

“Best Friend” has made quite the mark on the music charts since its debut. It landed at the number one spot on Dance radio, the number 16 spot on the Alternative charts, the number 18 spot on the pop charts, and the number 29 spot on the Hot AC.

In support of the record’s release, the duo previously announced plans to hit the road during the spring, well into the summer, and wrapping up in the fall. The Treehouse world tour will kick off next Thursday, April 18, at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. and conclude during the weekend of Sept. 21-22 with an appearance at the Cayuga Sound Festival in Ithaca, New York.

Tickets for all the upcoming tour dates can be found on the band’s website here.

Watch: SOFI TUKKER share music video for ‘Baby I’m a Queen’

SOFI TUKKER’s infectious single “Best Friend” has found its place on several music charts since its debut and it looks like the duo have no plans of stopping any time soon. On Monday (March 19), the New York-based act released the music video for their latest single, “Baby I’m a Queen.” The over-three-and-a-half-minute clip begins with the duo – Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern – sitting on the judges’ panel of a beauty pageant.

The viewer watches as little girls prance across the stage, dance, and even shoot arrows in an attempt to win the top prize. At one point, the viewer watches as one of the girls messes up and her stage mom can be seen yelling at her from the crowd. In a moment of clarity, which the viewer can see etched on Hawley-Weld’s face, the little girl goes running to the back. While she sits there, defeated, a little boy appears to give her a bouquet of flowers. Like Hawley-Weld, she has a moment of clarity and begins to take off all the makeup and fake eyelashes. She is soon joined by the other contestants who can be seen saying goodbye to being made up to look like dolls and hello to being normal kids.

“Just because you are vulnerable, doesn’t mean you have to let yourself be belittled or infantilized (why is “baby” the default nickname?),” the group writes in a press release about the song.

“We are strong and empowered because we cry, because we desire, and because of what is chaotic about us. This song is about standing up as strong and powerful, because of that courage to share ourselves. It’s about being both a baby and a queen at the same time.”

The music video was filmed in Miami and directed by Phillip Lopez whose resume includes videos for Selena Gomez, Pussy Riot, Cold War Kids, Avicii, and Rita Ora. Watch the new music video above.

“Baby I’m a Queen” will join the act’s breakout single, “Best Friend,” on their debut album Treehouse. Treehouse is set to be released on April 13. Pre-orders for the album can be found here.

In support of Treehouse, the duo will hit the road for their Treehouse world tour which will kick off on April 18 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. The complete list of tour dates can be found here.

I See Stars to release ‘Treehouse’ this summer

I See Stars has announced that they will be releasing a new album this upcoming summer. On Wednesday (May 4), the Michigan-based band revealed that their brand new record will be titled Treehouse and is set to be released on June 17 via Sumerian Records. In addition to the new record announcement, the band also released a clip which may or may not be one of the new tracks. The minute and 15 second clips features a white 3D background and black 3D trees while instrumentals play in the background. The short video can be seen below.

Treehouse marks the band’s first record since 2013’s New Demons. In addition to being the band’s first new album in three years, it also marks the band’s first album without screamer/keyboardist Zach Johnson and guitarist Jimmy Gregerson who were asked to leave the group last year. While everyone was hearing about the departure in December of 2015, Gregerson had clarified by telling the band’s fans that he had left months prior. “I am no longer in I See Stars,” he posted. “I did not choose to leave, I was asked to leave. Why? I’m not really sure. I guess the rest of the guys felt they needed a change.”

Johnson also mirrored Gregerson’s clarification by revealing that he was also let go months prior as well. “I was let go months ago. I don’t know why.”

Earlier this year, I See Stars hit the road alongside Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! for a spring tour. This summer, the band will once again hit the road, this time on the Vans Warped Tour where they will play on the Poseidon stage throughout the complete tour.
