The years of waiting have finally come to an end for Saosin fans. On Friday (May 20), the California-based band released their highly-anticipated new album, Along the Shadow. The new record not only marks the group’s first new studio album in seven years, but it also marks the reintroduction of original vocalist Anthony Green.

Over the past couple of years, the speculation/hopes of a reunion with the Circa Survive frontman had been something fans had wanted. After reuniting at Skate and Surf in 2014, the outcome was good with the band reuniting for a handful of shows and eventually a mini-tour which eventually gave way to Along the Shadow. For those who have yet to get your copy of the new record, the 11-track album (plus two bonus tracks), is currently available on Spotify. Last week, the band had allowed fans to listen to the new record in full via Pandora.

In addition to bonus tracks “Drinking From The Fountain” and “Along The Shadow Of Man,” the new record features previously released tracks “The Silver String,” “Racing Toward a Red Light,” and “Control and the Urge to Pray.”

In support of Along the Shadow, Saosin will be hitting the road this summer as one of the many bands to perform on the recently-resurrected Taste of Chaos. Tour dates for Taste of Chaos can be seen here. Along the Shadow is the follow-up to 2009’s In Search of Solid Ground.

Saosin debut ‘Control and the Urge to Pray’

In the last month or so, Saosin has not only confirmed the upcoming release of a new album, but also has given their fans two new tracks from it. On Wednesday (April 27), the California-base band debuted another new track from the impending album. “Control and the Urge to Pray” premiered exclusively on Billboard earlier in the say. The new clip, very much like “Racing Toward a Red Light” and lead single “The Silver String,” has the band performing in what appear to be a rehearsal space. Most of us can assume it’s the newly reunited band rehearing before they head out on tour this summer.

“This was a song that we knew we had to see through,” bassist Chris Sorenson told Billboard. “The demo started off very differently and we were unsure if it would fit into the way the record was shaping. But once vocals were demoed and a few things were moved around we knew that it was something very powerful.” Check out the music video for “Control and the Urge to Pray” below.

“Control and the Urge to Pray” will join “Racing Toward a Red Light” and “The Silver String” on the band’s upcoming new album, Along the Shadow. Along the Shadow is set to be released on May 20 through Epitaph Records and is the follow-up to 2009’s In Search of Solid Ground.

Saosin premiere ‘Racing Toward a Red Light’

It’s been almost a month since Saosin not only announced the release of their much-anticipated new album, but also blessed fans with a brand new song. On Wednesday (April 6), the California-founded band debuted another song from Along the Shadow. In conjunction with Noisey, Saosin released the music video for “Racing Toward a Red Light.” though the music video is very similar to the one released for lead single “The Silver String,” it doesn’t take away from the fact that we’ve gotten another new song form the band so soon.

Check out the video for “Racing Toward a Red Light” below while an interview with vocalist Anthony Green is available on Noisey‘s website.

“Racing Toward a Red Light” will join “The Silver String” on Saosin’s upcoming new album, Along the Shadow. Along the Shadow is set to be released on through Epitaph Records. Pre-orders for the new album are currently available here.

Taste of Chaos-San Bernardino lineup unveiled

image

When it was announced that Taste of Chaos would be making a triumphant return in 2015, the people behind the once-great music festival decided to keep it as a one-day event in its hometown of San Bernardino, CA. After a successful event, plans were made to take the festival back on the road, after an almost six-year hiatus. Earlier this month, it was announced that the Rockstar Energy Drink Taste of Chaos Tour would hit the road again with its last stop being where it all began; the San Manuel Amphitheater Festival Grounds in San Bernardino.

On Monday (March 28), festival organizers unveiled the list of performers set to take the stage when the festival closes out in mid-July. Previously announced bands Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, Saosin, and the Early November will perform during that last show. In addition to the previously announced four acts, bands like Quicksand, the Get Up Kids, the Starting Line, Senses Fail, the Anniversary, Hot Rod Circuit, and Reggie and the Full Effect will all take the stage during that show.

“After seeing the success of last year’s Taste Of Chaos, it was clear that there was a demand for the festival’s return. We’re excited to be able to bring this expanded music lineup to the Southern California show,” said co-founder Kevin Lyman.

“I am so happy to know fans are excited about this lineup, but I know I am the MOST excited. Dashboard Confessional gets to play for our favorite people WITH our favorite people. I cannot imagine a better way to spend the summer,” reveals Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba.

Agreeing with their soon-to-be tour mate are Taking Back Sunday who added, “It’s going to be good to be back in the company of so many bands we are both friends with and fans of.”

Taste of Chaos will arrive at the San Manuel Amphitheater Festival Grounds in San Bernardino on July 16. Tickets for the show will go on sale beginning this Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m. PT. The complete list of tour dates for the 2016 Taste of Chaos tour can be seen here.

Saosin release new video, announce new album

wpid-saosin_2014.jpeg

When Saosin announced in early February that they would be releasing a new album some time this year, we didn’t expect it to be so soon. On Wednesday (March 16), the California-based band announced that they will be releasing their highly anticipated third album on May 20. The new record will be titled Along the Shadow is the group’s first set of new songs in over six years. The new album also marks the group’s first record to be released through Epitaph Records which they signed to back in February.

While the CD and digital version of the new album will be available in May, those who want to buy the record on vinyl will have to wait a little longer. The vinyl version of Along the Shadow is set to be released on June 17. Pre-orders for the album (CD, digital, or vinyl) are currently available on the band’s website.

In addition to the new album title and official release date, the band is currently streaming the first single off of the record; a track titled “The Silver String.” The four-minute long clips can be streamed below.

With the band being formed in 2003, it’s hard to believe that Along the Shadow is the band’s first full-length album to feature original vocalist, Anthony Green. During his time in the band, Saosin only released one EP; Translating the Name. After his departure, the band enlisted Cove Reber and Green went on to form Circa Survive.

When Green left the group in 2004, there seemed to be a lot of issues that prompted his departure. But now it looks like all the old wounds have healed because we have a full-length record on the way, a full tour currently in progress, and a special appearance on the recently resurrected Taste of Chaos tour.

Along the Shadow is the follow-up to 2009’s In Search of Solid Ground.

Taste of Chaos announces first tour in over five years

image

Taste of Chaos made a triumphant return in 2015 with its one-day music festival in California and now, it looks like they are ready to conquer North America once again. On Monday (March 14), it was announced that the Vans Warped Tour’s sister festival will once again hit the road in 2016. Instead of traveling across the country in the winter which is how it earned its nickname, Winter Warped, the traveling rock show will take place during the spring/summer.

But if the plans to hit the road after six years of radio silence isn’t enough to get you to go, then the bands that will hit the road on the tour will convince you. Bands like Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, and The Early November will headline all the tour dates. Saosin, Motion City Soundtrack, and The Starting Line will also play selected dates. This will be the second full tour this year that Saosin will go on that will feature former vocalist Anthony Green on the microphone. Unlike this being good news for Saosin fans, this tour might mark the last time Motion City Soundtrack hits the road together before their indefinite hiatus.

The 2016 Rockstar Energy Drink’s Taste of Chaos tour kick-off on June 3 at the FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago and wrap up a month-and-a-half later on July 16 at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA; the place where the resurrection of Taste of Chaos all began last October. Saosin Sign with Epitaph Records, Announce New Album

wpid-saosin_2014.jpeg

Can you hear that noise? It’s the sound of Saosin fans cheering and crying over the band’s latest announcement. On Wednesday (Feb. 3), the California group took to the internet to announce several big pieces of news. To begin, the band revealed that they had signed to Epitaph Records. Then, they followed that up by confirmed that they will be releasing a brand new album, their third studio record, later this year.

Because confirming a new record and signing to a new label wasn’t enough, Epitaph posted a 30-second clip on their YouTube page which featured what sounds like a new song with the slowed-down footage of frontman Anthony Green in front of a recording studio microphone. Can you feel the chills yet? Check out the clip below.

“Making this record was such a sentimental thing for me,” explained Green about the new record. “You can literally hear us making amends with each other while lamenting on our experiences together. It was very healing and cathartic, and might be the heaviest thing I’ve been a part of since the first EP. Epitaph is a perfect fit for this band.”

In support of the good news, Saosin previously announced a short tour for March. The tour will kick off on March 11 at The Fillmore on Silver Spring, MD and wrap up on April 2 at Extreme Things in Las Vegas. Young & Heartless have been announced as Saosin’s special guest for the trek. The list of impending tour dates can be seen below.

SAOSIN SPRING 2016 TOUR DATES:

03/11 Silver Spring, MD @ The Fillmore
03/12 Norfolk, VA @ The NorVa
03/13 Charlotte, NC @ Amo’s South End
03/16 St. Louis, MO @ The Ready Room
03/18 New Orleans, LA @ Howlin’ Wolf
03/19 Grand Prairie, TX @ QuikTrip Park
03/20 Grand Prairie, TX @ QuikTrip Park
03/22 Jacksonville, FL @ Mavericks
03/23 Orlando, FL @ The Beacham
03/24 Fort Lauderdale, FL @ Revolution Live
04/02 Las Vegas, NV @ Extreme Thing

The confirmation of the new record comes more than two years after rumors began. Back in 2014, the band reunited with Green for Skate and Surf 2014 and a handful of shows. During an interview with Alternative Press, the band hinted that there might be a future with Green. Then, hints became a reality when the band, with Green, went on tour in early 2015 only to play a few new songs and confirm that they were in the process of recording a new record.

Saosin Guitarist Updates Fans After New Gig Announcement

wpid-saosin_2014.jpeg

Earlier this week, the Used announced longtime guitarist Quinn Allman would be leaving the band for a year and they had already found the perfect person to replace him; Saosin’s Justin Shekoski.

Had it been last year, fans of the hardcore band wouldn’t have worried much, but since the band, now featuring original vocalist Anthony Green, announced they would be working on new music, this new engagement has quickly become an issue.

Taking to the internet yesterday, Shekoski wrote to fans, reassuring them that even with his new gig with The Used, Saosin would continue to “write new music and work [ing] towards a great future” like the band has promised.

Read Shekoski’s full message below where he tells fans that luckily Circa Survive and The Used’s tour schedules run parallel making it easier to get some Saosin things done.

Hello Everyone,

Just played the first show with The Used. Wait, let me start over. Lots has happened. It’s been an exciting month to say the least. After a week of rehearsal, a quick (and extremely fun) Saosin tour and a long flight, I have arrived in the UK….with a new band.

As you may or may not have heard, I have been asked to join forces with The Used to play some great music and be a part of their incredible family. I’m extremely humbled by the opportunity to play alongside not only such great musicians but such excellent people. They have all been beyond welcoming.

The first show was tonight and was an absolute blast, to say the least. I can’t wait to play more shows and do what I love to do most, play music.

I also wanted to say, as far as Saosin goes, nothing’s changing. We will still be writing new music and working towards a great future. Saosin is a group of brothers that all have different things, projects and schedules going on. This will just be one more schedule to work around. Luckily, quite a bit of The Used schedule is parallel with Circa Survive. So possibly, you can see Anthony play with Circa Survive and me with The Used in the same month. I hope to see a lot of you!

Thank you for all of the support so far, I can’t wait to see all of my old friends and meet tons of new ones on the road very soon.

See you in the not so distant future,

Love,

Justin Shekoski

Early this year, Saosin reunited for a four-day tour where at one of the stops the band revealed that new music was on the horizon for them. They’ve come a long way since their reunion with Green at Skate and Surf Fest last Spring.
