Vans Warped Tour launches at sea edition

What’s more fun than getting all your friends together to spend 12 hours in the heat as you watch some of your favorite bands perform 30 minute sets? How about doing the same exact thing, except on a boat in the middle of the ocean during the week of Halloween? On Wednesday (Dec. 7), Vans Warped Tour head-honcho Kevin Lyman announced the inaugural Warped Rewind at Sea cruise.

As the name implies, Warped Rewind at Sea takes all the things Warped Tour attendees love about the “punk-rock summer camp” and places them on a cruise ship. The event will be a “special experience for 2,300 Warped fans” which will include personal interactions with some of their favorite musicians.

The cruise, which will take place during the week of Oct. 28, 2017-Nov. 1, 2017 will include a four-night round-trip cruise from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico. During the four nights, the passengers will be treated to multiple performances by 3OH!3, Bowling for Soup, Cartel, Good Charlotte, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Simple Plan, the Starting Line, and more to be announced at a later date.

The excursion will also feature DJs and comedians, much like Warped Tour on land, as well as a Q&A session with Lyman, activities and autograph sessions with the artists, “Emo Nite” parties, and more.

“Packing as much fun into a ship as we do into a parking lot seemed like a great challenge, and Sixthman has given us that opportunity,” said Lyman in a press release. “We are excited to finally bring Warped Tour to the sea and we hope you can join us.”

Tickets for Warped Rewind at Sea are currently available on the event’s website here. Watch the official announcement video below as you start planning how to shove all your black clothes and eyeliner into one huge luggage (spoiler: it’s hard).

Taste of Chaos-San Bernardino lineup unveiled

When it was announced that Taste of Chaos would be making a triumphant return in 2015, the people behind the once-great music festival decided to keep it as a one-day event in its hometown of San Bernardino, CA. After a successful event, plans were made to take the festival back on the road, after an almost six-year hiatus. Earlier this month, it was announced that the Rockstar Energy Drink Taste of Chaos Tour would hit the road again with its last stop being where it all began; the San Manuel Amphitheater Festival Grounds in San Bernardino.

On Monday (March 28), festival organizers unveiled the list of performers set to take the stage when the festival closes out in mid-July. Previously announced bands Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, Saosin, and the Early November will perform during that last show. In addition to the previously announced four acts, bands like Quicksand, the Get Up Kids, the Starting Line, Senses Fail, the Anniversary, Hot Rod Circuit, and Reggie and the Full Effect will all take the stage during that show.

“After seeing the success of last year’s Taste Of Chaos, it was clear that there was a demand for the festival’s return. We’re excited to be able to bring this expanded music lineup to the Southern California show,” said co-founder Kevin Lyman.

“I am so happy to know fans are excited about this lineup, but I know I am the MOST excited. Dashboard Confessional gets to play for our favorite people WITH our favorite people. I cannot imagine a better way to spend the summer,” reveals Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba.

Agreeing with their soon-to-be tour mate are Taking Back Sunday who added, “It’s going to be good to be back in the company of so many bands we are both friends with and fans of.”

Taste of Chaos will arrive at the San Manuel Amphitheater Festival Grounds in San Bernardino on July 16. Tickets for the show will go on sale beginning this Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m. PT. The complete list of tour dates for the 2016 Taste of Chaos tour can be seen here.

Taste of Chaos announces first tour in over five years

Taste of Chaos made a triumphant return in 2015 with its one-day music festival in California and now, it looks like they are ready to conquer North America once again. On Monday (March 14), it was announced that the Vans Warped Tour’s sister festival will once again hit the road in 2016. Instead of traveling across the country in the winter which is how it earned its nickname, Winter Warped, the traveling rock show will take place during the spring/summer.

But if the plans to hit the road after six years of radio silence isn’t enough to get you to go, then the bands that will hit the road on the tour will convince you. Bands like Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, and The Early November will headline all the tour dates. Saosin, Motion City Soundtrack, and The Starting Line will also play selected dates. This will be the second full tour this year that Saosin will go on that will feature former vocalist Anthony Green on the microphone. Unlike this being good news for Saosin fans, this tour might mark the last time Motion City Soundtrack hits the road together before their indefinite hiatus.

The 2016 Rockstar Energy Drink’s Taste of Chaos tour kick-off on June 3 at the FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago and wrap up a month-and-a-half later on July 16 at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA; the place where the resurrection of Taste of Chaos all began last October. The Starting Line Release Video for “Anyways”

It’s been  few months since The Starting Line released their new song “Anyways.” Now, the group is giving their fans the official music video for the new track. On Tuesday (Feb. 2), the Philadelphia-based band joined forces with Fuse to premiere the new music video. The video featured the band doing what they do best: putting on a show for their dedicated fan base. Watch the video for “Anyways” below.

“Anyways” is the title track from the band’s upcoming 7-inch which is due out on Feb. 19 through Downtown Records. In conjunction with the video’s premiere, frontman Kenny Vasoli sat down with Fuse to talk about a lot of things like the future of the band. As it turns out, a new full-length album is not in the band’s immediate future. Instead, Vasoli said told the media outlet that the group hasn’t exactly spoken about it.

“We haven’t really had too many conversations about it. I would be interested in doing another 7-inch, something more focused,” said Vasoli. “I like that it’s not a single and it’s not really an EP or a record. The whole package of a 7-inch is a cool way to let out some new material because the people who really care about it are going to hunt for something like that.”

As of now, Vasoli says that he’s solely focused on his other band, Vacationer. According to the singer, the act is his “bread and butter.” Vacationer will be hitting the high seas with Paramore, New Found Glory, Lights, and CHVRCHES for Paramore’s PARAHOY! cruise next month.

Stream The Starting Line’s New Track “Anyways”

Earlier this week The Starting Line confirmed the release of their first album in eight years. Now, the group is giving fans the change to hear the first song off of the highly anticipated LP. On Thursday (Dec. 17), the Philadelphia band released the title track of their upcoming 7-inch, Anyways. The song was released exclusively to Noisey earlier in the day, but is now available for streaming below.

Check out “Anyways” below and let us know how you feel about the band’s “return” track.

News of The Starting Line’s new music comes well over a year after the band teased fans about it. During their holiday show last year in their hometown, frontman Kenny Vasoli announced that they had new material and that it would be released in the new year. At the time of the announcement, the new year was 2015 which is now a couple of weeks away from wrapping up.

during a recent interview, Vasoli was asked about the direction of the new material, and according to him it will stick to what they are good at; punk rock. “It’s still punk rock. We’re always going to sound like The Starting Line,” he explained. “I feel like I’ve stepped back far enough that I can really identify with what I liked about pop punk and what I appreciate about it now.”

Anyways is scheduled to be released on Feb. 5, 2016 through Downtown Records. Teh three-track 7-inch was produced by Will Yip and is The Starting Line’s first set of new songs since 2007’s Direction.

The Starting Line Confirm Release of New Music

Fans of The Starting Line have been waiting almost a year for new music. Now, the wait is finally over. On Monday (Dec. 14), the Starting Line confirmed that they will be releasing new music in the new year. According to the band, they will be releasing a new 7-inch titled Anyways which is set to hit stores on Feb. 5, 2016.

In addition to the confirmation, the band also revealed that the first new track will debut this upcoming Thursday, Dec. 14. The new song comes almost a year after The Starting Line first announced they had new music in the works. During their annual holiday show in Philadelphia last year, frontman Kenny Vasoli announced the news and then followed it up by playing a new song. A couple of days later, a video from the show was uploaded onto the internet.

Recently, Vasoli was the subject of a profile for Phillyvoice. When he was asked about the direction of the band’s new music, he told the publication that “it’s still punk rock.”

“It’s still punk rock. We’re always going to sound like The Starting Line,” he explains to the publication.
“I feel like I’ve stepped back far enough that I can really identify with what I liked about pop punk and what I appreciate about it now.”

Anyways, and the new song, will be the band’s first set of new songs since the release of 2007’s Direction.

Real Friends to Release Record Store Day EP

Real Friends took to Twitter, and probably every other social media account of theirs, earlier in the day to tease some big news to their followers

With in 15 minutes of that announcement, the Illinois band had revealed that they will be releasing a new EP titled More Acoustic Songs on Record Store Day (April 18).

In a video that they posted, the track list for the vinyl release was unveiled. “I Don’t Love You Anymore,” Late Nights in My Car,” and “Summer” will be featured on the record as well as a cover of The Starting Line’s song, “Island”

Check out the teaser below.

In a statement, both bassist Kyle Fasel and vocalist Dan Lambton revealed their excitement to be a part of this year’s Record Store Day and as to why they decided to go the acoustic route for the release.

“We are stoked to showcase our songs in acoustic form,” said Fasel.

“The main reason we did this was for personal taste. We all have connected with acoustic music in the past and currently. It’s also an added bonus to highlight these versions of our songs to our fans. It shows our songs in another light that we are very excited about sharing.”

“I am extremely excited that Real Friends is being included in this year’s Record Store Day,” added Lambton.

“RSD gives people a reason to leave the comfort of their homes and the ease of online shopping in order to have an actual experience when buying new music. It can introduce younger listeners to great record stores in their areas that they might not otherwise find if they were to strictly do their record shopping online. To be a part of something that is continually providing exciting releases to highlight and celebrate vinyl is very humbling.”

More Acoustic Songs will be available only at independent record store on Record Store Day.

In other news, Real Friends will be heading out on tour this spring alongside The Maine, Knuckle Puck, and The Technicolors. Full tour dates can be seen here.

The Starting Line to Release New Album in 2015?

Could a new Starting Line album be on the horizon for 2015? According to Property of Zack, it just might be.

During the band’s annual holiday show at the Trocadero in Philadelphia last night (Dec. 26), frontman Kenny Vasoli, allegedly confirmed that the band would be releasing new material in the new year. They then followed the confirmation up by performing a new song live; no title was give for said song.

Thanks to a member of the POZ family, they recorded said new song which can be seen, and heard, in a low quality video below.

The new album will be the band’s long-awaited follow-up to 2007’s Direction which is great news for those who have been waiting seven years for that.

But then again, maybe we should not be getting ahead of ourselves with thoughts of new music and even a nationwide tour until we have video or social media confirmation that a new album is in the works and when the projected release date is.
