Missy Elliot, Vampire Weekend, and Stevie Nicks to headlines Governors Bal 2020

governors_ball_2020_header

When we tell you that music festival organizers are taking the request for more genre (and general) diversity to heart, we weren’t kidding.

On Thursday (Jan. 16), the people behind New York’s Governors Ball announced the lineup for the 2020 incarnation of the annual event. Headlining this year’s festivities are Missy Elliot, Stevie Nicks, Vampire Weekend, Miley Cyrus, Tame Impala, Flume, and a slew more.

According to Billboard, Governors Ball 2020 will be Missy Elliot’s first major headlining gig in New York in over a decade (we should also point out she released her critically acclaimed EP ICONOLOGY last year).

Joining the previously mentioned acts on this year’s bill are Solange, Ellie Goulding, H.E.R., Portugal. The Man, Rüfüs Du Sol, Summer Walker, Foals, Carly Rae Jepsen, Maren Morris, Bleachers, Danny Brown, Of Monsters and Men, Alessia Cara, A R I Z O N A, Oliver Tree, Banks, PUP, Alec Benjamin, and many more.

At the end of the three-day event, a total of over 70 acts would have performed on one of the four stages. Insane, right?

In addition to all the music-centric goodness, Governors Ball has also revealed that this year’s event will include food that “highlights the city’s best eats,” visual artists from New York City (and around the world), tons of alcohol (because what’s a music festival without alcohol?), art installations including murals, statues, and flying inflatables, and yet-to-be-announced pop-up performances.

Not a bad way to celebrate your tenth anniversary.

Governors Ball 2020 returns to its home of Randall’s Island Park in New York City during the weekend of June 5-7.

Three-day general admission and VIP tickets go on sale this Friday, Jan. 17, at noon ET.

Lizzo, Tool, and Tame Impala to headline Bonnaroo 2020

Bonnaroo_2020_header.jpg

You asked for an eclectic lineup, and Bonnaroo listened!

On Tuesday (Jan. 7), the masterminds behind one of the biggest music festivals in the United States announced the complete lineup for the 2020 incarnation of the weekend-long event.

Lizzo, Tool, and Tame Impala are just some of the acts that will take over Bonnaroo 2020 during the second weekend of June.

Fresh off a momentous 2019, Lizzo will be the first-ever female artist to top the bill at Bonnaroo. Not too shabby for the “Truth Hurts” crooner.

Unlike Lizzo, Tool’s appearance at Bonnaroo later this year will mark their return after a 13-year break. The iconic band, who released their long-awaited fifth studio album Fear Inoculum last August, last performed at Bonnaroo in 2007.

As for Tame Impala, the group has been steadily working their way up the echelon of Bonnaroo, starting at the secondary stage in 2016 and now set to perform on the main stage. How about that for a Cinderella story?

But, it’s not all about Lizzo, Tool, and Tame Impala. This year’s lineup includes Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, The 1975, the Struts, Dashboard Confessional, The Band Camino, Vampire Weekend, Bassnectar, Flume, Run The Jewels, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Tenacious D, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Leon Bridges, Young Thug, Grace Potter, and more.

We did tell you the genres were all over the place.

Bonnaroo 2020 returns to its home of Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee, during the weekend of June 11-14.

Tickets go on sale this Thursday, Jan. 9, at noon EST on the festival’s official website.

The full lineup for Bonnaroo 2020 can be seen below.

The Cure, Guns N’ Roses, and Cardi B are just some of the acts making their way to Austin in the fall for the 18th annual Austin City Limits. On Tuesday (April 30), festival organizers unveiled the massive and diverse lineup for the 2019 edition of the event.

Joining the already stacked lineup are Mumford and Sons, Tame Impala, Childish Gambino, Robyn, Thom Yorke performing Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes, Kacey Musgraves, Jenny Lewis, Lizzo, Lil Uzi Vert, Billie Eilish, 21 Savage, Rosalía, the Raconteurs, LANY, and many more.

As noted by the official poster for the event, Cardi B will only perform during the first weekend of the gig while Robyn will take over her slot during the second weekend. It’s also noted that the Kooks will only play during the first weekend of the show while Third Eye Blind will take over during weekend two.

This year marks the debut for many headliners including Guns N’ Roses (it’s also their first show in Austin in 25 years), Cardi B, Eilish, and Robyn. This also marks Childish Gambino’s makeup appearance at the weekend-long festival after having to cancel last year due to a foot injury he sustained during the Dallas stop of his “This is America” tour.

The 18th annual Austin City Limits will take over Zilker Park during the weekends of Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13.

Tickets for the three-day event are currently available for purchase on their website. There are four different ticket options to pick from for weekend passes as well as single-day passes. ACL is offering fans several packages including general admission, general admission plus, VIP, and platinum. For more information about the lineup, tickets, or general inquiries, head on over to Austin City Limits’ website.

If Austin City Limits Music Festival was trying to keep their 2015 line-up a secret, then maybe they need to have a little conversation with their website person about letting the secret out of the bag two days before the official announcement was set to happen.

Last night (May 3), the line-up for both weekends of the music festival was leaked online, with the website’s link circulating the interweb. Quickly after the “mistake,” the post was taken down and now an “Oops, we’re not finding the page you’re looking for” message is appearing, but not before people took to the internet to spread the word and of course screen cap the information.

Sucks for them and their surprise, great for the people who were on the fence about going.

Weekend one will feature performances from: the Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Drake, The Weeknd, Disclosure, Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, The Decemberists, Chance the Rapper, ASAP Rocky, Billy Idol, Run the Jewels, TV on the Radio, Brandon Flowers, Brand New, Father John Misty, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Gary Clark Jr., Royal Blood, Jose Gonzalez, and Daughter, along with deadmau5, Bassnectar, Hozier, and Of Monsters and Men.

Weekend two will have an almost exact line up except with a few changes. Instead of The Strokes, Modest Mouse will take their place and Florence and the Machine were added to the already packed line-up.

Check out the full (leaked) line-up below.
