Boys Like Girls announce self-titled tenth anniversary tour

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Boys Like Girls. Their last album, Crazy World, was met with lukewarm reception from fans who were used to the group’s original pop-punk sound and were thrown for a loop when it was something along the lines of pop-country. Since its release in 2012, each of the band members have been concentrating on their own projects. On Sunday (May 8), frontman Martin Johnson, guitarist Paul DiGiovanni, and drummer John Keefe all began to post images on their social media pages with old-school pictures of the group, with an overlay of their debut record’s cover art, and the number ten.

On Monday (May 9), the speculation of a ten-year anniversary tour was confirmed. Confirming the announcement, the band posted a minute-and-a-half clip with lots of videos which rank from playing in what looks like an auditorium to their music video for “Thunder.” In honor of their debut, self-titled record, the group has announced plans to hit the road this August for a handful of tenth anniversary tour dates. The tour will officially kick off at the House of Blues in the band’s hometown of Boston on Aug. 5. After a couple of more East Coast stops, the band will wrap up the mini tour on Aug. 12 at Via Theatre in Chicago.

Pre-sale and VIP tickets for the shows will go on sale beginning Tuesday, May 10, at noon EST. For those who miss the pre-sales, general admission tickets will go on sale beginning this Friday, May 13 at noon, local time. Islander and Sworn In have been announced as Atreyu’s support throughout the trek with the only exception being the Seattle date (May 7) which will find Nekrogoblikon filling in for Sworn In.

Death-Grip is my favorite ‘older’ Atreyu album. It represents an exciting time and place for myself and my brothers,” explains frontman Alex Varkatzas. “It’s our most ‘to the point’ record. I also feel it’s one of our most natural records as well. Lyrically, I got to run free and it felt great. We are pleased to play it in its entirety and give each song its due!”

“For me, Death-Grip was a landmark record in our career,” begins drummer Brandon Saller. “I feel that it was the first album we made where we took fearless leaps into the unknown. This record is still one of my favorite pieces of work we’ve ever done and I feel like our fans hold it in the same regard. I’m really excited to celebrate 10 great years of this album’s life. We will be playing Death-Grip front to back, as well as a good bunch of other favorites.”

As anticipated, the band or more specifically frontman Anthony Green, has revealed that they will be heading out on tour this Fall in honor of the tenth anniversary of their much-loved, debut record.

Green wrote on Facebook:

“This fall we’ll be touring North America celebrating the 10 year anniversary of ‘Juturna’ by performing the record in its entirety. It’s hard to believe this album is ten years old because it still means so much to me. It’s the first chapter in the story of Circa Survive and I owe so much to it. Playing these songs is like reading a message I wrote to myself from the past and I can’t wait celebrate them with new and old fans. – Anthony”

In addition to the tour celebrating the tenth anniversary of the album that gave us “Act Appalled,” Circa has also revealed that they  will be releasing a special limited edition 3xLP deluxe vinyl reissue of Juturna. The deluxe vinyl reissue will contain 34 tracks, three different looking records, and will be housed in a triple gate fold jacket with expanded art. For more information, check out the band’s website.

Minus the Bear to Celebrate Ten Years of ‘Menos el Oso’

The tenth anniversary tour announcements continue.

On the heels of Armor for Sleep announcing their own tenth anniversary tour earlier in the day, Minus the Bear have followed suit and done the same.

The Seattle-based band announced they will be heading out on tour later this year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their second album, Menos el Oso.

The band revealed their plan on Facebook as well as who will be going them as they make their way across the United States. Murder By Death, O’Brother, and Aero Flynn will open for Minus the Bear during the tour stops.

“2015 marks the 10 year Anniversary of Menos el Oso. We’re excited to be heading out on the road this November to celebrate the album front to back with our friends Murder By Death, o’brother and Aero Flynn!” the band wrote on Facebook.

Menos el Oso will officially turn ten on Aug. 23, so what else is a band to do with such a huge moment? The ‘Menos el Oso Tenth Anniversary Tour’ will kick off on Nov. 11 in Wilmington, NC at Ziggy’s and wrap up on Nov. 23 at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR.

Tickets for the shows will go on sale beginning this Friday, July 24 at 10 a.m. local time.

The complete list of tour dates can be seen below.

Armor For Sleep Officially Announce ‘What To Do When You Are Dead’ Tenth Anniversary Tour

After several days of teasing and trolling fans, Armor For Sleep have now revealed the big news they have been keeping in secret this entire time; they’ll be heading out on tour.

Like many fans had predicted and began to speculate, the group will be heading out on the “What To Do When You Are Dead Tenth Anniversary Tour.” The tour will begin in September and not wrap up, supposedly, until December. Funny enough, the album actually turned ten earlier this year in February.

AFS frontman Ben Jorgensen issued a statement of his own on behalf of the band officially announcing the tour and that tickets will go on sale beginning this Friday, July 24.

Read the full message after the poster for the tour.

“We are excited to announce that we will be playing a select number of shows to celebrate the ten year anniversary of “what to do when you are dead”. The fact that so many of you have been listening over the years has meant (and still means) a lot to us, and this is our way of saying thank you for all the kind words and cool stories that you’ve shared with us over the years. This is gonna be fun. Below is a list of all the shows with ticket links. The ticket links go live this Friday the 24th… Hope to see you all at the shows…keep it real. Check for all future updates

As Jorgensen wrote, there are only a selected number of tour stops for the tenth anniversary trek. Sadly, those of us who do not live on the Northeastern coast or on the west coast will not get the opportunity to see the New Jersey band perform tracks like “Remember to Feel Real” and “Stay on the Ground” live.

There is one shining glitter of hope though, Jorgensen did write to keep an eye on their Facebook page for all “future updates,” so maybe there’s more information that they aren’t telling their fans. Or maybe we’re hoping a little too much.

No matter, they had us all believing this tour would not happen and here it is, no matter how short it is.
