To say Donald Glover’s 2018 has so far been packed with nothing but good things would be an understatement. His hit show on FX, Atlanta, just kicked off its second season. He’s playing Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story film which is set to hit theaters in May. And we cannot forget the slew of Grammys he won earlier this year. With already so much accomplished within the first couple of months of the year, it would be kind of hard to follow it up.
On Monday (March 5), Glover announced that his musical alter-ego, Childish Gambino, will hit the road in the fall for a short, 13-stop tour. Taking to social media, Glover simply wrote: “childish gambino 2018 tour.”
The month-long excursion will kick off on Sept. 6 at the Infinite Energy Arena in Atlanta and conclude on Sept. 30 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Hitting the road alongside Glover for the trek will be hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd.
Tickets for the shows will go on sale to general public beginning this Friday, March 9, at noon local time. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, March 6, at noon local time. American Express Card Members pre-sales will conclude on Thursday, March 8, at 10 p.m. local time.
The tour announcement comes hot on the heels of Glover announcing plans to retire his musical alter-ego once he releases his fourth studio album. As of now, only the release time frame and record label for the new album have been confirmed. Glover’s new album should be released by the end of 2018 through RCA Records.
The yet-to-be-titled record will be the follow-up to 2016’s Awaken, My Love!
