Watch: Green Day takes viewers on the road in new ‘Youngblood’ music video

Green Day is getting a leg up on the competition and giving their fans an early holiday present. On Friday (Dec. 14), the California-founded band unleashed the music video for their latest single, “Youngblood.” The two-and-a-half-minute clip gives the viewer an inside look at what happens behind the scenes when the trio are out on the road.

The music video features footage of the guys meeting fans outside of venues, hanging out backstage with their crew members and family, rehearsing their set, and of course footage of their massive shows during their Revolution Radio tour. It’s also really cool to see how a band that has been together for such a long time still act like a bunch of teenagers before, after, and during a show.

“Youngblood” is featured on Green Day’s 2016 release, Revolution Radio.

According to the band, the song was originally intended to be featured on the group’s “lost album,” Cigarettes and Valentines.

“There’s one song that was written a long time ago that’s on the new record [Revolution Radio] called “Youngblood’” and that got a facelift and new lyrics and stuff like that,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told NME in 2016.

While it has been several years since the iconic punks released new music, it looks like things may be changing soon. During an Instagram live stream, Armstrong revealed that he was currently in the process of writing new Green Day music.

“I’m writing new songs for gd now,” the frontman revealed on the live stream.

Even if new music may not see the light of day in 2019, fans have become suspicious that the act may have something up their sleeves. Following several posts on social media showing the band rehearsing Dookie and Insomniac in full, fans have begun speculating that they may embark on an anniversary tour in 2019.

Only time will tell.

Watch Green Day channel their past with ‘Revolution Radio’

With the North American leg of their Revolution Radio tour on the horizon, Green Day has taken a break from their live shows to give fans a new music video. On Tuesday (June 13), the California-founded band released the music video for their latest single, and album’s title track, “Revolution Radio.” The music video combines archival footage and new footage of the band performing at 924 Gilman Street, the Berkeley punk venue where the group formed.

About two minutes into the clip, there is a blink-and-you-miss-it reference to the band’s original name, Sweet children, which appear painted in white on a wooden plank. Even with the almost 30-year difference and some changes like the guys’ hair color and age, some things do remain the same like 924 Gilman Street’s interior is the same and Green Day can still put on a show. “Revolution Radio” is featured on Green Day’s recently released record by the same name. The record was released last October through Reprise Records and instantly earned the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

In support of Revolution Radio, Green Day will hit the road this summer for a massive summer tour. The North American leg of the Revolution Radio tour will kick off on Aug. 1 at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington and wrap up on Sept. 13 at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, California. United Kingdom-founded act, Catfish and the Bottlemen, will open for Green Day during the full excursion. Green Day announces ‘Revolution Radio’ summer tour

To say the final months of 2016 were a good couple of months for Green Day may be an understatement. In August, they announced plans to release their twelfth studio album and a month later released said album. Then, a few days before the album’s official release, the band revealed a lengthy tour schedule that would find them touring through the rest of 2016 and straight into 2017.

On Monday (Jan. 9), the California punks announced plans to keep the “Revolution Radio” tour going straight through the summer. Green Day’s “Revolution Radio” summer tour will kick off on Aug. 1 at the White River Amphitheatre and wrap up on Sept. 13 at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, Calif. According to reports, a couple of more tout dates will be announced including a stop at Wrigley Field in Chicago and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Hitting the North American road alongside Green Day for the 24-date tour will be United Kingdom act, Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Members of Green Day’s Idiot Nation will get the opportunity to buy pre-sale tickets beginning this Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. local time. General public ticket sales will go on sale beginning this Friday, Jan. 13. VIP packages will be available for all the newly added tour stops.

On Tuesday, Jan. 10, Green Day will begin the European leg of the “Revolution Radio” tour. Their first stop will take place at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy. Green Day releases music video for ‘Still Breathing’

Fresh off giving two outstanding performances at the MTV European Music Awards, Green Day has offered fans the music video for their latest single. On Monday (Nov. 7), the California-based band released the music video for their melancholy track, “Still Breathing.” Staying true to the sad tones of the song, the video follows a several people, including band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool, at a low point in their day. “Still Breathing” is featured on Green Day’s recently released record, Revolution Radio. The new album, the band’s 12th, earned the group the top spot on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, Alternative Albums chart, and Top Rock Albums chart.

Last month, the band announced a new set of tour dates to their “Revolution Radio” world tour. The new dates are set to kick off on March 1, 2017 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, AZ and wrap up a little over a month later on April 8, 2017 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA. Green Day announces tour with Against Me!

Days after releasing their highly anticipated 12th studio album, Green Day has returned with more good news for their longtime fans. On Monday (Oct. 10), the California punks announced the addition of more tour dates for their current “Revolution Radio” world tour. The trek, which officially kicked off last month in Ohio, will find the trio returning to North America in 2017. The newly added North American dates will kick off on March 1, 2017 at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, AZ and wrap up a little over a month later on April 8, 2017 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA.

Florida-founded punk band Against Me! will join Green Day for the full month-long excursion. Tickets for the new tour stops will officially go on sale beginning this week. Members of Green Day’s Idiot Nation will be given the opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public. Idiot Nation pre-sales will begin this Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 9 a.m. local time. Once the Idiot Nation pre-sales conclude, the general public will be able to purchase tickets. General ticket sales will begin this Friday, Oct. 14. Green Day reschedule cancelled tour stops

A week after having to cancel the first four stops of their upcoming new tour, Green Day has unveiled the official rescheduled dates. On Monday (Sept. 26), the California punks revealed the new dates for three of the four cancelled show. Instead of the tour kicking off with the band visiting Chicago, Detroit, and St. Louis, the tour will now conclude with those rescheduled stops.

Instead of playing Chicago’s the Aragon Ballroom last Wednesday, Sept. 21, the band will play Chicago on Oct. 23. The Detroit stop has been rescheduled from last Saturday, Sept. 24, to Oct. 24 while the North American trek will wrap up with the band’s performance St. Louis’ The Pageant on Oct. 26. As per the band’s statement last week, “tickets will be honored at the new dates.” Check out the newly rescheduled tour dates below.

Last week, the band broke the news that the first four stops of the much-anticipated, intimate fall tour would be cancelled due to the band, and crew, becoming ill. “Green Day regretfully must postpone three of the first four dates of their upcoming tour and must cancel the Toronto appearance, all due to illness affecting several members of the band and its crew,” the band’s statement read. As the post claimed, three of the four dates were rescheduled with the exception of the Toronto stop.

The tour, which will officially kick off tonight at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH, is in support of Green Day’s upcoming 12th studio album, Revolution Radio. Revolution Radio will officially hit stores on Oct. 7 through Reprise Records.

Green Day prove they’re ‘Still Breathing’ on new track

A couple of days after being forced to cancel several tour stops, Green Day has returned to give those fans some good news. On Friday (Sept. 23), the California punks released a third song from their upcoming record, Revolution Radio. The new track is titled “Still Breathing” and unlike their previously released tracks, it seems to be more mellow in sound, but not in lyrics. Listen to “Still Breathing” below.

“Still Breathing” will join lead single “Bang Bang” and title track “Revolution Radio” on the group’s forthcoming album. In a recently track-by-track analysis courtesy of Rolling Stone, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained how the song was a little “heavy” for him and that usually when songs get like that, he either runs from it or dives in. In this instance, it seems like he went head first into the new track.

“That was a very heavy song. Sometimes I run away from being too heavy,” Armstrong begins. “[But] Sometimes it just comes out that way. The chorus, ‘I’m still breathing on my own’ alludes to the fact that ‘at some point, we’re all going to have to be on life support.’ As time goes on, your thoughts get darker.”

In a separate interview with Rolling Stone, the frontman was asked if he thought that fans would assume that “Still Breathing” was about his addiction problems from a few years ago.

“I’d rather write something where my eyes are forward, not so much internal,” the musician explained to Rolling Stone in the separate interview. “I hope it makes people happy and creates a difference in some way, just by people recognizing themselves in the song.”

“Still Breathing” will join previously released tracks “Bang Bang” and “Revolution Radio” on the band’s 12th studio album. Green Day cancel upcoming shows due to illness

Green Day was set to begin an extensive tour schedule this week, but it looks like things aren’t going as planned. On Sunday (Sept. 18), two days before their intimate North American tour was set to kick off, the punk band announced that the first four stops have been cancelled. In a letter released to fans, they explain that the cancellation was “due to illness affecting several members of the band and its crew.” Three of the four cancelled stops will reportedly be rescheduled while the remaining stop has been cancelled indefinitely.

The three dates that will be rescheduled include: St. Louis, MO (Sept. 20) at The Pageant; Chicago, IL (Sept. 21) at the Aragon Ballroom; and Detroit, MI (Sept. 24) at the Fillmore. The only show from those cancelled that will not be rescheduled will be the group’s appearance at the World Cup of Hockey Fan Village on Sept. 23 in Toronto. Watch Green Day get framed for a bank robbery in ‘Bang Bang’

A week after unveiling a second song off of their upcoming 12th studio record, Green Day has returned. On Tuesday (Sept. 13), the California punks unleashed the music video for the album’s lead single, “Bang Bang.” The Tim Armstrong-directed clip kicks off with a trio of bank robbers staking out a bank. Like true bank robbers, they enter the bank dressed in gray jumpsuits and masks that look like the guys from Green Day.

As the trio hold up the bank, the footage cuts to the real Green Day performing inside of what appears to be a dimly lit house. As the band performs in the house, the robbers go about having the tellers fill up their backpacks with cash. As the trio makes a run for it to their getaway Jeep, the news begins to report that Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool robbed the bank, though the viewer knows better. Revolution Radio marks the first set of new tunes from Green Day since the release of 2012’s Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! trilogy. Green Day releases ‘Revolution Radio’ lyric video

A few days after announcing a massive tour, Green Day has returned with another new song off their impending record. On Friday (Sept. 9), the California punks released the second single, and title track, from their new record, “Revolution Radio.” Listen to the new song/watch the lyric video on the band’s Facebook page here.

Last month, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong sat down with Kerrang! to discuss the new album and what inspired it. Like many of their past songs, the album was inspired by what is going on in politics and in general in the United States, especially the fact that a certain millionaire could possibly become the next president.

“The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are. I actually feel bad for them, because they’re poor, working-class people who can’t get a leg up. They’re pissed off and he’s preyed on their anger. He just said: ‘You have no options and I’m the only one, and I’m going to take care of it myself.’ I mean, that’s fucking Hitler, man,” Armstrong told the publication.

In addition to the presidency race, Armstrong also revealed that the Black Lives Matter movement and his stint in rehab also influenced several of the songs on the group’s 12th studio album.
