The Used Guitarist to Take Year-Long Break

image

The Used have just revealed that one of their member will be leaving the band. But before everyone gets up in arms about it, said member will just be leaving the band for a year.

The Utah-based band took to Facebook a little while ago to post a statement that founding member and guitarist, Quinn Allman will be taking a temporary, year-long break from the band.

Though the statement the band released about Allman’s temporary departure does not explain exactly why he had chosen to leave, though they do write something about “upcoming endeavors,” but they do reassure fans that everything is O.K. and that Saosin’s Justin Shekoski will be filling in for Allman during his absence.

Read the band’s full statement below:

The Used will be heading out on a headlining tour with Every Time I Die, Marmozets, and the Eeries beginning on April 3 at the House of Blues in San Diego and wrapping up on May 2 at the House of Blues in Cleveland.

Saosin Perform New Song During Recent Show

wpid-saosin_2014.jpeg

Saosin’s reunion last year at Skate and Surf has led to major steps forward with former vocalist Anthony Green rejoining the band for a few shows.

Late last year, the band announced the former singer would be joining them for four tour stops in early 2015, what fans probably didn’t expect was for a new song to debut live during the short reunion tour.

During their stop at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA this past Monday, the band debuted a new song live and thanks to someone backstage, we have not only the new song performed live, but we also have the complete show. The new song can be heard around the 12:30 mark.

Warning, it’s a little hard to hear Green’s vocals over all the instrumentals.

As if that wasn’t enough, somewhere in the video, Green tells the audience that Saosin will have some “new shit for you guys real soon.”

Cue the excitement of fans of the group with Green as vocalist.

While we aren’t sure about a lot things like the name of the new song (which marks the third new song with Green the band has performed), when this projected new shit will be released, or even if they will head out on tour once again, it’s something for die-hards to look forward to.

Listen to Anthony Green’s Christmas Tracks

image

The holidays are almost on our doorsteps which means that many of our favorite bands have been releasing tracks to celebrate the joyous occasion as a way to give back to those who have supported them. Bayside, Memphis May Fire, and Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams are just some who have released holiday tracks in the last week.

Now, we can add Circa Survive frontman, Anthony Green to that growing list. Green, who we are pretty sure never sleeps, release two tracks for Christmas yesterday; “Better Half’ and “Christmas Waltz.”

Both songs are featured on Green’s two-song EP fittingly titled, Winter Songs which is currently available for purchase on his Bandcamp.

Both songs can be streamed below.

As it has been said before, Green probably doesn’t know what vacation is because his first month of 2015 is already filled with tour dates.

First he’ll be going on a five-day tour with Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties (Dan Campbell of The Wonder Years) and I Can Make a Mess (Ace Enders of The Early November), and Elder Brother beginning, this Friday (Dec. 26).

Then, in mid-January, Green will re-join his former band Saosin for a four-day tour.

See, he never sleeps.

Saosin Announce More Tour Dates with Anthony Green

The Saosin reunion that fans only thought would last a couple of day will continue, at least according to the band.

At the beginning of the week, the California-based band gave clues that more tour dates featuring former vocalist Anthony Green would be revealed and yesterday afternoon, they did just that revealed a couple of more tour dates with Green at the microphone.

Earlier this year, Green gave fans of the band the biggest gift, ever, when he reunited with the band he once fronted for Skate and Surf Fest.

The newly announced tour dates feature three date in Texas while one on the West Coast.

Tickets for the show will go on sale tomorrow, Dec. 6. Check out the tour dates below.

Jan 19 – Santa Ana, CA @The Observatory
Jan 23 – Dallas,TX @ Southside Ballroom
Jan 24 – Austin,TX @ Emo’s
Jan 25 – Houston,TX @ House of Blues

With this announcement, it looks like Green has no intention of slowing down. His current band, Circa Survive, recently released their new album Descensus and are currently in the middle of a tour to support that. The tour which features support from Title Fight and Pianos Become the Teeth will wrap up on Dec. 14 in Philadelphia at Union Transfer.

When they unveiled two big reunions were planned, the excitement double. And when they finally announced that one of the reunions would feature Circa Survive frontman Anthony Green returning to Saosin, the feelings went through the roof.

Last night, the newly reunited band took the stage in Philadelphia marking the first time since Green’s departure (give or take ten years) that the full line-up has been on stage together. Thanks to footage that was recorded by someone at the show, it seems that the band treated fans to some oldies, but also two new tracks.

Saosin to Head Out on Mini-Tour with Anthony Green

saosin

Fans of Saosin, it looks like the reunion featuring former frontman Anthony Green was not just a one shot deal, because it was announced today that the original line-up will be heading out on a mini-tour.

The news of that the Circa Survive frontman would be returning to his former band broke a few months back when Skate and Surf Festival organizers revealed that Saosin would be performing with Green on vocals. For those wanting to see the original line-up, but couldn’t find a way to get to Asbury Park, NJ for the two-day festival seemed to be out of luck, but their wished just might have been answered.

All morning, there had been a rumors on the internet that the original line-up would be taking to the touring circuit with Green in tow. Green confirmed the mini-tour this afternoon when he posted on his Instagram a four-day tour schedule beginning with Skate and Surf on May 17.

For now, the other three dates on the posted schedule are all taking place in California (one in Pomona, one in Los Angeles and one in San Diego), but where else would you have a mini-tour than in your own home state?

The mini-tour and return of the original line-up comes almost eleven years after the release of their breakout EP, Translating the Name.

Skate and Surf Festival to Return Home

cCtuxfFA

When the Skate and Surf announced that they were trying to return to their original location of Asbury Park, some were wondering if the festival would be able to do so.

Turns out, they could and they did.

Festival organizers confirmed today that the music festival would be heading back home to Asbury Park, NJ; a perfect way to continue their mission on going back to their roots. Reportedly, the City of Park voted unanimously on a multi-year deal last night to bring Skate And Surf back. The unanimous vote also has allowed the festival to expand to the beach area of the town.

According to the Asbury Park Press, there will be five stages on Ocean Avenue and Bradley Park as well as a gaming interactive room will be at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel. After parties will reportedly be held at the near by clubs.

Last month, the full line-up for the show had been revealed which included Circa Survive, The Early November, Saosin with Anthony Green and of course the reunion of Midtown. Alongside the news of the location permit, five more acts had been revealed for the two-day festival as well as some squashed rumors that had been floating around.

The new additions to the line-up will include Knuckle Puck, Unlocking the Truth, Lil Dicky, Animals as Leaders, and United Nations. As for the denounced rumors, Brand New and My Chemical Romance are not performing at the festival, even though it would be a fantastic way to welcome the festival back home.

Check out the revised schedule and a map of Asbury Park to familiarize yourselves with if you’re heading to Jersey for the shows in May.

Skate and Surf Fest Announce Line Up

image

The Skate and Surf Festival had revealed a few weeks back that they would be returning to their roots with 2014’s line-up; anything to make up for the chaotic mess that was 2013’s. Turns out, they stuck to their vows with the reveal of this year’s punk/rock-inspired bill.

Last week, festival organizers had revealed the official flyer for this year’s event, but there was a catch; the actual names of the performers had been covered with duct tape.

The perfect way to troll their attendees.

Hoping to soothe the pain from their game, organizers advised fans not to worry because the tape would be removed on Monday (today).

Performers had been revealed to include Saosin with original vocalist Anthony Green, The Early November, Emmure, Hidden in Plain View, and many more including a band who pulled a similar troll, Midtown.

Late last week, Midtown’s drummer Rob Hitt, posted a picture of his drum kit on the band’s official Twitter. The picture got the ball rolling on rumors of their reunion. Turns out, that is exactly what that picture turned out to be: a clue.

Skate and Surf is set to take place on May 17 and 18 in Middletown, New Jersey. The untaped flyer can be seen below as well as ticket information which goes on sale tomorrow afternoon.
