All Time Low, the Maine, and The Story So Far to headline Sad Summer Fest 2020

Well, guys, it looks like this summer is about to get a whole lot sadder.

On Tuesday (Feb. 25), the people behind last year’s Sad Summer Festival announced that the traveling music festival will once again hit the North American touring circuit for its second year.

This year’s festivities will find everyone’s favorite sad boys All Time Low headlining every single day on the newly announced roster. Joining All Time Low on the road this summer will be The Story So Far, Movements, The Maine, Yours Truly, Grayscale, and Destroy Boys.

“Rock n Roll summer camp just hits a little bit different when you’re with your friends,” All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth said in a press statement. “This tour is going to be something special, something we’ve all been chasing. Can’t fucking wait.”

The 18-stop excursion will include shows in Anaheim, Phoenix, Houston, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, Chicago, and more.

Sad Summer Fest 2020 kicks off on July 17 at Papa Murphy’s Park at Cal Expo in Sacramento and concludes a month later on Aug. 15 at The Rave in Milwaukee.

Pre-sale tickets for the summer-centric trek are currently available for purchase here using the code word SAD. General ticket sales begin this Friday, Feb. 28, at noon ET.

The Sad Summer Fest 2020 lineup announcement comes on the heels of All Time Low announcing the forthcoming release of their eighth studio album, Wake Up, Sunshine. Due out in early April, the four-piece has already released two tracks from the 15-song record; “Some Kind of Disaster” and “Sleeping In.

Last year, the inaugural Sad Summer Festival launched to fill the void left by the Vans Warped Tour. The Maine played last year’s tour along with Mayday Parade, State Champs, The Wonder Years, Mom Jeans, Stand Atlantic, L.I.F.T., and Just Friends.

Listen: The 1975 channel country-twang for ‘The Birthday Party’

You know how the 1975 promised us that their new studio album would be different than all the others?

You know how we kind of rolled our eyes and were like “whatever”?

Well, maybe we shouldn’t doubt the band anymore.

On Wednesday (Feb. 19), the British act unleashed another new song from their much-anticipated new album Notes on a Conditional Form. Titled “The Birthday Party,” the song finds the four-piece somehow combining their signature Brit-pop sound with some country-esque twang (yes, that’s a banjo you hear) to give us this five-minute ballad.

We know it sounds like a combination that’s poised for failure, but it’s the 1975 so don’t doubt them (as we have learned).

“The Birthday Party” made its official debut during Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music earlier in the day.

Watch the music video for the new track above. As a warning, it’s weird somehow managing to interweave the SIM, memes from the 2000s, Microsoft crash screens, CDs, flossing, and yeah, just watch it.

“The Birthday Party” is the fifth single off the group’s much anticipated fourth studio album, Notes on a Conditional Form. It joins their traditional “The 1975” track, “People,” “Frail State of Mind,” and last month’s new tune “Me & You Together Song” on the forthcoming studio effort.

Notes on a Conditional Form is due out April 24 through Dirty Hits/Interscope. Pre-save and pre-order options are available on the band’s website. Notes on a Conditional Form is the sister companion album to 2018’s A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships.

In support of its springtime release date, the band previously announced plans for a North American outing. The cross-continent excursion begins on April 27 at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion in Houston. It concludes a month-and-a-half later on June 11 at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, Georgia.

The full list of tour dates can be found here.

Simple Plan and New Found Glory prove Pop Punk’s Still Not Dead with an upcoming summer tour

This summer is about to get a lot more pop-punk.

Are you interested?

Of course, you are!

On Tuesday (Feb. 11), Simple Plan announced plans to embark on a summertime outing with their friends New Found Glory for the first time ever. Yes, the first time ever.

“It’s finally happening. It took almost 20 years, but we are stoked to announce that we are heading out on a US tour this summer for the 1st time ever with our friends New Found Glory,” the Canadian band posted on social media.

“We’ll be bringing Knuckle Puck as our special guests, so you know it’s gonna be RAD.”

Accompanying the message to fans is a two-minute clip staring Simple Plan frontman Pierre Bouvier (sporting an NFG shirt) and New Found Glory vocalist Jordan Pundik (rocking a Simple Plan shirt). The duo “run into each other” and start a very awkward conversation, where they discuss the impact of each other’s music.

In the end, they just decide that it would be cool if the two bands decide to head out on tour together (because what’s more pop-punk than that?).

Dubbed the “Pop Punk’s STILL Not Dead” tour, the trek will find the three bands performing at venues across the country in May and June. The 19-stop tour includes gigs in Atlanta, New York, Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Dallas, and more.

The early summer excursion begins on May 29 at Jannus Live! in St. Petersburg, Florida, and concludes a month later on June 28 at Stubb’s in Austin.

Ticket pre-sales are currently available so long as you use the code PPND.

The bands are also offering special “Very Important Pizza” VIP packages if you feel like dropping a little bit of extra dough (get it?).

General ticket sales begin this Friday, Feb. 14.

On Monday, New Found Glory announced plans to unleash a brand new studio album later this year. Titled Forever + Ever x Infinity, their tenth studio effort is due out May 29 through Hopeless Records.

As for Simple Plan, if they’re hitting the road this summer, then that probably means we should expect some new tunes soonish. Until then, we will just keep rocking some old-school SP.

The Used to release their eighth studio album in April

Hold on to your seatbelt kids, because we have a brand new album from The Used heading our way very soon!

On Friday (Feb. 7), the Utah-founded band unveiled plans to unleash their eighth studio album in late April. Titled Heartwork, the new set of tunes is due out April 24 through super-producer John Feldmann’s Big Noise Music Group record label. Pre-orders and pre-save options are now available here.

In a message to fans, the group reveals that the new album will be a mix of their first three records (The Used, In Love and Death, and Lies for the Liars).

“The new album plays on the emotions, the sincerity, and the vulnerability of the first record [The Used] and In Love and Death, with a little bit of the flair from Lies for the Liars. We can’t wait for you to hear it.”

If Heartwork really is the love child of The Used, In Love and Death, and Lies for the Liars, then we can’t wait until April.

The upcoming album will not only include 16 new tracks but several guests such as Fever 333’s Jason Aalon Butler on “Blow Me,” Travis Barker on “Obvious Blasé,” Mark Hoppus on “The Lighthouse,” and Beartooth’s Caleb Shomo on “The Lottery.”

To coincide with the new album news, The Used have treated fans to the first single (second if we’re counting “Blow Me” as an official single) from the pending release. The new song is titled “Paradise Lost, a poem by John Milton,” and yes, it is inspired by the 17th-century poem.

“I’ve always been a bit obsessed with Paradise Lost,” vocalist Bert McCracken writes to fans.

“I really dug deep into the poem and its author, John Milton. As I was reading a lot of his political essays, I realized that a lot of what’ Satan’ says in Paradise Lost are quotes directly from John Milton’s own mouth. A lot of people thought he was the devil back then. He had a huge problem with the show of opulence from the Church. He thought it was disgusting. His poem is about the failed revolution against the Church of England, which is Satan’s failed revolution on earth. And what’s more incredible or exciting than a failed revolution?”

Watch the music video for the new song above.

Heartwork is the follow-up to 2017’s The Canyon.

The Used is currently in the middle of their intimate venue tour. Tonight, they will take over the Baltimore Soundstage in Baltimore.

The outing concludes on Feb. 22 at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix. The list of remaining tour dates can be found here.

Because the emo scene is having a resurgence in a big way, McCracken recently teased that The Used COULD be touring with My Chemical Romance during their upcoming reunion tour.

“I feel like I’m in My Chemical Romance! And you might catch us on tour with My Chemical Romance in the fall,” the singer said. (Watch the video and listen carefully here. Thanks, Rocksound.)

Considering there was no love lost between the bands over the last decade or so (there was a massive fallout that not even the fans were privy to), it would be cool to see McCracken and My Chem perform “You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us In Prison” or their cover of “Under Pressure.”

Only time will tell.

The 1975 go full coming-of-age teen films in ‘Me & You Together Song’

You know how we all said that the 1975’s new song could easily soundtrack a coming-of-age teen film from the 2000s? Well, it looks like the band listened because their music video for it seems to channel all of that cheesiness.

On Thursday (Feb. 6), the British band unleashed the music video for their latest single “Me & You Together Song.”

The band is seen playing in a room that looks similar to any band-centric music video from the 2000s (we honestly thought of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Going Down” at first).

It’s like the director asked the band, “How many 2000s Easter eggs do you want?” and the group responded with “yes.”

In between shots of the foursome, we see couples making out or hooking up. Playing up the teen film cliches, we see a rocker dude pining over the perky popular girl. We also see a cool alternative chick catching the eye of a shy dude, both of them eventually hooking up.

But, it’s not just heterosexual couples in the video. The band does an excellent job of including all kinds of couples in the music video because love is love.

Watch the music video for “Me & You Together Song” above.

“Me & You Together Song” is the fourth single off the 1975’s much-anticipated fourth studio album,  Notes on a Conditional Form.  It joins their traditional “The 1975” track, “People,” and “Frail State of Mind” on the forthcoming studio effort.

Notes on a Conditional Form is due out April 24.

Stay calm: 5 Seconds of Summer to release new album in March, unleash ‘No Shame’

5 Seconds of Summer may be able to keep CALM at the moment, but their fan base is definitely not.

On Wednesday (Feb. 5), the Australian band formally unveiled the name of their much-anticipated fourth studio effort. Dubbed C.A.L.M. (you know, the first letter of each of the guys’ names?), the record is due out March 27.

Pre-save and pre-order options are currently live on the band’s website.

The forthcoming album will feature 12-new tracks, including previously released songs “Easier,” “Teeth,” and their brand new single “No Shame” which can be streamed above.

Like their recent tour announcement, the foursome took to social media to reveal all the new information. Accompanying the news was a 20-second clip that features some live performance shots and behind-the-scenes footage, all with a grainy filter making it feel like it was something straight from the 1990s grunge era (think Nirvana and old-school Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails).

The new album information comes less than a week after the band announced plans to embark on a massive North American outing during the late summer.

The “No Shame” tour (which we now know is named after one of the album’s new tunes) will find the quartet performing at venues across the continent in August and September.

The tour begins on Aug. 12 at the Sports Palace in Mexico City and concludes on Sept. 26 at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California.

The Band Camino will join 5SOS on the upcoming trek.

The full list of tour dates can be found here.

Tickets go on sale next Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. local time.

Every ticket purchased will include a physical copy of the impending album. C.A.L.M. is the follow-up to 2018’s smash hit Youngblood.

Listen: Silverstein return with ‘Bad Habits’

With a few weeks left before they hit the North American touring circuit, Silverstein has returned with yet another new song off their upcoming new studio effort.

On Wednesday (Feb. 5), the Canadian band unleashed the second single off their tenth studio album, A Beautiful Place to Drown. Titled “Bad Habits,” the barely-three-minute tune sounds…well…like a Silverstein song. Listen to the new track above and tell us that the mesh of melodic rhythm, screams, and catchy hooks is not this group’s signature (we know we’re right).

A Beautiful Place to Drown is due out March 6 through independent record label UNFD. Pre-orders for the record are currently available for purchase here.

Silverstein’s last studio album was 2017’s Dead Reflection.

Last February, the five-piece released a retrospective album titled Redux: The First Ten Years. The compilation featured newly-recorded versions of select songs from their first four studio albums (When Broken is Easily Fixed, Discovering the Waterfront, Arrivals & Departures, and A Shipwreck in the Sand).

Later this month, the group will hit the road on their massive 20th-anniversary tour. The 33-stop outing begins on Feb. 28 at the London Music Hall in London, Ontario, and concludes a month and a half later on April 11 at the Danforth in Toronto.

The full tour itinerary can be found here.

For those attending the anniversary gigs, it looks like the group’s setlist may come in at 29 songs….or the band may just be trolling everyone.

Incubus, 311, and Badflower to embark on massive summer 2020 tour

Get your summer clothes and blunts ready because Incubus is hitting the road this summer for a massive United States-centric tour.

On Tuesday (Feb. 4), the California-founded band announced plans to hit the touring circuit during the summer months. Heading out with them during the trek will be 311 (who will be celebrating their 30th anniversary by playing all 50 states throughout 2020) and Badflower.

The 36-stop outing will find the bands performing at venues across the country throughout July, August, and September. The three acts will take the stage at a slew of major cities, including Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Atlanta, Tampa, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Nashville, and more.

The upcoming tour kicks off on July 15 at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington and concludes almost two months on Sept. 5 at the Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana.

Pre-sale tickets for the summertime outing go on sale this Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. local time. General ticket sales begin this Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. local time.

The forthcoming tour will be in support of Incubus’ recently announced EP, Trust Falls (Side B). The much-anticipated record is due out in April.

It’s been five years since Incubus released Trust Fall (Side A).

Before confirming the new EP, fans have been waiting patiently for new music. Last August, they released “Into the Summer,” and just last week, they unveiled another new track titled “Our Love.”

Both songs will reportedly be featured on the upcoming record.

Incubus’ last studio album was 2017’s 8.

My Chemical Romance officially confirm North American reunion tour for the fall

The My Chemical Romance reunion is officially the gift that keeps on giving.

Following what has felt like months of teasers (real talk, it’s only been a few weeks), the New Jersey-founded band finally announced plans to give their North American MCRmy some love.

On Wednesday (Jan. 29), the four-piece posted a theatrical 13-minute video where all the teasers they dropped fused into one mini-film. Towards the end of the lengthy clip, dates, venues, and cities started to appear confirming what fans had been hoping for since the group decided it was time to reunite.

My Chemical Romance’s reunion tour will run for 18 days and stop in major cities such as St. Paul, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas, and more.

The fall time outing begins on Sept. 9 at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and concludes a month later on Oct. 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

My Chemical Romance’s reunion comes seven years after the group decided to take a break. In December, they got the band back together for a show at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles which sold out in seconds.
