All Time Low closes out ‘Future Hearts’ era with ‘Take Cover’

To say All Time Low has had a busy couple of years, might be an understatement. Since the release of their sixth studio album, 2015’s Future Hearts, the band has been touring relentlessly behind the album. Things haven’t changed with the four-piece currently opening for Blink-182 on their massive “California” summer tour. With a week left until the release of their second DVD, Straight to DVD II: Present, Past, and Future Hearts, the band has released a track that will officially close out the Future Hearts era.

On Friday (Sept. 2), the Baltimore-founded band released “Take Cover.” The track, according to both frontman Alex Gaskarth and guitarist Jack Barakat, marks the end of this era of the band. “So proud of what we accomplished on Future Hearts. Pumped for you guys to see the DVD! ‘Take Cover’ is the perfect ‘last song’ for the album,” Gaskarth posted on Twitter. “The song to close out the era of Future Hearts! I hope you like it. :),” echoes Barakat.

The music video for the new song is shot completely in black-and-white and alternates between a full screen and split screen footage. During the three-and-a-half minute clip, we are taken on a short ride on what it’s like to be All Time Low on tour. We see the band as they arrive at an airport and travel on a highway as they head to what we assume is a venue (we’re also going to assume it’s London’s Wembley Arena since that’s where STDII was shot).

Throughout the music video, we switch between footage of the band performing intimate shows, their dedicated fans, some behind-the-scenes antics (did you see Barakat in the mini fridge?), and then we see them on the massive stage, performing for their sold out crowd. Watch the music video for “Take Cover” below.

“Take Cover” is one of two never-before-heard song that will be featured on Straight to DVD II: Present, Past, and Future Hearts. Straight to DVD II was originally set to be released on Aug. 26, but was pushed back a couple of week. The CD/DVD combo will now be released on Sept. 9 through Hopeless Records. Pre-orders are currently available with the CD/DVD package available on the band’s website, while digital pre-orders are available on iTunes.

All Time Low announces ‘Straight to DVD II’

A few weeks back, the guys from All Time Low began to tease images on social media and advising fans to keep an eye out because something big was coming. At the time, the band’s multitude of fans began to speculate that they may release new music, but no definite answer was given by the band members. On Thursday (July 7), the Baltimore-founded band announced the release of their second live DVD. The DVD set which will feature a DVD and a CD will be titled Straight to DVD II: Present, Past, and Future Hearts; direct references to their previous DVD release (Straight to DVD) and their recently-released record (Future Hearts).

“Surprise! You can now pre-order the long-awaited sequel to STD,” the band wrote on Twitter with a link to their website where pre-orders are currently ongoing.

Like the 2010 release, which found the band performing at New York’s massive venue, Hammerstein Ballroom, Straight to DVD II  was filmed when the band performed London’s Wembley Arena. In addition to the performance, the DVD will also feature a slew of behind-the-scenes footage, two previously unreleased B-side tracks, and even some guest appearances like Josh Franceschi from English band You Me at Six. Check out the teaser for the upcoming release below as well as the track list for the CD/DVD combo.
