All Time Low are back to prove they’re ‘Some Kind of Disaster’

Hold onto your side-swept bangs kids, ’cause we have a brand new song from All Time Low.

On Tuesday (Jan. 21), the Baltimore-founded band finally unleashed their first new song in almost three years. Titled “Some Kind of Disaster,” the new tune seems to find the band leaning more into their newer, grown-up sound as opposed to reverting to their earlier pop-punk-centric melody (which, we’ve gotta admit, we miss).

Like with all their other eras, the four-piece has confirmed that the “Young Renegades are no more” and that “your favorite disasters” are back.

“The Young Renegades are no more… Reintroducing your favorite disaster, All Time Low,” the band posted on social media.

“We took a step away for a minute- did some growing, did some soul searching, some healing… Now we’re back and ready to be all yours again, our battle scars worn proudly, and our hair looking better than ever. (It’s best if you just agree).”

They continue: “We’ve missed you all so much, and we’re so excited for what comes next. Feels like we’ve been keeping secrets from you for way too long… Been hard to keep our mouths shut, honestly. It’s a song and dance we’ve done a thousand times before, but this one feels extra-good. Besides, it’s never the same dance twice. Hope you dig this new song as much as we do… After all, it’s all for you.”

To coincide with the new song’s release, the group also unveiled its accompanying music video.

The four-minute clip finds the gang in an AA-style meeting with everyone’s issue clearly displayed on their name tag. We have a “liar,” a “critic,” and a “cynic,” you know adjectives taken directly from the song’s lyrics (and many All Time Low songs honestly).

During the meeting, we watch the guys, as well as other people, perform the typical exercises that you expect from these kinds of gatherings like talking, trust fall, breathing, and something that really looks like choreographed dancing. Yeah, we’re confused as well.

Watch the Lewis Carter-directed clip above.

“Some Kind of Disaster” is the first new song from All Time Low since 2017’s Last Young Renegades. The album was met with mixed reviews, but we’ve got to admit that we enjoyed grown-up All Time Low.

After being away for such a long time (not really), it looks like the band is ready to get right back on the horse (metaphorically because this is All Time Low).

The foursome recently announced three intimate shows due to take place next week. Dubbed “All Time low Live for $5,” the appearances include Brighton Music Hall in Boston on Jan. 28, Bowery Ballroom in New York on Jan. 30, and the Ottobar in Baltimore on Jan. 31. Tickets for those shows go on sale today at 3 p.m. ET.
