Tonight Alive announce 2019 North American tour, handful of ten-year anniversary gigs

After a year of nonstop touring, it doesn’t look like Tonight Alive are planning on slowing down in the new year. On Tuesday (Oct. 30), the Australian band unveiled a lengthy North American tour itinerary that will find them performing across the continent during the months of January and February. Titled the Underworld tour (after their recently released record), the upcoming trek will include stops in Dallas, Orlando, Atlanta, Baltimore, New York City, Chicago, Salt Lake City, and Denver.

The Underworld tour will begin on Jan. 18 at the Garden Grove in Garden Grove, California and conclude a month and a half later on Feb. 24 at the Roxy in Los Angeles. I the Mighty and Doll Skin will join Tonight Alive during the full excursion.

In addition to the tour dates, the band also revealed that they will perform a handful of special ten-year anniversary gigs to celebrate ten years of the band. The special shows will take place in select cities (Santa Ana, New York, Boston, Denver, and Los Angeles) and will consist of an acoustic set.

“Good morning North American angel humans!,” begins the band’s post on Twitter. “It’s about time we brought the Underworld tour over to you. Conscious Rock gigs with I the Mighty and Doll Skin with special 10-year anniversary acoustic shows in selected cities!”

Tickets for the newly announced shows go on sale beginning this Friday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. local time.

Prior to embarking on the North American leg of the Underworld tour, Tonight Alive will conclude 2018 with the United Kingdom leg of the trek.

The Underworld tour is in support of the group’s recently released record, Underworld. Underworld was released in January of 2018 through Hopeless Records. For now, the band’s full North American tour itinerary can be seen below.

Tonight Alive drops new song featuring Lynn Gunn

With a week left until the release of their impending new album, Tonight Alive has released yet another new song from the record. On Thursday (Jan. 4), the Australian band made their way to Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show to debut “Disappear.” The new song features guest vocals by PVRIS’ Lynn Gunn. A short time after unleashing the song on the radio, Tonight Alive unveiled the official music video for the new tune.

The clip finds Tonight Alive frontwoman Jenna McDougall with earbuds in her ears as she walks and rides a subway around a town aimlessly. As she walks around the city, she begins to run into the same three people repeatedly. Eventually, she decides to run away with one of her followers only for the woman to disappear, leaving her in the middle of a street wondering what happened. Watch the music video for “Disappear” above.

“‘Disappear’ is a song about the escapist inside all of us. As you can expect from Tonight Alive, the lyrics discuss freedom, but this time with a flavor of anonymity and detachment,” begins McDougall. “‘Disappear’ was written with the intention of sounding neither like PVRIS or Tonight Alive, and aimed to capture the sonic imagery of a long straight highway out of your comfort zone.”

“Disappear” will join previously released tracks “Crack My Heart” and “Temple” on the band’s upcoming fourth studio album, Underworld. Underworld is set to be released on Jan. 12 through Hopeless Records. Underworld will mark the group’s first album to be released through Hopeless Records as opposed to their longtime home of Fearless Records.

In support of Underworld’s release, Tonight Alive will hit the road alongside Silverstein later this month. “The Get Free Tour” will kick off on Jan. 19 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio and wrap up about a month-and-a-half later on March 1 at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Tonight Alive drops music video for ‘Crack My Heart’

With a month left until the release of their fourth studio album, Tonight Alive has gifted fans another new song from the upcoming album. On Monday (Dec. 11), the Australian band released the music video for their latest track “Crack My Heart.” In a press release, vocalist Jenna McDougall explained the concept behind the brand new song.

“The concept of cracking the heart is to allow the precious, vulnerable self to come through and be free. The painful, yet liberating experience involves the emotional and energetic decalcification of the hardened heart,” she begins.

“The lyrics follow my conversation with a ‘winged man,’ a conscious figure, who offers space and safety to do my healing with. In my experience, when you are seen as your authentic self by another, you come to recognize your reflection more accurately and lovingly. Crack My Heart is a tribute to the way that love from the divine masculine elevates and holds space for the divine feminine to flourish.”

“Crack My Heart” will join previously released single “Temple” on the band’s impending new album, Underworld. Underworld is set to be released on Jan. 12 through Hopeless Records. Underworld will mark the group’s first album to be released through Hopeless Records. Back in April, the band announced they had left their longtime home of Fearless Records for Hopeless for the new album.

In support of Underworld‘s release, Tonight Alive previously announced plans to hit the road in early 2018 with Silverstein. “The Get Free Tour” will kick off on Jan. 19 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio and wrap up about a month-and-a-half later on March 1 at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Silverstein, Tonight Alive to embark on ‘Get Free Tour’ in 2018

Now that 2017 is only a couple of months away from coming to an end, Silverstein has already confirmed plans to hit the road in early 2018. On Monday (Oct. 16), the Canadian band officially announced their first tour of the new year. The trek, which has been named “The Get Free Tour,” will kick off on Jan. 19, 2018 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio and wrap up about a month-and-a-half later on March 1, 2018 at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Co-headlining the tour with Silverstein will be Australian outfit, Tonight Alive. Supporting both acts on the upcoming tour will be Virginia five-piece Broadside and Kentucky-founded Picturesque.

In addition to announcing their major tour with Tonight Alive, Silverstein has also released the music video for their latest single, “Lost Positives.” The music video for the song is very dark, but considering the lyrics for the song includes lines like “lying is letting you go” and “miserable script full of words that I won’t say,” it’s not surprising that the group decided to go in a darker direction. The almost-four-minute clip was directed by Wyatt Clough and Roger Galvez and can currently be seen above.

“Lost Positives” can be found on Silverstein’s recently released ninth studio album Dead Reflection. The record was released this past summer with the band touring behind it since it was formally announced. Silverstein isn’t the only band who will be promoting their new album on the upcoming tour. Earlier this week, Tonight Alive formally announced the release date and title for their impending new record. The new album will be titled Underworld and is set to be released on Jan. 19, 2018 through Hopeless Records.

Tickets for the upcoming tour can be found here while the complete list of tour stops can be seen below.

Tonight Alive sign to Hopeless Records, unveil new song

Over the weekend, Hopeless Records had teased on social media that they would be signing a brand new band to their record label. On Monday (April 3), the record label confirmed that Australian group, Tonight Alive, would be the newest addition to their family. “So excited to welcome Tonight Alive to the Hopeless fam!” said the record label’s official Twitter account.

In addition to their new home at Hopeless, Tonight Alive also unleashed a brand new song. Heading over to Daniel P. Carter’s BBC 1 Radio show, the group premiered their new tune, “World Away.” “‘World Away’ is a continuation of our quest for self understanding and empowerment, but this time through developing a personal relationship with darkness,” vocalist Jenna McDougall said in a statement.

She continues: “In a society that conditions us to suppress and shy away from confronting emotions, we wrote an invitation in ‘World Away’ to shake hands with what scares us most and begin recognizing the opportunity for growth in struggle.” The official music video for “World Away” which was directed by Megan Thompson can be seen above.

Currently, there is word on whether “World Away” will be featured on Tonight Alive’s upcoming new album. According to a press release from the band, they will hit the studio later this summer to record the follow-up to 2016’s Limitless. This new album will mark Tonight Alive’s first record with Hopeless; their previous three albums were released through Fearless Records.

Earlier this year, the band teased fans that they were in the process of working on new material. During an interview, frontman Kellin Quinn said that the new album would be a return to form and going back to “who we are.”

“It’s definitely going to be focused on us re-branding and thinking about our music in terms of what we really want to do with it,” explained Quinn at the time. “I think when you’re making music and you’re expected to do certain things with your band, you kinda lose your touch and your focus. I definitely think this record is us getting back to who we are; getting back to concentrating on the music itself.”

Back in March of 2015, the band released their fourth studio album, Madness.

Tonight Alive Confirm New Album, Release Lead Single

Back in July, Tonight Alive revealed they had finished recording their new album, the follow-up to 2013’s The Other Side. Now, several months later, the group has revealed not only the name of the album and the release date, but also the first single off of it.

The Australian band’s upcoming new album will be titled Limitless and is set to be released on March 4, 2016 through Fearless Records. The first single off of the impending release is a track titled “Human Interaction.” Watch the music video for the song below.

“Following an emotional reaction to our second record, The Other Side, and the healing of its touring cycle, we were allowed the clarity to explore a newfound, centered version of ourselves where creating something meaningful and everlasting was of the highest importance,” says frontwoman Jenna McDougall about the upcoming release.

“This record shares our journey of harnessing personal power and acts as the long-awaited answer to the questions of our previous records.”

Tonight Alive Finish New Album

image

Months after wrapping up their tour with All Time Low and a confirmation they were headed into the studio to record a new album, Tonight Alive have announced the new album has been completed.

Frontwoman Jenna McDougall took to Twitter and Instagram to post photos of her last day in the booth where she was recording vocals for the Australian group’s new full-length record.

Back in April, the band confirmed the news that they were working on a new album when they announced the cancellation of two headlining shows due to drummer Matt Best’s Tendinosis getting worse. Best was diagnosed following the group’s set at Soundwave 2015.

In a letter to fans, Best announced that due to the injury he would have a hard time performing a complete headlining set, but was able to get “through the album recording.” A good sign for those fans who have been waiting a couple of years for new music.

Though there has been no name given for the new record, it appears the album is set for a projected release time frame of this fall through Fearless Records. The yet-to-be-titled album will be the follow-up to 2013′s The Other Side.

Tonight Alive Cancel Two Upcoming Shows

image

Fans of Australian band Tonight Alive were given some bad news yesterday afternoon; the band cancelled two of their upcoming, headlining gigs. The shows were set to take place in Boise, ID and Jacksonville FL.

The announcement came after drummer Matt Best had been diagnosed with Tendinosis following Soundwave 2015 which would require surgery.

Despite the two cancellations, the band will continue their trek across the country as a supporting acts for All Time Low’s current “Future Hearts Tour” which began last week.

As Best wrote in a message to fans on Facebook, the All Time Low gig is only 30 minutes long, but even that seems to be too much for the drummer who admits that he gets through the set because of “painkillers and 24/7 care.”

Read the full post below which also confirms that the band had returned to the recording studio to record their new album.

“Hey guys,

I’m really sorry to say that we have to cancel the upcoming Boise, ID and Jacksonville, FL headline shows.

I was recently diagnosed with tendinosis and tears within the TFCC (ligaments and cartilage) of my wrist during Soundwave 2015.

Although it’s been very painful to play, I’ve been getting through the album recording and All Time Low shows with a lot of painkillers and 24/7 care but it’s been getting harder and I’m having more trouble than I thought.Right now we’ve realized that there is just no way I would be able to play a full headline show. The All Time Low support shows are 30 minutes long and I’m only just about getting through them.

I’m in need of surgery as soon as I get back to Australia, so I’ll be fit and ready to go on the next tour providing the rehab goes well. We really hate to cancel any shows and we promise to come back to Boise and Jacksonville just as soon as we can. I’m sorry for any inconveniences that may occur from this.

Thank you for all your support and understanding,

Matty”
