Listen: Selena Gomez re-releases ‘Rare’ with three new songs

Selena Gomez’s latest studio album may have JUST come out, but the pop star is already releasing a deluxe edition of the record.

On Thursday (April 9), the “Lose You to Love Me” singer unleashed the deluxe version of Rare. The updated version of the album features all 13 tracks that can be found on the January release as well as three new songs. The new additions are titled “Boyfriend,” “She,” and “Souvenir.”

According to a post on Instagram Stories (via Elle), the musician describes “Boyfriend” as “a lighthearted song about falling down and getting back up time and time again in love, but also knowing that you don’t need anyone other than yourself to be happy.”

Gomez reveals that the song was written well before the current pandemic and that having a boyfriend is nowhere near the top of her priority list (nor should it be at the top of anyone’s list).

“We wrote it long before our current crisis, but in the context of today, I want to be clear that a boyfriend is nowhere near the top of my list of priorities. Just like the rest of the world, I’m praying for safety, unity, and recovery during this pandemic.”

Instead, she announced that she will be donating to the Plus 1 COVID-19 Relief Fund in addition to giving $1 from every order that’s placed on her website.

Rare (Deluxe) is currently available on Spotify and Apple Music.

Selena Gomez Confirms Lupus Diagnosis

Back at the end of 2013, several rumors began to surface when pop star Selena Gomez cancelled the Australian and Asia legs of her “Star Dance Tour” just a few weeks shy of the tour kicking off. At the time, the rumors ranged from it having to do with her off-again-on-again boyfriend Justin Bieber to her battling Lupus, an autoimmune disease that attacks the tissues and organs which leaves the person tired, depressed, and achy.

Now, several years and a brand new album later, Gomez has revealed in a recent interview with Billboard that the rumors of her battling Lupus were true. “I was diagnosed with Lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” Gomez said.

Around the same time that the Lupus rumors began, others started that the cancellation of the tour happened because she had entered a rehab center. “I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re a–holes.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again,” she told the publication.

At the time of the cancellation, Gomez’s management never responded to the Lupus rumor. Instead, the management team and Live Nation claimed that she needed a break from her non-stop touring schedule.

But that didn’t stop a supposed “close friend” of the singer’s from “confirming” to the Hollywood Life short after that she did indeed suffer from Lupus, According to the “source,” Gomez wanted to keep it a secret from everyone because she was embarrassed.

“Selena will not be happy that this is out there, she really wanted to keep this to herself,” the source said to HollywoodLife.com. “She doesn’t want it to affect people’s opinions of her and what she’s capable of. This is her own personal business and she wants to keep it that way.”

“She is embarrassed by it,” the source continued. “But her family and friends always tell her that they love her just the same.”

But things are beginning to look up for the pop star. Her new album, Revival, is scheduled to be released this Friday (Oct. 9) which features hit singles “Good For You” and “Same Old Love.” In support of the new music, she will also head out on the “Revival Tour” which she announced on social media last week. The tour will first hit North America before hoping across the pond.

Selena Gomez Covers Corinne Bailey Rae

image

Drama might be a word associated with former Disney star and current pop star Selena Gomez as of lately, but that doesn’t mean that’s all there is to her.

For weeks now, things have been rocky at best for the actress-singer, from her on-and-off again relationship with Justin Bieber,  to her stint in rehab to firing her parents as her managers and most recently deleting everyone from her Instagram and Twitter feed following a reportedly crazy weekend at Coachella with those spawns whose names start with Ks.

Even though her personal life might be a mess, her professional life is pretty much on track with recent news of her hiring Katy Perry’s management team last week and even began updating her Facebook with scenes from her shoots for sportswear company, Adidas.

Earlier today (April 30), Gomez posted up two 15-second clips of herself covering Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Like a Star” with moody sepia filter and all.

Check out the covers and tell us if you think she did the songbird justice.

Selena Gomez and the Two Week Secret Rehab Stint

gomez9n-4-web

Selena Gomez seems to be the only child star to be making the leap to adult star without any major issues, but looks can be deceiving apparently.

Today, Gomez’s publicist revealed that the former Disney darling had checked herself into rehab for two weeks last month. According to her publicist, she did not check into the facility for substance abuse, like most media outlets would assume was the route cause.

Instead, they said that the singer checked in voluntarily for some “peace and therapy.” Gomez checked into The Meadows in Arizona for two weeks for treatment in their DAWN program. The DAWN program is targeted towards 18 to 26-year-olds for substance dependence, trauma, family dynamics, mental health and relapse prevention.

But while the publicist is singing this tune, TMZ is reporting just what everyone would assume lead to this decision, drugs.

Sources say Selena went into the facility for a combination of problems, including alcohol, pot and prescription Ambien. The source also claims that she’s addicted to Justin Bieber, why, we don’t want to know.

The secret rehab stint follows her announcement in December that she was canceling the Australian leg of her tour to take some time off. At the time, rumors were claiming that she had a drug addiction and was heading into rehab, or that she was fighting lupus, like we had written up, but Gomez just said she needed some time off.

This isn’t the first time she had gone into a rehab facility. When best friend Demi Lovato was in rehab, Gomez stayed with her during the hard times.

No matter what, she seems to be dong fine since just last week, she tweeted a picture of herself in the studio with the caption reading, “Therapy.”

Selena Gomez Battling Lupus?

gomez9n-4-web

Selena Gomez might have actually had some real reason to cancel her tour just a few weeks before it was supposed to begin in other parts of the world. Reports have surfaced today that the former Disney Channel star suffers from Lupus, an autoimmune disease that attacks the tissues and organs which leaves the person tired, depressed and achy.

When Gomez had initially announced that the upcoming Asian and Australian legs of her Star Dance Tour had been cancelled, many outlets started to speculate what would be the reason behind the sudden cancellation. Some reports were claiming that it had something to do with her former beau, Justin Bieber and others had begun to claim that she was heading into rehab for some unknown reasons.

In the end, Gomez’s people and LiveNation had announced that the real reason behind her sudden cancellation was that she needed a break from her non-stop touring schedule; just a little bit of “me” time.

While several gossip site are claiming that these rumors are in fact true, Gomez nor her representatives have confirmed if the Lupus stories are actually true. A supposed “close friend” of the singer’s “confirmed” that she in fact does have the disease and as to why she had chosen to keep it a secret from her fans.

“Selena will not be happy that this is out there, she really wanted to keep this to herself,” the source said exclusively to HollywoodLife.com. “She doesn’t want it to effect people’s opinions of her and what she’s capable of. This is her own personal business and she wants to keep it that way.”

“She is embarrassed by it,” the source continued. “But her family and friends always tell her that they love her just the same.”

In the end, if the Lupus rumor does in fact end up being confirmed by her people, there would be no reason for the singer to be embarrassed by her health. She stood by her friend Demi Lovato when she was in rehab for a year and even had called out people on Instagram who bully others; we’re pretty sure her fans would stick it out with her.

What do you guys think, in the event that it is true?

Selena Gomez Cancels Upcoming Tour

gomez9n-4-web

Sad news for Selenators living down under and in Asia; Selena Gomez’s people have confirmed that the pop star has cancelled her recently announced Star Dance Tour.

While most superstars would cote some stupid excuse like a stomach virus or some Earth-shattering sickness, the former Disney star has revealed that real reason for the cancellation is because she needs some “me” time.

The actress/singer was scheduled to have a total of 13 tour stops which included dates in Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. Her five-city tour of Australia which would have been her first time travelling there on a tour was scheduled to begin on February 1st at Perth Arena in Perth, WA and wrap up on February 8th at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” commented Gomez in a statement issued by promoter Live Nation. “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me.”

The news of Gomez’s cancellation comes two weeks after she had an almost meltdown during the annual KIIS-FM Jingle Ball concert. During the show, the singer dropped the F-bomb after some technical difficulties plagued her, and other artists as well.

Hopefully, the time off does her some good and she comes back refreshed and ready to hit the touring circuit again.

Selena Gomez and Her Naughty Jingle Ball Show

gomez9n-4-web

Things got a little hairy to say the least for Selena Gomez this past weekend during her show in Los Angeles as part of the annual KIIS-FM Jingle Ball concert.

The singer was in the middle of performing when there was an issue with her audio. Instead of taking it like a pro and just hammer out the song like fellow performer Ariana Grande who had a similar misfortune, the “Come and Get It” singer dropped an F-bomb for the entire Staples Center audience to hear and stormed off the stage.

Talk about tantrum.

After storming off, she came back on to give a slight explanation as to why she vacated the stage mid-performance, “sorry the sound isn’t working!”

She left once more, but returned just a few moment later, “Are you guys having a good night? I promise, a lot cooler people are gonna come out tonight,” she told the crowd upon her second return.

But that’s not where it all ended. She started to thank the crowd for being there and enduring her hot mess of a performance and even promised to sing two more songs.

The only problem?

She walked off the stage after just one of the two songs she promised the audience. An onlooker at the event said that Gomez was livid about all the audio trouble she was having.

Guess everybody’s entitled to one messed up show, let’s just hope this isn’t a recurring incident or else we might know how Justin Bieber rubbed off on her.

New Selena Gomez Track, Leaks

selena-gomez-sad-serenade-lead

Another day, another leaked song from Selena Gomez, but sadly this newly released track will not be featured on her upcoming album, Stars Dance. Back in June, the pop star revealed the complete track listing as well as its release date of July 23.

The new leaked song is called “Sad Serenade” and were pretty sure it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out who the song is about (come on guys, we’re only giving you one shot at this…he likes to pee in mop buckets). Anyways, the song can be heard below as well as the lyrics to the song.

SAD SERENADE LYRICS

Happier times,
Flash through my mind.
We both say it’s over and
I believe it this time.
All the pain that I hide,
Let it play through the night.

A sad, sad serenade.
Sad serenade, we almost got it right.
A sad, sad serenade.
Sad serenade, for every broken heart tonight.

All the love that we made,
Turn it up, let it play
A sad, sad serenade,
Sad serenade.

I won’t regret what I won’t forget
Memories and your number,
Are all I have left.

I wish you the best, I really do,
Even though I know that I’m still not over you.
I know that we both are to blame,
I can’t believe, you didn’t fight harder for me.

It’s a sad, sad serenade.
Sad serenade, we almost got it right.
A sad, sad serenade.
Sad serenade, for every broken heart tonight.

All the love that we made,
Turn it up, let it play
A sad, sad serenade,
Sad serenade.

The more you love, the more it hurts,
When it ends, when it’s over
All that’s left are the memories
Playing over, and over.

In your head, in your heart,
Turn it up, make it stop.
Tonight, all over the world,
The most beautiful song ever heard,

Is a sad, sad serenade,
Sad serenade, we almost got it right.
A sad, sad serenade.
Sad serenade, for every broken heart tonight.

All the love that we made,
Turn it up, let it play.

A sad, sad serenade,
Sad serenade.
A sad, sad serenade
