Listen to Sunny Day Real Estate’s “Lipton Witch”

Sunny Day Real Estate haven’t released any new music in 14 years, but that changed this past Saturday with the release of their split EP with Circa Survive.

The split featured Sunny Day’s new track, “Lipton Witch” the first new song since 2000’s The Rising Tide. Though they had announced plans to release new material in 2011 with the band’s original line-up, the first time since 1995’s LP2 recording, it ended up getting shelved.

At the beginning of March, both Circa Survive and Sunny Day had announced their plan for the Record Store Day release as well as the track list and the album art which can be seen as the background in the video below.

Maybe the fact that the Record Store Day EP will help Sunny Day finally release that shelved album; it’s never too late for them to come back.

Linkin Park Debut “Guilty All the Same”

During the press conference announcing that Linkin Park will be heading out on “The Carnivores Tour” with 30 Seconds to Mars and AFI, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda revealed that there would be something coming to fans this Thursday. The duo admitted that fans could already guess what it was when the official trailer for the tour revealed new music from the band.

Just like they had said, the band dropped a new track today titled, “Guilty All the Same” which features New York rapper Rakim. The audio, which can be heard below, takes things back to the days when the rock-rap group used to be more aggressive with their sound which should please longtime fans that felt robbed with their newer sound.

The song is currently being streamed over at Shazam. All you have to do is tag a song, any song, and you can unlock the new track.

“Guilty All the Same” is the band’s lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album which is set to be released this Summer. The album is still untitled, but Shinoda playing around on Twitter said that it might be titled The Hunting Party.

Very fitting when you consider the name of the upcoming tour.

Coldplay to Release Sixth Studio Album

Coldplay have revealed two good pieces of news to get their fans through their nasty Monday morning blues.

First, the band revealed a brand new single titled, “Magic.” Then they followed up the new single, by announcing that “Magic” will in fact be featured on their upcoming, sixth album, Ghost Stories.

Last week when they released “Midnight,” some people thought it was just another random new track that the band was dropping. Fans of the band, on the other hand, were hoping that it was just a sign that a new album was on its way. Those wishing for a new record, got what they wanted because Ghost Stories will be released on May 19 through the band’s longtime record label, Parlophone/Atlantic Records.

For those wanting to pre-order the album, they could do so now and get an instant download of the new single while a deluxe version of the album will be sold through Target which will feature three bonus tracks. The audio video for “Magic” can be heard below as well as the full track list for the upcoming record.

Ghost Stories will be the band’s first new album since 2011’s hit, Mylo Xyloto. Last year, the band released a single song, “Atlas” which was featured on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Soundtrack, earning them a few nominations for the track.

As for the band, Coldplay are set to headline the inaugural U.S. iTunes Festival on March 11 during South By Southwest in Austin. For those not able to make it to Austin, the show will be streamed live through the iTunes Store.

Listen to My Chemical Romance’s Swan Song

My Chemical Romance really know how to keep their memories alive after announcing their demise last March. While the word of mouth has been mostly around their last official music endeavors together in the form of a greatest hits album, it still tugs at fans’ heartstrings to know that this is in fact, the end.

Last week, someone at the band’s record label, Warner Brothers, took their social media accounts into their own hands and revealed that they would be releasing the band’s last new song, “Fake Your Death,” this week. At first, and probably until this afternoon, some thought that it was a mean joke like when a hacker got into their Twitter account last year.

The tweet and Facebook post are not fake and today we got their last song for, we’re hoping, now.

My Chemical Romance’s greatest hits, May Death Never Stop You is set to be released on March 24; a year or so after calling it quits.

But keep in mind kids, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge turns ten in June; there’s still hope.

Young the Giant Release New Lyric Video

Young the Giant revealed that they had joined the Fueled by Ramen family and that a new album would soon be on the way for fans of the band. Yesterday, the band released the lyric video for their lead single, “Mind Over Matter.” Coincidentally enough, the lead single also happens to be the name of their upcoming album.

Good news is that the record will be released on January 21 with pre-orders currently available on the band’s website.  But that’s not where the good news end; the band will be heading out on a North American tour starting at the beginning of February.

Both tour dates the lyric video can be seen here:

Vampire Weekend Contribute to Starbucks’ Valentine Compilation

It feels like we haven’t heard much from Vampire Weekend since they put out their recently released album,  Modern Vampires of the City.

The last time we covered something by them was back in June when they released the official music video for their single, “Diane Young” which featured some of their closet musical friends taking the iconic “Last Supper” painting and making it their own.

So imagine our surprise when we found out that the band will be featured on Sweatheart 2014, Starbucks’ Valentines Day 2014 compilation. Their contribution to the album is a cover of neo-classical tune “Con Te Partirò” by the one and only, Andrea Bocelli.

And yes, frontman Ezra Koenig does sing the song in Italian with of course the band’s own electro-twist.

The full track list for the compilation can be seen below while the song can be heard here.

1. Jim James – “Turn Your Lights Down Low” (Bob Marley cover)
2. Vampire Weekend – “Con Te Partirò” (Inspired by the Andrea Bocelli recording)
3. Beck – “Love” (John Lennon cover)
4. Phosphorescent – “Tomorrow Is A Long Time” (Bob Dylan cover)
5. The Head and the Heart – “Don’t Forget Me” (Harry Nilsson cover)
6. Valerie June – “Happy or Lonesome” (the Carter Family cover)
7. Bahamas – “Always on My Mind” (Willie Nelson cover)
8. Thao – “If You Were Mine” (Ray Charles cover)
9. Ben Harper – “Fade Into You” (Mazzy Star cover)
10. Fiona Apple – “I’m In The Middle of a Riddle” (Anton Karas cover)
11. Brandi Carlile – “The Chain” (Fleetwood Mac cover)
12. Blake Mills – “I Hope” (Bobby Charles cover)

M83 Release New Song for Film Soundtrack

M83’s Anthony Gonzalez is quickly becoming the go to man for soundtracks, apparently, because the French producer released a message on the group’s Facebook page revealing that the band, mostly Gonzalez we assume, will be working on another soundtrack.

The message on Facebook simply read, “This score is really for lovers and ghosts” alongside a picture of a couple in front of the moon. Since the original post was made, it has been edited to include a link to the band’s website and information about the song.

The name of the song is “Ali & Matthias” and will be featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming film, You and the Night. The film’s soundtrack marks the second time this year that he has worked on the original music for a film. Earlier this year, he contributed original music for the soundtrack of Tom Cruise’s Oblivion

While not much is known about the movie in itself, we can confirm that the film is the first feature-length film from his brother, Yann Gonzalez. Thanks in part to IMDB, we can also get an idea of what the film is about:

“Around midnight, a young couple and their transvestite maid prepare for an orgy. Their guests will be The Slut, The Star, The Stud and The Teen.”

Interesting, no?

Gonzalez also said in a message on the group’s official website that the soundtrack plays tribute to “French soundtracks from the 70′s and is much more intimate than Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming and the Oblivion Soundtrack.”

Give the lead song a listen and tell us if Anthony does what he hoped to with the soundtrack.

You And The Night will be available digitally November 19th. A physical release is scheduled for 2014 and the trailer for the film can be seen here.

New Brand New Song?

Fans of Brand New have been anxiously awaiting for the return of the band since the release of their last album, Daisy.  The band will be playing this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago, but plans after that have been on the quiet side.

Earlier this year, the were scheduled to head out on tour in Europe, but due to some family issues, the band had to cancel those dates only leaving their appearance at Riot Fest as their only touring stop this year.

Over the past couple of days, word was getting around that a brand new track had been released on the internet and some fans started to get excited over it only to be bummed; turns out this ‘new’ demo, is one that some fans have reportedly had since 2010.  Thanks to some fans on Reddit, the track has been confirmed to be titled, “Out of Range” and the song features frontman Jesse Lacey and guitarist, Vincent Accardi; other than that, details about the song and when it was made has been scarce at best.

For now, you can check out “Out of Range” and tell us what you think about it.

A few weeks back, drummer Brian Lane confirmed that things were happening with the band but kept mum on what exactly was happening following the cancellation of their European tour.

“So, I mean, definitely even this week, I feel like I wanna try and write some more, but there’s Brand New stuff happening and there’s also the APK production stuff, so it’s just about trying to balance it as best as possible. I can say that we will be back and I apologise,” Lane wrote.

“Ooo La La” Robin Thicke’s New Song Leaks

Another day, another leaked Robin Thicke song has made its way onto the internet. This time, the disco-tinged “Ooo La La” (not to be mistaken for Britney Spear’s new song by a similar name) has been released on the Interscope Records’ Soundcloud.

Thicke’s new album, The Blurred Lines, isn’t due out until next week, but the singer has been impatient at best with his new songs because this marks the sixth song that has been “leaked” from the 11-tracked album. “The Good Life,” “Give it 2 U,” “Go Stupid 4 U,” “Take it Easy on Me” and the titled track (and major summer hit) have been released on a ready public.

For now, you can check out “Ooo La La” here then head on over to his website and pre-order the new album (or just wait until Tuesday, it is right there). If you really want to hear the already released/leaked tracks you can head on over to Soundcloud and listen your little hearts out.

Selena Gomez’s New Single Hits the Web

By now you’ve probably been reading on Twitter and every other entertainment news site about Selena Gomez’s new song,  “Love Will Remember,” in which the pop star has supposedly included a voice message from her on-again off-again boyfriend and trainwreck in the making, Justin Bieber.

In it, the guy, who we all assume to be Bieber, calls the pop star “his princess” and that he loves her “so, so, so much.” Considering the history they have you know, with the constant are they or aren’t they together, who knows if it’s legit. For now, you can listen to the song below and pass judgement on your own.
