Alexisonfire’s Mystery Announcement Revealed

After giving fans the biggest surprise on Friday with a brand new Instagram account and a photo that was updated on every single social media account associated with them, Alexisonfire have finally revealed their “BIG NEWS”: they’ll be reuniting.

Now, before we get too ahead of ourselves and give everyone high hopes of a massive tour, the band posted an image on Twitter (and probably every other social media account of theirs) with a list of festival names which they will be performing at.

One of the stops includes Riot Fest Toronto. Coincidentally, or not, festival organizers had announced the Riot Fest dates the day prior to Alexisonfire’s big tease.

The other festivals on the list include: Heavy Montreal (Aug. 7-9), Reading and Leeds (Aug. 28-30), SONiC BOOM and X-Fest (Sept. 5-6) and of course Riot Fest (Sept. 19-20).

While most of the festival dates are for Canadian and British festivals fans of the band in the United States shouldn’t worry that much. On the image that they posted today, it had “USA- TBA.” This TBA must come as a relief to American AOF fans because their farewell tor completely neglected the US, but did go to places like Australia and Brazil.

Now the big question becomes, what United States festivals are going to be graced by the newly reunited Canadian band? Some are saying Riot Fest Denver and Chicago are likely candidates and we could see that happening. After all, AOF frontman Dallas Green did perform at all three of Riot Fests last year with City and Colour.

Give us your guess.

Slipknot New Members Unmasked?

wpid-slipknot_the_negative_one.jpeg

Have the identity of the new members of Slipknot been revealed?

Well, if you believe all the rumors and the recently released clues, it might just be true.

For the past few months, since the announcement of the metal band’s new album, Corey Taylor and company have managed to keep the identity of the two newcomers under lock and key even with two music videos already released and several interviews.

Today, it would seem that the identity of the drummer who would take the drumset that once belonged to longtime and recently outed member, Joey Jordison was unveiled.  The position, reportedly went to Jay Weinberg, son of E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg and former drummer for Against Me!.

Against Me! frontwoman, Laura Jane Grace kind of ousted the drummer’s identity (as well as a feud, we assume) a little while ago.

Grace wrote the following on Twitter.

Considering the drummer did quit the band through Twitter, we can understand why Grace is not exactly giving a glowing endorsement for the stickman and his new gig.

As for who is under the mask in the position left behind by the late Paul Gray, it was revealed last week that Alessandro “Vman” Venturella, guitar technician for Mastodon and Krokodil guitarist would be filling the vacancy that was temporarily filled by Donnie Steele following the passing of Gray.

Slipknot have yet to confirm the identities. One thing we know for sure, is that their new album .5: The Gray Chapter is expected to be released on Oct. 28.

The Pixies Announce New Bassist

Pixies_Vancouver_May3-27

Looks like the days of the Pixies having bassists named Kim are done and over with.

Today, the band announced that they had once again filled the vacancy in their line-up.

And who might that lucky person be? Well, the remaining member of the Pixies decided on A Perfect Circle’s Paz Lenchatin to take over during their upcoming tour.

About two weeks ago, it was reported that the band had released their fill-in bassist and frontwoman of The Muffs, Kim Shattuck. Shattuck actually took onto her Facebook account to reveal the news saying that she was, “super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.”

Shattuck had taken over the vacancy left when original bassist, Kim Deal decided that it was in her best interest to leave the band back in July.

At the time, no one knew what was the reason behind Deal’s departure especially since the band was in the midst of recording some new material. According to the band’s manager, Deal just didn’t want to do any of the things that were needed to support new material such as touring and decided to resign from the band.

Of course, that’s one of the reason that the remaining members were starting to scurry to find a replacement because their upcoming tour is scheduled to begin on January 15.

But announcing that Lenchatin had been chosen was not the only news that they had revealed today. They also released a music video for the song, “Another Toe in the Ocean” which is featured on their recently released EP, EP-1.

Check out the full music video below and don’t forget to check out the full schedule for their tour dates. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see them before they need another new bassist.
