Cartel to Celebrate ‘Chroma’ Tenth Anniversary with Tour

Cartel’s breakout and debut album, Chroma will be turning ten this year, and the band have now confirmed they will be heading out on a “Chroma Tenth Anniversary” tour this Spring.

Last year, the band confirmed they would be performing the 2005 record in full during South By So What? in Grand Prairie, TX,  making some wonder if this might be the beginning of a tour where they would celebrate the anniversary of the album.

During the weekend, the band helped add gasoline to the speculation fire when they tweeted some “Chroma stuff” would announced this week, specifically on Monday at 3 PM (EST).

The tour will officially begin on April 9 in Minneapolis at Mill City Nights and wrap up on May 16 in Lawrence, KS at the Granada. Heading out on the road with them will be TEAM, Driver Friendly, and Hit the Lights for half of the tour dates.

Check out the full list of tour dates below and take a flashback in time with the music video for the lead single from the album, “Honestly.”

Fans of Motion City Soundtrack should have known something was brewing when the band’s official Twitter account tweeted out a message that simply read, “Fact. Commit This to Memory will be 10 years old this coming new year (2015).”

If an upcoming tenth anniversary tour was the first thing to come to mind, then you would have been right because the band have now announced plans to hit the road in early 2015 in support of their sophomore album.

The Commit This to Memory tenth anniversary tour will begin on January 17, 2015 at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. After visiting majority of the United States, the tour will then wrap up on February 26 at the House of Blues in Chicago.

If the tour news wasn’t enough, the band have also revealed they will be playing Commit This to Memory in full (time to brush up on “Make Out Kids”)

But that’s not all.

In support of the tour, Motion City Soundtrack have enlisted a list of artists as their opening acts including Hit the Lights, Hawthorne Heights, The Early Novembers, Copeland, Team, Hellogoodbye, William Beckett and Vinnie Caruana.

Lorde Releases Video for “Team”

lorde-cred-james-k-lowe-650-430

Lorde has been making news recently for speaking out against other musicians overs the last couple of months. First it was about Taylor Swift who later she was seen hanging with one afternoon. Then it was a dig at Selena Gomez about the message in her hit song “Come and Get It,” where the 17-year-old explained that the song was anti-feminist. Just last week, she spoke out against Nicki Minaj and Drake only to backtrack to let the public know that her words were taken out of context.

Amid all the taken out of context quotes, the singer has been working on the music video for the follow-up to her hit radio song, “Royal.” The video is for the song, “Team” which is also featured on her hit debut, Pure Heroine.
“This video was borne from a dream i had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen.” she explained about the idea behind the video.

“I dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger.”
