All Time Low, Silverstein, New Found Glory lead first wave of Slam Dunk 2019 bands

The new year hasn’t even started, but one music festival is already getting ahead of the curve by announcing their first wave of artists. On Wednesday (Oct, 17), the United Kingdom’s Slam Dunk Festival formally unveiled the first set of musicians who will head across the pond during the final weekend of May 2019.

All Time Low, NOFX, New Found Glory, and Silverstein are just some of the eight bands confirmed for the music festival.

“There’s been a bit of an ATL drought in the U.K. recently, so we thought it best to come back,” frontman Alex Gaskarth said about the band’s return to the Slam Dunk stage. Previously performing at the 2013 incarnation of the two-day event, All Time Low aren’t the only Slam Dunk Festival veterans returning next year.

Florida-based pop-punk rockers New Found Glory last hit the festival’s stage in 2010 while Canadians Silverstein last performed at Slam Dunk in 2009.

“We are excited to be returning to the U.K. in 2019 for the next installment of Slam Dunk,” the Ontario-founded band said in a joint statement.

“We originally played the festival way back in 2009 and have been looking forward to doing it again. Expect a jam-packed set of old and new material.”

In addition to the returning bands, the lineup will also include Waterparks, Mad Caddies, local hardcore punkers Gallows, and Story of the Year.

Story of the Year’s inclusion on the lineup comes a year after the group released their first post-hiatus album, Wolves.

“We are crazy stoked for Slam Dunk, especially since we haven’t been to the UK in ages,” said Story of the Year guitarist Ryan Phillips.

“We’re itching to get over there and jam some tracks from our latest album, Wolves.”

Tickets for Slam Dunk Festival 2019 go on sale this Friday, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m. local time.

The weekend-long music festival will take place on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26. The first day of the festival will take place at its new Leeds home of Temple Newsam Park while the second day will place at Hatfield Park in Hertfordshire.

Mayday Parade, The Juliana Theory, Story of the Year added to Warped Rewind at Sea

Back in December, the inaugural Warped Rewind at Sea was announced. The music-centric cruise would take all the good aspects of the annual punk rock music festival known as the Vans Warped Tour and place it on a boat instead of a hot parking lot. During the announcement, it was also revealed that 3OH!3, Bowling for Soup, Cartel, Good Charlotte, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Simple Plan, and the Starting Line would all perform during the four-night excursion. At the time, Warped Tour founder, Kevin Lyman had promised that many more artists would be revealed at a later time.

On Thursday (Jan. 19), more Warped Tour veterans were added to the lineup. Mayday Parade, Story of the Year, Face to Face, The Juliana Theory, and Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie would also be hitting the high seas at the end of October/beginning of November.

The announcement was officially made on the music cruise’s social media accounts. “Let’s go! Story of the Year, Mayday Parade, The Juliana Theory, Face to Face, Aaron Gillespie, and the Emo Band are joining the party,” says the high-sea music festival’s Twitter accompanied by a short clip announcing the additions.

Warped Rewind at Sea will take place during the weekend of Oct. 28, 2017-Nov. 1, 2017. The excursion will include a four-night round-trip cruise from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico. In addition to the lengthy list of performers, the cruise will also feature DJs, comedians, a Q&A session with Lyman, activities and autograph sessions with the artists, “Emo Nite” parties, and more. Tickets for Warped Rewind at Sea are currently available on the event’s website here.

Taste of Chaos Tour Resurrected

Ladies and gentle-dudes who grew up in the mid-00s, Taste of Chaos is back!

For anyone who grew up during the era of “emo bands,” Taste of Chaos, the sister traveling festival to Warped Tour, was definitely something you wanted to go to. Unlike Warped Tour, TOC concentrated on heavier bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Atreyu, and many more.

In 2010, fans of the festival were given the saddening news that it would no longer exist, at least in the United States.

Fast forward five years, and now it has been resurrected from the festival funeral home.

Founder Kevin Lyman had been hinting at a resurrection over the past few weeks, but did not confirm whether the festival would return or if he was just being a troll.

Surprise, it’s back, but with some changes.

Instead of traveling across the country like it had done in the past, Taste of Chaos will stay stationed at the San Manuel Amphitheater Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, CA.

But if its return is not enough to get those dark hearts of yours beating, then the newly announced line-up will do the trick.

Newly reunited Thrice, Jimmy Eat World, The Used, Saves the Day, The All-American Rejects, Dashboard Confessional and more are all slated to hit the stage on Oct. 3.

While the line-up may not be completely heavy, like the past incarnations, it’s nice to see that some veteran TOC bands (Thrice, The Used, Story of the Year) will be featured on the line-up.

Check out the complete line-up below.
