Tool, Slipknot, blink-182 lead Aftershock 2019 lineup

Tool, Slipknot, and blink-182 are just some of the bands heading to California’s capital in October for the 2019 incarnation of the Aftershock music festival. On Tuesday (April 23), festival organizers announced the rocking lineup for the eighth annual event.

Joining Tool, Slipknot, and blink-182 on this year’s line up are Korn, Rob Zombie, Bring Me the Horizon, Marilyn Manson, Lamb of God, Halestorm, Chevelle, Dropkick Murphys, BABYMETAL, Bad Religion, Stone Temple Pilots, and many more.

“Aftershock Festival is always a unique experience for Korn compared to other festivals,” Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch says.

“One of the main reasons is we have many friends and family that live near Sacto, so it’s always like a family reunion when we play Aftershock. We’ve been gone a while and we’re coming back this year with a new album, new stage look, and a new excitement that is very contagious! We feel like we are on fire right now and our fans are gonna be fuel for the flames!”

Knowing that fans can’t get enough of the music festival, event organizers also unveiled that the festival has expanded from two days to three.

Dubbed “California’s biggest rock festival,” the event will return to its longtime home of Discovery Park in Sacramento during the weekend of Oct. 11-13.

Tickets, VIP packages, and hotel options go on sale this Friday, April 26, at noon PT. Tickets for Aftershock have sold out four years straight, so festival organizers are encouraging fans to get their tickets as soon as possible.

The official announcement comes a day after the lineup was leaked online. According to a Reddit post, the lineup was accidentally uploaded onto the festival’s website a day before it was set to go live. At the time, there was some speculation whether the lineup was real, but it turned out to be true.

For more details about the lineup, tickets, or general inquiries, head on over to Aftershock’s website.

Stone Temple Pilots and Chester Bennington Part Ways

Looks like the Stone Temple Pilots are once again down a vocalist. Over the weekend, during an interview, former vocalist Scott Weiland revealed he had heard through the grapevine that current frontman, Chester Bennington, had left the group. On Monday (Nov. 9), the band and Bennington confirmed the news of the vocalist’s departure.

Bennington, who as we all know fronts Linkin Park had been working double duty for both bands since 2013, so it kind of comes as no surprise that the never-ending-work for the two groups finally caught up to him. In a statement, Bennington writes that the experience was great, but with all the things he has going on,”one of them always seems to fall short.” Instead of carrying it out and giving STP the bare minimal attention, Bennington just decided to leave the group.

Read his statement below.

The last few years have been an amazing experience. I got to create and perform with one of the greatest rock bands of our generation, that had so much influence on me growing up. With the amount of time STP deserves, in addition to being in Linkin Park, and with the needs of my family, one of them always seems to fall short. Going in to this, the four of us… Robert, Eric, Dean and myself knew what we were up against. We decided in due fairness to friends, fans and the legacy of STP that it needs more than time was allowing me. And in all fairness to my bandmates in Linkin Park, as well as to myself and to my family, I’m going to focus solely on Linkin Park so I can contribute 100%. It’s been an amazing experience and a dream come true, and I look forward to the future of both STP and Linkin Park.

– Chester

In response, the remaining members of STP (Robert DeLeo, Dean DeLeo, and Eric Kretz) mirrored Bennington’s own sentiments. But instead of dwelling on missing an integral part of the band, the group revealed in the letter that they had been “playing with some very talented singers over the last few months,” and will continue until they find what they are looking for.

Read the band’s statement below.

What an amazing and beautiful few years we’ve all had together. It was our honor to play and see all of you recently on tour. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time together with Chester not only professionally, but even more so on a personal level. Sadly, it was evident that scheduling and time was working against us. Within this, there is a new beginning. There is an abundance of new music written, some of which is already recorded. We have had the fortune of playing with some very talented singers over the last few months and will continue to do so until each of us feels and knows when the right person arrives.

With love,
Robert, Eric & Dean

Bennington joined Stone Temple Pilots back in 2013 and was featured on the band’s most recent record, High Rise.

Scott Weiland Impostor Reportedly in Stone Temple Pilots Cover Band

wpid-scott_weiland.jpeg

As if the Scott Weiland impersonator wasn’t good enough to pass for the former Stone Temple Pilot frontman in prison, it turns out he actually played in a Stone Temple Pilots cover band.

Considering his past at portraying Weiland, it might not come as that much of a shocker that he did the same when he was busted last month for shoplifting at a pharmacy and then charged with both shoplifting and being in possession of methamphetamine.

On Facebook, Hurley had written about participating in a Stone Temple Pilots tribute show at the Roxy in Hollywood, though TMZ, who originally broke the news that the real Weiland was not arrested, noted that the band might have not quite existed yet.

Hurley was arrested back in July and last week, the “Celebrity Arrest” made headlines when the Beverly Hill Police Department revealed to TMZ that they had had Weiland in prison for four weeks.

Following the release of the TMZ story, the gossip site received a message from Weiland, himself, straight from the studio where he was working on an album with his new band, The Wildabouts; not from the inside of a jail cell.

In the video post, Weiland sets the record straight by saying that he had just read “something very interesting, a nice piece of fiction from TMZ saying that I was in jail and had been for [four] weeks.”

“I’ve actually been touring, writing and recording my new album. Yeah, this is the studio we’re in right now. So all I have to say to our fans is whether you find it funny or interesting or whether you find it sad, don’t worry, don’t fret, it’s all a lie.”

Hurley’s real identity did not come out until Weiland posted that video, in which the BHPD performed an FBI fingerprint check which revealed his true identity. Why the police did not perform the check after the initial arrest, the world will never know.

Hurley was set to appear in court today, and we are still wondering if arrest records still has him listed as Scott Klein Weiland.

Jailed Man Claimed to Be Former Stone Temple Pilots’ Frontman

image

If you ever get arrest and happen to look like celebrity, claiming to be said person might come back to bite you in the rear.

That’s exactly what happened to one guy when he claimed that he was former Stone Temple Pilots’ frontman, Scott Weiland.

Last night, TMZ reported that the Beverly Hill Police Department had had Weiland in their prison since July 26 for possession of meth. The Weiland impostor had allegedly been busted by the BHPD after shoplifting some razors from a Rite Aid and then was busted for the drugs when he was searched. The supposed frontman was then locked up, with bail set at $95,000.

The problem in the story is the fact that Weiland was never arrested. The singer had been in the studio with his new band, The Wildabouts and it took a video from the studio with Weiland present for the police department to confirm the arrested man’s correct identity.

For four weeks, the man had the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department fooled.

In his video post on Facebook, Weiland calls TMZ’s report a “nice piece of fiction” and that the gossip site “will be hearing from my attorney.”

Like they’ve never heard that before.

The issue with Weiland’s threat in the video is the simple fact that the site got the news story, and evidence, from a reliable source; the police department themselves.

When TMZ received (or saw) the video from the real Scott Weiland, the site called up the police department to break the news to them that they did not arrest who they thought they did. That led to the police department to perform a “physical check” which revealed the guy was not who he said he was.

In reality, the man who had been imprisoned for four weeks was 44-year-old Jason Michael Hurley. On top of his previous charges, Hurley will also be charged with giving false information to the officers.

As of today, Hurley is still listed as Scott Klein Weiland in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center and is due in court on Tuesday, August 26.

‘High Rise’ for New Stone Temple Pilots

stone-temple-pilots-chester-bennington-EP

There might still be a lot of bad blood between the remaining members of Stone Temple Pilots and former frontman, Scott Weiland but that doesn’t mean that the band won;t be going forward with putting out a new album anytime soon.

Today it was announced that the newly revamped Stone Temple Pilots, featuring new frontman, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, will indeed be recording a new LP. The LP which has been titled, High Rise is set to be released on October 8 will feature five new songs including the first post-Weiland single, “Out of Time.”

It might seem like relatively recent that Weiland was given his walking papers from the group, but it has actually been six months since then. While he did seem particularly upset and even admitted last week that the other members would have to buy him out of the group, Weiland hasn’t been doing too shabby, going out on his own tour while everything was falling apart.

“It was a quality-of-life decision and that really what it’s about,” bassist Robert DeLeo said in a radio interview, according to Blabbermouth. “That’s where we wanted to be. Chester is a person that’s really surrounded by good fortune and that’s something you want to be around. It’s no longer three guys in a room, trying to make a record or trying to get a tour together — it’s four guys in a room.”

We all know that the story of STP won’t be ending anytime soon, especially if the legal war keeps on, but at least they have a new album and a tour with Filter to keep them occupy. STP and Filter will be heading out on tour starting on September 4 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; full tour dates can be seen below.

Linkin Park Singer to Join Stone Temple Pilots

linkinpark

Remember when Scott Weiland was kicked out of his own band just as he was about to head out on his solo tour? Well, it looks like more gasoline has been added to the fire.

Today, it was revealed that Linkin Park frontman, Chester Bennington, will be taking over Weiland’s frontman duties for Stone Temple Pilots and it looks like it has been a work in progress for sometime.

When news was first released that the Linkin Park frontman would be taking over the role, fans were a little confused about what it meant for the “Numb” group. Bennington went onto Twitter letting fans know that he has no plans on leaving his band and that it will always remain a number one priority for him.

So far, there has been no other word on what will be happening with the newly revamped STP, but we can only imagine that a new album and maybe even a tour could be on its way.

Until then, check out the first new song, “Our Time” from the Stone Temple Pilots featuring Chester Bennington below.

Scott Weiland Strikes Back at STP

Scott Weiland

Scott Weiland might have found out about his apparent firing from grunge band, Stone Temple Pilots from the media, but that is exactly how he’s voicing his opinion about what had happened.

For those that might not be familiar with what happened, the remaining members of Stone Temple Pilots released a sweet and simple statement earlier this week, saying that Weiland had been “terminated.” The funny part of it all, was that the frontman didn’t even hear about it from the band or his people; he read it online.

When he initially read about it int he press, his response was that he didn’t even know and that they couldn’t fire him because he’s one of the core members and wrote most of their well-known songs.

Now, several days later, Weiland is striking back saying that the only reason that they released such a statement was as  a publicity stunt just so they could sell more tickets. When asked if he was still fronting the band, he replied with a simple, “I started it.”

Rumors of the band letting go of the singer stated back in December when Weiland’s band mate from Velvet Underground, Slash, said in an interview that Weiland had been fired.

Weiland is set to start his solo tour tonight in Flint, Michigan where he said he would perform a combination of his material and stuff from the STP song lists.

Stone Temple Pilots Terminate Lead Singer

STP

UPDATE: Scott Weiland has released a statement about his firing:

“I learned of my supposed ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be “terminated” from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday.”

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The Stone Temple Pilots are on member short now. Word has surfaced that the band has fired their frontman, Scott Weiland. The band released a statement through their publicist, Kymm Britton, saying that the band has terminated the rocker:

“Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.”

While it seems a little harsh coming from a band that he has been a part of since the days of grunge, it shouldn’t come as a surprise considering all the trouble Weiland has gotten into. In 2002, the frontman got into an altercation with guitarist, Dean DeLeo, that made them stop all band activity, but that didn’t matter to Weiland since he had his other band, Velvet Underground to fill in the time.

Weiland has been one of the core members of the band since its beginning in 1986, but funny enough, yesterday he had told Rolling Stone magazine “STP has not broken up. I haven’t quit. I haven’t been fired.”

Burn.

But rumors started circulating about his termination back in December when Slash, Weiland’s band mate in Velvet Underground, revealed in an interview with Minneapolis’ radio station, 93X, that the frontman had been fired from the band.

In 2008, STP reformed after a five-year hiatus and toured all last year, but don’t worry for Weiland, the rocker is set to start a sold out tour next month.
