The latest ‘Lion King’ trailer introduces us to Scar, Timon and Pumbaa

The upcoming live-action remake of “The Lion King” is 100 days away from hitting theaters and Disney is celebrating it by giving fans another look at the flick. On Wednesday (April 10), the House of Mouse unleashed the second official trailer for the Jon Favreau-directed film.

The almost-two-minute clip begins with lion cubs Simba and Nala wandering into the elephant graveyard after Mufasa gave Simba specific orders not to go into that area. As the footage plays, the viewer hears Simba’s uncle Scar begin his speech about “life not being fair.” As the voiceover plays, we finally get to see Scar (who was missing from the first trailer) in all his dark glory as well as his somewhat loyal but overall idiotic hyena henchmen.

As if seeing Scar and the hyenas weren’t enough, we finally get to see Timon, Pumbaa, and that heart-wrenching stampede scene that resulted in Mufasa’s death and gallons of tears (yeah, we still get choked up about it).

But it’s not all sad and depressing scenes. The clip also includes Simba’s growing up sequence while in the care of Timon and Pumbaa and Nala and Simba meeting for the first time as adult lions.

There’s also a special little treat at the end of the trailer with Timon and Pumbaa giving us a snippet of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

Classic.

Beyoncé, Elton John, and Hans Zimmer will reportedly contribute to the film’s soundtrack.

“The Lion King” will roar its way to theaters on July 19.

“Everything the light touches is our kingdom.”

If that opening line did not send chills down, your spine, then the first look at Disney’s upcoming live action remake of “The Lion King” may do the trick. On Thursday (Nov. 22), the House of Mouse unleashed the first trailer for their upcoming Jon Favreau-directed film.

Making its debut during the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins football game, the minute-and-a-half teaser introduces the viewer to several important characters from the film including Simba, Rafiki, and of course Mufasa.

The newly released clip is a shot-by-shot recreation of the animated film’s 1994 trailer and even includes the movie’s iconic Elton John and Tim Rice-penned song, “The Circle of Life.”

If watching all the animals from the Pride Lands gather to witness lion cub Simba’s debut wasn’t enough to get you to say “aw,” wait until Mufasa’s spirit returns to adult lion Simba, urging him to “remember.”

Missing from the clip is the film’s protagonist and worst uncle ever, Scar, but we’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot of him as more trailers make their way online.

Cast of ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Aladdin’ Give Impromptu Airport Show

We’re sure everyone has been there before; the plane you were supposed to be on to go somewhere is delayed for hours. So, you’re stuck in a fluorescently lit airport with nothing to do for hours until you’re finally able to board the plane.

What a nightmare.

Well, for those stranded at New York’s LaGuardia Airport after a storm delayed flights for six hours this past Sunday, they were given a special show thanks to another group of people also stranded; the casts of Broadway’s The Lion King and Aladdin.

To lift the saggy morale, both groups performed a capella versions of their opening songs; “The Circle of Life” for the cast of The Lion King and “Arabian Nights” for the cast of Aladdin.

One of the coolest parts was watching Tony award winner James Monroe Iglehart (who plays Genie in the Aladdin production) just freestyle right in the middle of the airport.

This isn’t the first time the cast of The Lion King has done a stunt like that. Last August, they surprised New York subway riders by staging a flash mob where they performed “The Circle of Life.”

This past March, the Dropkick Murphys pulled similar stunt when they gave unfortunate passengers an impromptu show while waiting for their own flight to Dublin.
