The Offspring “Warm Up” at Rock Am Ring

offspring

The Offspring recently announced their plans to head out on tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their hit album, Smash. In honor of the milestone, the band also announced that they will be performing the record in full during the tour as well as their sets at Riot Fest.

Before embarking on their Summer trek, the band warmed up by performing Smash in its entirety at Rock Am Ring in Germany. Thanks to someone, maybe the festival organizers, the footage from the show was record and is now available to watch. Of course hit songs, “The Kids Are Alright” and “Self-Esteem” made the cut since they are part of that album.

Pennywise and Bad Religion will be joining the Offspring on their “The Summer Nationals” Tour which will begin on July 29 in Pittsburgh.

Riot Fest Announce Bigger Tenth Anniversary News

image

With the insane line-up that has already been revealed for all three Riot Fests, now comes word that things will get even more awesome in September;  ten of the band will perform their classic albums, in full.

Earlier this week when The Offspring had been rumored to be performing at the weekend-long festivals, which had later been confirmed as true, the band revealed they would be playing their hit album, Smash in full.

The other bands that will be doing the same can been seen below:

Weezer—The Blue Album

Jane’s Addiction—Nothing’s Shocking

The Descendents—Milo Goes to College

The Get Up Kids—Something to Write Home About

Slayer—Reign in Blood

The Offspring—Smash (we already knew)

NOFX—Punk in Drublic

Samhain—Initium

Naked Raygun—Throb Throb

If you counted over the list, you would notice that one band is missing, and no, it wasn’t a typo. Festival organizers are currently keeping that last one underwraps.

In a press release they stated, “[we] have promised to unveil it in a separate announcement in the upcoming weeks, as well as additional 10th anniversary surprise.”

We are beginning to get the feeling it might be The Cure performing Disintegration or another one of their hit albums in full.

Riot Fest Toronto will take place on September 6-7, Chicago will take place September 12-14 and Denver will take place September 19-21, so get your tickets now before they sell out.

The Offspring to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of ‘Smash’ in a Big Way

offspring

The Offspring may or may not be considered one of the godfathers of the punk-rock world, with their random appearances at festivals and concerts or just by putting out catchy tunes (cause they’re pretty fly for white guys). We can attest to that, the first and only time we saw the Offspring was at Warped Tour in 2005 and remember something about a word beginning with the letter “F” and ending in a “K.”

“It’s ‘FIRETRUCK,’ guys!”

But even though they have been in the game for such a long time, it might be surprising to find out that their hit album, Smash will be turning 20 this year. To this day, Smash has sold over 12 million copies and is still considered one of the best-selling independent records of all time.

In honor of the anniversary, the band have already announced plans to release a vinyl/CD reissue of it in August, but that’s not all. Today, an announcement was made, letting fans know that they still have it and will be hitting the road to celebrate the 20 year anniversary.

The tour will feature them performing Smash in its entirety, but once again, that is not where the surprises en. The Offspring will be joined on tour by Bad Religion and/or Pennywise as well as The Vandals, Stiff Little Fingers and Naked Raygun opening on certain dates.

A lot to take in in such a short time span.

And if that wasn’t enough news, a leaked press release shows that the band will be performing at a Chicago venue that is still TBA on September 12 meaning they will be performing at this year’s Chicago Riot Fest.

Yep. Offspring new overload.

Music for Relief’s “Concert for the Philippines” Announce Acts

linkinpark

Who would have imagined that months after Super Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines that bands and musicians from all over would be gathering together to try to help those unfortunate victims get back on their feet?

Well, it shows just how much those artists wanted to help and give back to those that lost everything due to a natural disaster; something they had no control over. Last month, it was revealed that a long compilation had been released with all proceeds going to the Philippines’ Red Cross.

Today, it was revealed that Linkin’ Park would be headlining “Concert for the Philippines” to help out. The band announced that The Offspring would also be joining the fundraiser which will be held in Los Angeles early next year.

Music For Relief, Linkin’ Park’s not-for-profit organization, is known for doing such things. Last time they sprang into action was when that huge earthquake/tsunami hit Japan a couple of years ago. The band put on a show in L.A. for fans who donated to relief efforts and that seems to be the same format for this fundraiser.

The first 300 fans who donate at least $250 to Music for Relief’s Typhoon Relief will get GA tickets to the “Concert for the Philippines” which will take place on Jan. 11th at Club Nokia. The top 75 fundraising fans will get special VIP perks such as meet and greets, reserved seating, a pre-party, parking and commemorative merchandise.

So far, the only bands to be hitting the stage for the fundraiser are Linkin’ Park and The Offspring, but apparently more artists will be joining them at the show.

If you want anymore information about the show or want to donate or help out just head on over here.
