Waterparks to release debut album in November

Waterparks

Over the last year, the members of Waterparks have made a name for themselves with a little bit of help of Good Charlotte’s Benji and Joel Madden. This past summer, the group proved themselves again on the 2016 Vans Warped Tour, earning them some new fans with only a couple of EPs and no official debut album. On Wednesday (Aug. 31), things changed when the band unveiled plans to release their debut album this fall.

Their debut album will be titled Double Dare and is set to be released on Nov. 4 through Equal Vision Records. The album was recorded with the help of Benji Madden and producer Courtney Ballard. While speaking about the new record, frontman Awsten Knight explained that it will sound a lot different from their previously released EPs.

“It’s just more. Everything about it is expanded and bigger,” begins Knight. “We wanted to push the boundaries to show people that you can be more than one thing. This isn’t just a ‘pop-punk’ band and I think when people hear the rest of the album, it’ll be pretty apparent. There are songs that have elements of jazz, hip-hip, pop, indie, electronic, punk, etc.”

He adds: “As far as the lyrics go, they’re more personal than they’ve been on any other Waterparks release. This album has been in the works since last August or September, and in that time I’ve felt and dealt with a lot of different things. I was probably more open than I should be with some stuff but it’s fine. Honest songs are always best. It’s also got me at my happiest, so that’s a thing too.”

In addition to the debut record news, the band also released the first single from the album; a track titled “Stupid For You.” Check out the new song below.
