State Champs Stream “Around the World and Back”

State Champs have returned with another single off of their upcoming new album, Around the World and Back. The new song is the title track from their sophomore effort and features a duet with Jule Vera frontwoman Ansley Newman. Frontman Derek DiScanio explained to Substream Magazine about the idea behind the song.

“‘Around The World And Back’ is a song about commitment issues and finding a way to overcome them, live in the moment and embrace every opportunity at hand. It’s the first duet song we’ve ever done, and we’re very excited about it. Ansley’s voice is incredible and it’s very refreshing to hear the first female voice featured on a State Champs track.”

Listen to “Around the World and Back” below.

State Champs have been doing a good job of making a name for themselves over the past year. The band headed out on tour this past Spring with All Time Low for their “Future Hearts Tour” and quickly followed it up by going down under to Australia to open for 5 Seconds of Summer on their “Rock Out with Your Socks Out Tour.” After a quick break, the New York-based band headed right back on tour on their own headlining trek this summer.

Now, in support of Around the World and Back, State Champs will be hitting the road this fall alongside The Wonder Years, Motion City Soundtrack, and You Blew It! For the complete list of tour dates, click here.

Around the World and Back is set to be release don Oct.16 through Pure Noise Records.

State Champs to Hit the Road This Summer

What is a band to do after they’ve played supporting act to two big bands in one year?

Go on their own headlining tour, of course.

State Champs announced earlier in the day that once their Australian tour with 5 Seconds of Summer has wrapped, they will be returning to North America for their own headlining trek.

Heading out on the road with them will be Hit The Lights, Tiny Moving Parts, Let It Happen, and Northbound.

The trip which has been named “The (S)Hot Boys of Summer Tour” will begin on July 16 in Worcester, PA at the Palladium Upstairs and wrap up on Aug. 2 in Chicago at the Bottom Lounge.

The Summer tour dates come on the heels of the band revealing they will be releasing a new album later this year though no official date or title has been given for it yet.

State Champs to Join 5 Seconds of Summer on Tour

State Champs’ 2015 is looking really good.

Yesterday, it was announced that the New York based band will be heading to Australia in June to join 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Rock Out with Your Socks Out Tour.”

Of course, fans of the band and just fans of the pop-punk genre, took to the internet to instantly show their distaste for the partnership because that’s what people do. But hey, it’s a big opportunity, especially for a band that formed in 2010 and only (officially) have one album under their belt.

Even with all the bashing, it doesn’t seem to be bothering the five-piece who sent MTV a letter about their upcoming tour plans.

“We are fans of 5SOS. When they asked us to tour with them, we were thrilled,” State Champs wrote to the network.

“We’ve hung out with them a handful of times and they were fun to be around so when they were like, ’Hey, let’s go to Australia together.’ We were super down. We’re really looking forward to playing our first arena shows as well. It’s going to be such an interesting dynamic because we’re used to playing clubs. 5SOS have a very dedicated fan base and its going be a blast playing for them. The thing we’re looking forward to the most though is Bundaberg Ginger Beer.”

While we’re sure State Champs’ letter isn’t going to change anyone’s opinion about the tour line-up, if there’s mutual admiration and friendship between the two groups, then maybe the elitism should be put on the shelf for a little while or at least until the first show has wrapped.

Check out the Australian tour dates below.

June 18 – Vector Arena – Auckland, New Zealand
June 20 – Allphones Arena – Sydney, Australia
June 23 – Entertainment Centre – Brisbane, Australia
June 25 – Rod Laver Arena – Melbourne, Australia
June 27 – Entertainement Centre – Adelaide, Australia
June 29 – Perth Arena – Perth, Australia

State Champs are currently in the middle of All Time Low’s “Future Hearts Tour” which will wrap up on May 24 at the Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore. After a quick rest, they will be heading down under for the 5 Seconds of Summer tour.

Not to shabby, especially with a brand new album reportedly on the horizon.

Bayside Frontman to Drop Off Current Tour

With just three tour dates left before it comes to a close, Bayside have lost their frontman, Anthony Raneri. But before you think that it had to do with some problems within the band, hold your horse because it looks like the singer’s wife is going into labor.

Today, the band posted an update on their social media accounts letting fans know that Raneri would be missing the last three dates because he need to fly back home to be with his wife as they welcomed their first child into the world. They also went on to explain that instead of the band just dropping off with three days left, members from Motion City Soundtrack, State Champs and This is Hell would be feeling in the vacancy. The shows that Raneri will be missing is tonight’s show in Grand Rapids, tomorrow’s show in Columbus and their final tour stop on Saturday in Toledo.

Read the following message from Bayside below:

“Breaking Bayside news: Anthony is flying home to become a daddy, he will miss the final 3 shows of this tour. We have some friends from Motion City Soundtrack, STATE CHAMPS, This is Hell& more helping out & trying to fill Ant’s shoes. Send your love to the new parents @AnthonyRaneri & @miagraffam on Twitter”

Congrats to the new parents and don’t forget to drop them a line while you’re at it!
