Green Day share NHL opening theme song ‘Fire, Ready, Aim’

Green Day is ready to take aim and fire.

On Thursday (Oct. 10), the Calfornia punk rockers unleashed another new song from their upcoming studio effort.

Titled “Fire, Ready, Aim,” the track is not only the latest single from their forthcoming record but also the theme for the 2019-2020 NHL season.

The song and its accompanying music video made its worldwide premiere during the New Jersey Devils versus Philadelphia Flyers game on Wednesday night (Oct. 9).

The barely two-minute clip for the song features the threesome playing the track in the middle of the ice rink surrounded by flames, special effects, screens playing montages of the players, and yes, that is drummer Tré Cool shooting a puck into the net.

The full video can be found here, while the audio for the new track can be streamed above.

Green Day’s performance comes a few weeks after news broke that the band had signed a two-year deal with the NHL. The partnership will find the group and the league joining forces throughout the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons.

The deal includes the now-released opening theme song for NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Hockey and the headlining set at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game set to take place on Jan. 25 in St. Louis.

“Fire, Ready, Aim” is the second single off Green Day’s upcoming 13th studio album Father of All…The forthcoming release is due out Feb. 7 via the band’s longtime home of Reprise Warner.

Last month, Green Day announced not only the release of the new album but also a massive summer 2020 tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Even though the Hella Mega world tour isn’t set to happen until next summer, tickets for the tour are already on sale and going fast.

This may be an excellent time to add Hella Mega tour tickets to your holiday shopping list….we’re just saying.

It’s “Only the Bulls” for Fall Out Boy and Lupe Fiasco

When you’ve had the same theme song for your basketball team, how exactly do you give the song a new, modern twist to it?

According to the Chicago Bulls all you really need to do is give it to some of your hometown musicians and let them have their way with it.

Instead of coming up with a brand new theme for the team, the Bulls gave Fall Out Boy and Lupe Fiasco the challenge of modernizing the song titled “Only the Bulls.”

The remix of the song features the original composition by Ira Antelid, Cheryl Berman and Steve Schanwald will be played during the teams pre-game warm-ups and fourth quarter celebrations at the United Center in Chicago.

Check out the remixed version of the song below and tell us what you think about the update.

This isn’t the first time Fall Out Boy have teamed up with Lupe Fiasco on a track. The rapper and the band collaborated on a remixed version of FOB’s hit song, “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” from 2007’s Infinity on High. Fiasco worked exclusively with FOB frontman, Patrick Stump on a remixed version of his song “This City” from his solo album, Soul Punk.

Ever since the announcement was made that iconic 90s show, Boy Meets World would be getting a spin-off, fans of the show, new and old, have been anticipating its Summer debut.

At this point, we have already been introduced to adult Cory and Topanga Matthews as well as their daughter Riley, who will be the “Cory” in the series. We were also introduced to the “Shawn” of the show, Maya as well as breifly introduced to the potential “Topanga,” Lucas.

Disney Channel, kindly, has already released a trailer for the upcoming series and even aired the pilot episode on their online streaming service. Today, the theme song for the show made its debut and it is different than the Boy Meets World theme most of us grew up with (remember the first season did not have an actual theme song?). The song, “Take on the World” was performed by series stars Rowan Blanchard (Riley) and Sabrina Carpenter (Maya).

Check out the song below and don’t forget, Girl Meets World debuts on June 27 at 9:45 p.m. after Disney Channel Original Movie, Zapped.

Anthony Bourdain has had lots of rock stars on his show, but one in particular is coming back once again to join the foodie. Josh Homme is back once again with fellow bandmate, Mark Lanegan to record the theme song for Bourdain’s new and widely announced CNN show, Parts Unknown.

Bourdain said in a statement recently about the theme song, “When you hear the new title music for Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown your head will explode, leaving only a smoking stump. When we heard what (Homme and Lanegan) had come up with, there was weeping and jaw-droppage.”

The first episode of Parts Unknown aired on CNN Sunday night, but can be seen here where, coincidentally, you can hear the song in all its glory, just remember to fast forward to the :50 mark.

Episode one takes place in Myanmar and the description reads, “a human-powered Ferris wheel, a punk rock group and the scariest train ride ever. If you missed Anthony Bourdain in Myanmar.”

Enjoy.
