Hold onto your mohawks guys, because Riot Fest’s 15th-anniversary show is going to be one for the books. On Wednesday (May 29), festival organizers unveiled the massive lineup for this year’s weekend-long event. Blink-182, the newly reunited Bikini Kill, The Raconteurs, Rise Against, The Flaming Lips, Jawbreaker, and Bloc Party are just some of the bands headlining the show.

Also getting a spot on the large print portion of the festival poster is Slayer. Their appearance at Riot Fest will be the iconic metal band’s final performance in Chicago (and Milwaukee).

Joining the already stacked lineup are Taking Back Sunday, Rancid, Descendents, Manchester Orchestra, Dashboard Confessionals, the B-52s, the Starting Line, Streetlight Manifesto, The Get Up Kids, Senses Fail, Less than Jake, Anti-Flag, Cursive, Save Ferris, Frank Iero and the Future Violents, I Don’t Know How But They Found Me, and a slew more.

As per Riot Fest tradition, many of the bands on the roster will perform some of their albums in full. Those acts include the Flaming Lips (Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots), WEEN (The Mollusk), Bloc Party (Silent Alarm), Taking Back Sunday (Tell All Your Friends and Louder Now), Dashboard Confessional (The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most), Against Me! (Reinventing Axl Rose and Transgender Dysphoria Blues), Glassjaw (Worship & Tribute), Senses Fail (Let it Enfold You and From the Depths of Dreams), and AVAIL will reunite to perform Over the James.

Tickets for Riot Fest 2019 are currently available for purchase on the festival’s website. Considering the colossal lineup, it may be wise to get your tickets as soon as possible instead of risking the event selling out.

Riot Fest returns to its home of Douglas Park in Chicago during the weekend of Sept. 13- 15. For more information about the lineup, tickets, or general inquiries, head on over to Riot Fest’s website.

Foo Fighters, Robert Plant, Zac Brown Band to headline Bourbon and Beyond 2019

The Foo Fighters, Robert Plant, and the Zac Brown Band are just some of the acts that will make their way to Kentucky in the fall for this year’s Bourbon & Beyond music festival. On Tuesday (March 12), festival officials unveiled the lineup for the 2019 incarnation of the annual event.

Joining the aforementioned acts on the bill are: John Fogerty, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Nathaniel Rateliffe & the Night Sweats, Trey Anastasio Band, Leon Bridges, the Flaming Lips, Alison Krauss, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, +LIVE+, Grace Potter, Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Sensational Space Shifters (who were initially scheduled for 2018), and ZZ Top who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2019.

In total, more than 45 musicians will take one of three stages during the three-day event.

As if the music portion of the festival wasn’t enough to get people stoked for the upcoming event, the three-day show’s centerpiece —Kroger’s Big Bourbon Bar presented by Louisville Courier-Journal— will feature more than two dozen hand-selected bourbons from top distilleries as well as a unique opportunity to enjoy bourbons and exclusive one-time specialty cocktails.

Angel’s Envy, 1972, Barrell Bourbon, Bloody Butcher’s Creed, Buffalo Trace, Coopers’ Craft, Elijah Craig, Four Roses, Kentucky Peerless, Michter’s, Old Forester, StoneHammer, and Wild Turkey are just some of the big names heading to Kentucky in September.

As part of their partnership with Kroger’s and their Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative, 25 cents from each ticket sold will be donated directly to Dare to Care Food Bank.

Because a person cannot live on alcohol alone, the festival will also include “a taste of Louisville” with selections from local and regional restaurants such as Boss Hog BBQ, Couvillion, Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar, Ehrler’s Ice Cream, Eli’s BBQ, Heine Brothers Coffee, Hull And Highwater, Joella’s Hot Chicken, Merle’s Whiskey Kitchen, Sarino, Seviche, and more.

Dubbed as the “world’s largest bourbon festival,” this year will also mark the first year that the event has expanded from two to three days.

Bourbon & Beyond will invade the new Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center during the weekend of Sept. 20 – 22. Several ticket packages are available for purchase on the festival’s website. They are currently offering several ticket options including three-day passes, single-day passes, and VIP experiences.

Star-Studded George Harrison Tribute Concert To Take Place Later This Month

wpid-2014georgeharrison_getty166237185120314.article_x2.jpeg

Some beetles might have though that George Harrison was worthy of having a tree dedicated to him, but many musicians have thought otherwise.

It was announced that Harrison will be honored later this month in the form of a one-night tribute concert.

Reportedly, performances of the evening will include The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Brian Wilson, “Weird” Al Yankovic, The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer, members of The Strokes, Weezer and Norah Jones. For those who are not familiar Harrison and Jones’ father, sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar became friends when Harrison began to experiment with that type of sound and became interested in the sitar.

Also set to appear at the event are the Cold War Kids, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Harrison’s son (and almost twin) Dhani, Heart’s Ann Wilson, as well as members of The Cult, Guster, Velvet Revolver and many more. The event promoters have also revealed that more special guests will be announced within the weeks leading up to the show.

The one-night affair will take place on Sept. 28 at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre.
Tickets for the show will go on sale beginning today, Sept. 5. According to the release, 100% of the profits from “George Fest” like it has been dubbed, will be donated to Sweet Relief, a charity that offers financial assistance to struggling musicians.

News of the tribute concert comes on the heels of Harrison’s estate announcing plans to reissue the musician’s first six solo albums. The reissues will include several unreleased tracks as well as alternate versions of the songs that had been previously released.

The George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-1975 box set is set to be released on Sept. 23, just a week or so before the star-studded concert is set to take place.

Bonnaroo Reveal 2014 Schedule

image

It’s that time again; more schedule unveilings from upcoming Summer festivals.

Today, the people behind Bonnaroo have unveiled the full schedule for the festival that is slated to take place this June in Manchester, TN. Kanye West, Elton John, Skrillex, Jack White, and Frank Ocean have been revealed as headliners for this year’s edition of the yearly festival as well as Vampire Weekend, Mastodon, Phoenix and many more.

For those of you who are wondering whatever happened to that feud between West and the people behind the festival, it turns out that his popularity might have led to their decision to put the “squid brain” comment to rest.

Organizers also revealed that Flaming Lips frontman, Wayne Coyne got to choose two unknown bands to not only perform at the large music event, but they will also get paid to do so. Can you say fairy godfather?

Sadly, like with many music festivals, there are some overlapping acts which means you will need to plan your schedule according to get the best out of all the acts taking the stage. Or, you can be like those people who stay glued to one stage the entire day waiting for just one artist; we don’t judge here.

Check out the full schedule here and don’t forget, Bonnaroo takes place at the Great Stage Park in Manchester during the weekend of June 12 to June 15.
