Second Leg of Bleachers/Charli XCX Tour Cancelled

Guess Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX won’t be “doing America” after all. In a surprising reveal, the duo who had previously tour the United States this past summer, have announced that the second leg of the tour would no longer be happening. In separate statements, the Bleachers frontman and the “Doin’ It” singer revealed that the tour had been cancelled.

Antonoff was the first to go onto Facebook to the break the news. He unveiled that as they were heading off to begin the second leg, he received a call from Charli XCX’s camp, which told him she couldn’t continue with the tour. He writes that she’s “a close friend” and “respects her as an artist,” so he respects her decision to leave the tour. He follow it up by revealing that he, and his team, had attempted to rework the show, but it was not working out. But with all the bad news, Antonoff did give fans a silver-lining; the cancellation meant that he and the rest of the guys of Bleachers would be able to return to the studio quicker.

Almost immediately after Antonoff took to Facebook to post his lengthy explanation about the cancellation, Charli XCX took to her own Facebook page to post her own statement about the cancelled tour. In her statement, she explains that due to the “personal reason” (she needed to be creative), she decided to bow out of the co-headlining tour. She explains to her Facebook followers that she didn’t want to be “going through the motions” during a show and needed to “feel alive and like I [she] want to be there.” Her complete Facebook post can be seen below.

While the complete tour is now cancelled, both will join up once again on Sept. 19 for Antonoff’s Shadow Of The City Festival in New Jersey.

The Dangerous Summer’s Frontman Leaves Band

AJ Perdomo, the frontman for The Dangerous Summer has officially left the band. As to why he had left the band Perdomo has yet to comment on the situation but he did reveal that he plans to hold a Q&A tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. PST to answer fans’ questions.

When Perdomo revealed he had left the band, he followed it up to reveal that things may have not been as great as some may have thought. In the post, he reveals that things started when he made the decision to go home and start a family and all he wanted was to be there from the beginning and not miss things.

In the same post, he also made comments saying that guitarist Cody Payne had all the control of the band including funding, but according to Payne himself from an interview acquired by Property of Zack, the guitarist said that there was never any tension, money was split between all members, and all of them had access to the bank account and statement.

When asked if the band were officially done, Payne said, “We’ve broken up about 10 times. Sometimes people just need to chill out. AJ is really stressed and has had 8 months to find a job with a baby coming next month, yet he’s done nothing to find one. Even I found one literally the next day because I wasn’t sure what would happen.”

AJ PERDOMO’S STATEMENT:

Dear world,

I think it’s time to shed some light on my current situation with The Dangerous Summer. It’s hard to just sit here and let so many people live in the dark about what is going on.

6 months ago I made the decision to go home and be a father. Next month my daughter will be born, and I want to be there for her from the beginning. This is something that I’ve dreamt about my entire life, starting a family and raising kids of my own. I don’t want to miss this part of life. I know that I will never get a chance to live it again.

As far as the band goes, I originally wanted to do another album in time, and do some shows in the future. I wanted to carry on the name, and let the band just be stagnant while I spend time at home. It has come to the point where I can’t do that anymore. I’ve had a hard time sticking with Cody through this for a very long time, and there’s now a complete disconnect. I don’t have control over what the band does, says, or sells anymore; I don’t know what the future will be for them either. It has just become something that I need to personally disassociate myself from so that I can move on with my life.

I’m sad to let something go that has been such a blessing, and inspiration. Every one of you that came to the shows, sang along, and got tattoos of my words on your body; it is something that I’ll always carry with me. That was it for me, the Mecca of it all. You made me believe in myself and my abilities. You carried us to a place that we never imagined we could go. We started this band in high school, and did everything we set out to do plus some.

A serious thank you to everyone that has stuck by me through the thick and thin, you truly fulfill me. I love each and every one of you like a part of my family. You are the piece that I will miss the most through all of this.

As far as the future goes, I will always write and record music. I have these songs that are developing into something new already. I haven’t decided what to do as far as a band goes yet, but I assure you that you will be the first to know when it happens. I do hope that you will join me on my next musical journey.

I am not giving up on my dreams. I’ve lived my dreams, and I will continue to push their boundaries.

CODY PAYNE’S Q&A:

AJ Perdomo has left The Dangerous Summer. The statement came today, but when was that decision made internally?

We all as a band, including AJ, decided we weren’t going to announce anything and just see how things play out. Sometimes TDS isn’t our biggest obligation, and right now is one of those times.

The band has been quiet since a summer headlining tour. If AJ made his wishes known regarding leaving the band then, why has it taken over six months to become public?

When we first talked about it, we had said that we didn’t want to announce it yet because we weren’t sure what the future had in store and we had still been talking about doing another album. It just wasn’t a thing we wanted to consider quite yet.

AJ’s statement alleged that you, Cody, have total control over band funds and somewhat hinted that all cash flow (not counting music sales) are going to your pocket. That frames you in a specific light. What’s your reaction to that?

I wish that were the case. I’m not quite sure how he could come up with that considering we are all connected to the band bank account and can see where every dime goes. I have had jobs over the last few years and also do graphic design for a lot of bands in the scene, and I also won a lawsuit for $80,000, which helped me. The band hardly made a lot of money and the money we did make… none went to me (unless it was evenly split), and no, I never had total control over the band though I did have a strong vision but when it came down to it everyone would always get a fair say. Ben and Matt would always give their two cents, but AJ just was usually too preoccupied to respond to emails and text messages. Lets just say he was never dedicated.

The Dangerous Summer re-signed to Hopeless Records for another album before Golden Record even came out. Why do that if there was tension?

There was never tension, that’s one thing the websites and blogs and fans never understood. There were never fights or arguments or anything. We were always the best of friends when we were together.

Is The Dangerous Summer done?

What would you like to say to fans as the sole original member of The Dangerous Summer?

As we all know, I’ve always been the one to take the fall when there is drama online, just because I’d rather it land on me than land on the band, especially if the issue truly did come down to one person. Though I’ve learned in hindsight that method isn’t always the best one. I know my reputation looks bad but I’ve learned to become less concerned with it. I know who I am and what I’ve done and I know that I am a good person who has always had everyone best interest in mind. I know my drive and my passions. If this is the end of TDS, than it was a very successful one but definitely more of a learning experience. Luckily, I’m only 24 with a whole lot of music left in me.

I hope AJ can get through what he’s going through, I’m sure his situation is stressful and sucks and I just hope he gets better so he can stop aiming his anger at other people. I’d hate for his child to grow up around that.

 

He Said//She Said: The Conor Oberst Rape Chronicles Begin

Mid-day yesterday, news had broken that Bright Eye frontman, Conor Obrest was being accused of raping a woman ten years ago. The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, had decided that it was time to speak out about what transpired the night that Oberst allegedly raped her.

The accusation all stems from an articles that written on XO Jane back in mid-December which resulted in many of the comments beginning to circulate on Tumblr and like with all things associated with Tumblr, it blew up. Now, the anonymous victim has started her own blog which she recounts in detail what happened.

“Look, I didn’t intend for any of this to happen. I was a somewhat regular commenter on xojane and felt safe there. Call it dumb, naive, etc but when I hit that post button, I did not think my comment would be anything more than an exchange with one or two other commenters sharing their stories. Was I stupid to think that making an accusation about Conor like this was just going to remain some blip in the comment section of a feminist website? Obviously. But I didn’t realize that Conor was still *that* popular, to be honest. I guess I felt too safe in that community. I had no intention for this to be all over the place, I really did not.”

Oberst has now spoken out about the accusation. The singer has released a statement through his publicist responding to it. The statement says that the accusation is “absolutely, unequivocally false” and that he would be consulting with a libel attorney about the claims.

“Usually we wouldn’t feel the urge to comment on spurious blog chatter but the recent allegations made about Conor Oberst by an anonymous commenter on the xoJane website are flagrant enough to demand our response. This individual’s accusations are absolutely, unequivocally false. Unfortunately, the internet allows for groundless statements like this to travel the world before the truth has any time to surface. This is a particularly serious and sickening allegation and there is no truth to it. Conor has nothing but abhorrence for the perpetrators of such crimes of sexual violence. The behavior attributed to him by this individual is in direct opposition to his principles. Conor is consulting with a libel attorney regarding this matter.”

The Go Radio Break Up Chronicles Continue

Apparently the break up of Go Radio was a lot more deep than what fans had been led to believe.

When news broke this past Sunday that Florida-based band, Go Radio, had decided to break up, fans were more than heartbroken and couldn’t understand where it had come from. Members of the band took to Facebook to release a long statement which said that it had to do with frontman, Jason Lancaster’s desire to spend more time with his family; completely understandable.

Since the letter made its way online, Lancaster has taken to the web several times to speak about the break up. Yesterday, he was a guest on The Gunz Show where he discussed the break up (audio can be heard here). Today, Lancaster has taken to his blog to tell his side of the story and it’s starting to look like the break up was less than civil.

I’ll jump to the chase and tell you that I am deeply offended but the idea going around that my love Dee had anything to do with my departure from the band. She, in fact, was the only one to ask me to stay. We had so many talks where I would tell her how I was feeling, we would pray together, and I would leave again to let her fend for herself and smile while she did it. She was nothing but absolutely supportive of my career and never ONCE asked me to leave. 

There are people out there who are spreading vicious rumors about my life with her, and calling us both names. To those people, I ask you to stop before it gets out of hand. You will not face only me, but God with the words you say and spread. Rumors are harsh and counter productive and will only lead to pain and hurt for the both of us. Even if you don’t believe, you should respect the decision I’ve made and keep your worst words to yourselves. 

Things with Go Radio were not good for me. You may call me selfish or whatnot and that is your right, but you must respect my right to see what is best for my life,  and make my own decisions as to where that leads me. I’m not stranding anyone. I’m making music and I’m loving life. If you now, or have ever, loved or appreciated me in any way I ask you to respect that.
