If you were planning on seeing Cage the Elephant later this month when the group was slated to take over several United Kingdom and European venues, then you may be waiting a little longer. On Wednesday (June 12), the Tennessee-founded band made the disappointing news that they would no longer be able to make it across the pond for the impending performances.
The reason? An onstage accident at this past weekend’s PINKPOP festival in the Netherlands. What exactly happened is unknown, but guitarist Nick Bockrath did sustain a leg injury which will require him to sit out a slew of shows.
“We regret to inform the fans that Cage the Elephant will be cancelling the upcoming European tour dates from 12 June to 20 June,” the band said in the statement.
“Sadly, our guitarist Nick Bockrath had an accident onstage at ‘PINKPOP’ and injured his leg badly (ruptured PCL, torn ACL, fractured tibia, damaged meniscus). He tried to play through two shows, but he now requires immediate surgery and is currently getting the medical attention he needs.”
As per the press statement, ticket refunds for all the United Kingdom and European shows (except for England’s Isle of Wight Festival) are available at the original point of purchase.
While it seems like Cage the Elephants international shows may be off the table, for the time being, it does not appear like they will be forced to cancel their joint “Night Running” North America tour with Beck.
The North American outing begins on July 11 at the Sunlight Supply Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington and concludes about a month and a half later on Aug. 30 at the Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Both the cancelled tour dates and the upcoming shows are in support of Cage the Elephant’s recently released record, Social Cues.
It looks like Cage the Elephant and Beck’s collaboration on one of the former’s new songs was just the beginning of a beautiful friendship. On Monday (Feb. 11), the Kentucky-founded band and the California-based musician announced plans to embark on a massive tour throughout the summer months.
Dubbed the “Night Running” North American tour (after their upcoming collaboration), the trek will find the tour mates performing across the continent throughout the months of July and August. The 30-date jaunt includes stops in major cities such as Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Austin, Chicago, Toronto, Indianapolis, Columbia, New York, Raleigh, Charlotte, and more.

Spoon will join Cage the Elephant and Beck on the forthcoming outing as their main supporting act while Starcrawler, Wild Belle, and Sunflower Bean will appear on select dates.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. local time. According to a statement, one dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to a local food security initiative in the respective city they’re playing in.
The upcoming tour is mainly in support of Cage the Elephant’s upcoming fifth studio album, Social Cues. Earlier this month, the band announced the record’s release as well as debuted its lead single, “Ready to Let Go.” Social Cues is due out April 19 through RCA. Pre-orders for the forthcoming release are currently available on Cage the Elephant’s website.
As for Beck, the musician’s last studio album was 2017’s Colors. During Sunday’s Grammy Awards, the ten-track album won awards in the Best Alternative Music Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical categories.
While Beck hasn’t released a new album since 2017, he has worked on several one-off tracks including “Tarantula” —a song inspired by the Oscar-nominated film “ROMA”— and “Super Cool” featuring the Lonely Island and Robyn.

It feels as if September 2014 has been a month dedicated to the late and former Beatle, George Harrison.
It all began with Capitol Records revealing plans to re-release Harrison’s first six record and never-before-released material in a box set titled, George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-1975 which was released last week.
After that, plans were revealed for a one-night tribute concert to take place at the end of the month, last night in Los Angeles to honor Harrison.
Then, not to be outdone, Conan O’Brien dedicated last week to Harrison with all his guest performers including Beck, Norah Jones, and Harrison’s son Dhani, playing tracks from the late Beatle.
Last night, George Fest hit L.A.’s El Rey Theatre with a long list of performers which included previously confirmed acts such as Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Brian Wilson, “Weird” Al Yankovic, The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer, members of The Strokes, Weezer and Norah Jones.

A hundred percent of the profits from “George Fest” will be donated to Sweet Relief, a charity that offers financial assistance to struggling musicians.
Some beetles might have though that George Harrison was worthy of having a tree dedicated to him, but many musicians have thought otherwise.
It was announced that Harrison will be honored later this month in the form of a one-night tribute concert.
Reportedly, performances of the evening will include The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Brian Wilson, “Weird” Al Yankovic, The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer, members of The Strokes, Weezer and Norah Jones. For those who are not familiar Harrison and Jones’ father, sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar became friends when Harrison began to experiment with that type of sound and became interested in the sitar.
Also set to appear at the event are the Cold War Kids, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Harrison’s son (and almost twin) Dhani, Heart’s Ann Wilson, as well as members of The Cult, Guster, Velvet Revolver and many more. The event promoters have also revealed that more special guests will be announced within the weeks leading up to the show.
The one-night affair will take place on Sept. 28 at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre.
Tickets for the show will go on sale beginning today, Sept. 5. According to the release, 100% of the profits from “George Fest” like it has been dubbed, will be donated to Sweet Relief, a charity that offers financial assistance to struggling musicians.
News of the tribute concert comes on the heels of Harrison’s estate announcing plans to reissue the musician’s first six solo albums. The reissues will include several unreleased tracks as well as alternate versions of the songs that had been previously released.
The George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-1975 box set is set to be released on Sept. 23, just a week or so before the star-studded concert is set to take place.
