Deryck Whibley Returns to the Studio

It’s been a long year for Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley.

The musician was admitted into the hospital for kidney and liver failure back in May due to years of alcohol abuse leading to him to proclaim a sober lifestyle.

During the course of his recovery, he did reveal that while admitted, his musical muse had returned to him, inspiring him to write some new music.

Now, over six months after being in the hospital, Whibley has posted several pictures on the band’s official Facebook page of him back in the studio (as seen above) looking a lot better than he did when he wrote to fans about being rushed to the hospital back in May. The caption for the photo simply reads, “I go to work.”

The uploaded pictures also include shots of instruments and a shot of Whibley jamming with Sum 41 guitarist Tom Thacker which could be proof that some new music from the Canadian group might be on the horizon for 2015.

If or when this new album becomes a reality it will be the band’s first new record since 2011’s Screaming Bloody Murder, which was released Island Records.
