Download Festival is ready to return and rock your socks off!

On Monday (Aug. 3), the United Kingdom-based music festival announced its first wave of performers for the 2021 incarnation of the event.

KISS, System of a Down, Biffy Clyro, A Day to Remember, Korn, Deftones, Black Veil Brides, the Pretty Reckless, Killswitch Engage, The Darkness, and a slew more are set to take over four different stages during the first weekend of June 2021.

At the end of the weekend-long festivities, over 70 bands would have descended and performed at the annual event.

Like every other music festival, Download had to cancel this year’s show due to the worldwide pandemic. This year’s event would have included performances from Iron Maiden, System of a Down, and KISS.

Thankfully, the festival was able to once again secure KISS and System of a Down as headliners for next year’s gig.

“2020 has been a tough year for us all, and we were beyond gutted not to be able to experience Download Festival with you all,” Download Festival’s Andy Copping said in a press statement.

“We gave you Download TV to reflect on memories of the past, and what the festival means to all of us.

Download 2021 is going to be something special and go down in the history books as when the Download family reunited. We’re going to be working hard behind the scenes to make Download 2021 an unforgettable experience and a celebration of the festival we all love.”

“We’re disappointed we weren’t able to make it over this year, but we’re looking forward to next,” System of a Down’s Shavo Odadjian said.

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Mostly, we all just want to make sure everyone is provided with a safe and secure environment, so we were prepared to wait as long as we needed to.”

Download Festival will return to its home of Donington Park during the weekend of June 4-6, 2021. General tickets for the three-day show will go on sale this Friday, Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. on the festival’s website.

The first wave of performers can be found below.

The Pretty Reckless return with ‘Death By Rock and Roll’

The Pretty Reckless is back with a brand new song, just in time to jumpstart the weekend.

On Friday (May 15), the New York-found act unleashed their first new track in almost four years.

Dubbed “Death By Rock and Roll,” the new jam is just that; four minutes of hard-rocking instruments and frontwoman Taylor Momsen’s grainy voice making the listener miss the days of being in a mosh pit, sticking up their devil horns.

“In a lot of ways, this new album feels like a rebirth and our first single, ‘Death by Rock And Roll,’ represents that salvation that my favorite music brings me,” Momsen said in a press statement.

“Rock is freedom, and this song is about living life the way you want, and now that belongs to everyone who listens.”

“Death By Rock and Roll” is the band’s first taste of new music since 2016’s Who You Selling For.

Back in February, Momsen revealed that the band’s new album was almost finished and would feature some “can’t miss” collaborations.

Earlier this month, the group revealed that they had joined the Fearless Records family.

We joined the Fearless Records Family! Get ready for what’s next,” the group tweeted.

While the band has spoken about their fourth studio album, they have yet to reveal its name or when it’s expected to be released.

First wave of Alternative Press Music Awards performers announced

The Journeys Alternative Press Music Awards, Fueled by Monster Energy Drink is a couple of months away from happening and the people behind the annual music awards have just unveiled the first wave of performers. On Monday (April 17), Alternative Press unveiled that bands like All Time Low, New Years Day, Sleeping with Sirens, Pierce the Veil, and The Pretty Reckless, and more are just some of the artists heading to Ohio in mid-July.

In addition to the above mentioned acts, rap icon Bone Thugs (the extension of Bone Thugs N Harmony), Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Against Me!, Machine Gun Kelly, and metal icons Korn will also grace the stage during the show.

“We’re really excited to perform at this year’s awards and are looking forward to seeing all our fans in Cleveland,” Korn frontman Jonathan Davis said in a statement. “I performed at the first ever APMAs back in 2014 with Asking Alexandria, and it’s been awesome to watch how this show has grown over the years.”

Winter may be in full effect in some places in the United States, but that just means we’re a lot closer to festival season. On Monday (Jan. 9), the people behind the “World’s Loudest Month” announced the complete lineup for the eleventh annual Rocklahoma. Def Leppard, Soundgarden, and The Offspring are just some of the big names heading to Oklahoma in late-May.

The music festival which has been dubbed “America’s Biggest Memorial Day Weekend Party” will also include performance from Taking Back Sunday, Pierce the Veil, The Pretty Reckless, Skillet, Suicidal Tendencies, Three Days Grace, Stone Sour, Seether and many more.

“Every year we try to find that delicate balance of talent at Rocklahoma, and the lineup we’ve put together for 2017 will not disappoint,” said Joe Litvag, executive producer of Rocklahoma, about the newly unveiled lineup.

“Def Leppard has been on the wish list of our most loyal fans since the festival was created back in 2007, and to couple them, one of the most influential British rock bands of the last 30+ years, with Soundgarden, one of the most respected American rock bands of our generation, is really special for us. Add to the mix some of the hottest developing talent like Pierce the Veil, The Pretty Reckless, Nothing More, and Rival Sons, and I think we’ve accomplished the goal of achieving one of the most diverse festival lineups of the year anywhere.”

Pre-sale weekend tickets and layaway packages will be available for purchase beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. CST on the festival’s website. For those a little strapped for cash but wanting to go to Rocklahoma, the layaway option allows attendees to split the cost into four monthly payments. Following a few days of pre-dales, general, public sales will begin on Friday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. CST.

Rocklahoma will return to its home of the ‘Catch the Fever’ Festival Grounds in Pryor during the weekend of May 26-28. For now, the complete list of artists can be seen below.

The Pretty Reckless Cancel Tour

reckless

Bad news for fans of actress Taylor Momsen’s band, the Pretty Reckless; the band have had to cancel their upcoming tour due to the fact that Momsen has fallen ill.

The band was slated to start their SnoCore Tour this past Wednesday, January 29th in Lincoln, Nebraska, but due to having acute laryngitis and walking pneumonia, it has been cancelled. A statement from them has been released and can be read below:

Taylor Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless have unfortunately been forced to pull out of the forthcoming #SnoCore Tour, which they were set to headline this year. Due to acute laryngitis and walking pneumonia, Taylor Momsen has been placed on vocal rest for the time being. Originally set to kick off 1/29 in Lincoln, NE, The SnoCore Tour–a celebration of music and winter sports also featuring Heaven’s Basement, The Letter Black, Crobot and Empire Street this year–has been cancelled (see all cancelled tour dates below).

The band regrets this inconvenience to all the fans who bought tickets, which will be refunded at the point of purchase, and look forward to seeing everyone later in the year.”

Momsen sent out a tweet last week which said, “I want to give you all my best every night…but I’m just too sick right now to do that, I promise we will be back SOON! Love to you all xxt.”
