Watch Katy Perry’s Rock in Rio Show Get All Awkward

We’ve all probably dreamed at one point in time what it would be like to meet your favorite band/artist. What would you wear? What would you say? Hell, do you even say anything to them?

Well, apparently not everyone is like that and a close encounter of the strange kind happened to Katy Perry this past weekend. The pop star was in Brazil for the Rock in Rio Festival where she performed on Sunday evening (Sept. 27). Perry, like she does at most of her shows, decided to invite a fan onstage and that’s when things took a turn for the awkward.

The fan made her way on stage looking all kinds of intoxicated. At first, Perry tried to get the girl’s name, but after several failed attempts just renamed her. Then, the fan proceeded to attempt to kiss Perry’s neck where Perry said that she might be “rolling.” Perry tried to segue into getting the fan to teacher some Portuguese which was a massive fail. And that’s just some of the craziness that went on.

All in a day’s work for any musician, we guess. Watch the video of the strange encounter below.

Rock in Rio USA Announce First Performers for Inaugural Show

rockinrio

Earlier this week, Rock in Rio, Rio’s biggest music festival announced plans to bring their huge musical party stateside. At the time of the reveal, they had promised to unveiled the list of performers within the upcoming days.

Now, some of the performers have been revealed. The inaugural Rock in Rio which will be held in Las Vegas next May, will include performances by Metallica, No Doubt, Deftones, Linkin Park, John Legend, and Taylor Swift.

The mega-fest will be making its debut the only way a festival with such a reputation could; with two weekends of music and party. The first weekend will take place May 8-9, while the second weekend will take place May 15-16 at the City of Rock MGM Resorts Festival Grounds.

Weekend-long tickets are currently priced at $298.00 GA and $498.00 VIP and are available on Ticketmaster. Considering the reputation, tickets might go fast.

The festival was made possible by the organizers’ desire to expand to the United States as well as a partnership with Cirque du Soleil, MGM Resorts International, and developer Ron Burkle of The Yucaipa Companies. According to Billboard, this newly signed deal is currently in place to hold the event once every two years between now and 2019,

But this won’t be like any other festival. According to a virtual tour released by the festival organizers, attendees will be able to walk through “streetscapes” designed to feel like the UK, Brazil, and the USA, complete with geographically appropriate food, shopping, and street art. There are also plans to get amusement park rides which will include a 400-foot zip-line which will take attendees right in front of the main stage.
