Metallica, Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams to lead Chris Cornell tribute concert

The Foo Fighters, Metallica, and Ryan Adams are just some of the acts that will take the stage at the beginning of the year to honor Chris Cornell’s legacy. On Tuesday (Nov. 13), it was announced that a massive tribute event will be held in mid-January to honor Cornell almost two years after his untimely death. Titled “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell,” the concert will take place on Jan. 16, 2019 at the Forum in Los Angeles.

In addition to the previously announced acts, Cornell’s bands —Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog— were confirmed as special guest performers for the evening.

Jimmy Kimmel will host the event and special guests are expected to attend.

“We are honored to have all these amazing artists and friends come together to pay tribute to and show their love and appreciation for Chris, his music and the mark he’s left on the world.  We look forward to sharing this night with all the fans,” Cornell’s widow Vicky said in a press statement about the gathering.

Tickets for the event will go on sale beginning this Friday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. PST. Each ticket purchased for the tribute show will include a copy of Cornell’s self-titled career retrospective album.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation as well as The Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the painful and debilitating genetic disorder.

The official poster for the upcoming event can be seen below.

‘Love, Sex, Death’ with Fall Out Boy

falloutboy5f-2-web

Who would have thought this time last year that Fall Out Boy would be coming back from their indefinite hiatus with not only one brand new, full album, but that they would be heading into the studio with Ryan Adams to come up with a complete anti-Save Rock and Roll album in less than a year? Final total: two albums, one year.

If you said you saw it coming then come off it, because it was just rumors a year back that Fall Out Boy would come back from the dead let alone go on two sold out tours one including buds, Panic! at the Disco.

The new album which has been named, Pax Am Days, which will be available digitally and on a limited-edition Save Rock & Roll duo disc reissue on October 15, is proof that the band have come back better than ever. Back in July, it was reported that the four guys had taken refuge inside of Adam’s recording studio, Pax Am Studio, hence the name of the album.

During their two days, the band, plus Adams, managed to record “eight or nine” new songs that they had reportedly said sound a lot more punk than their recently released album.

For now, check out the first of many of these kind of songs, “Love, Sex, Death.”

Two New Ryan Adams Tracks Unveiled

Ryan Adams

Last week, Ryan Adams revealed two new songs at a concert in London and now, thanks to fans and all their technological equipment, fan-recorded audio from the actual performance has appeared at the Ryan Adams Archive. While the tracks don’t exactly have the best audio, fans can at least take pride in knowing that two new tracks are currently floating around.

The tracks are titled “This Is Where We Meet in My Mind,” which is more mellow and mournful while “In the Shadows,” is more bluesy. But don’t take anyone’s word on it, you can head on over to the Ryan Adams Archive and download both songs and give them a listen through.

While the songs have officially been released on the fans, there is no definite proof that either track will make it to the album that Adams supposedly has on the way.

Adams’ last album, Ashes  & Fire, was released back in 2011.
