The Used Part Ways with Longtime Guitarist

Back in February, The Used announced that longtime guitarist, Quinn Allman would be taking a yearlong break from the band. At the time, it was just a break and fans were led to believe that Allman would return to the group once his break was over. During that time, they had enlisted help from Saosin guitarist, Justin Shekoski, to fill in the vacancy.

On Thursday (Nov. 19), The Used officially announced Allman was no longer in the band and that Shekoski will be filling in the vacancy. Taking to Facebook, the band wrote that they thank the guitarist for all the “beautiful memories” and that it was all a result of “mutual understanding.” The Used’s complete statement about the departure can be seen below.

“Nothing can ever change, or detract from the magic of the relationships that helped create the music that is The Used. For these beautiful memories, we will be forever grateful. As a result of mutual understanding, Quinn will not be returning to the band and Justin Shekoski will be taking his place. The journey so far has been amazing and we continue to feel very positive about what lies ahead in the future. As always, can’t wait to see you on the road!”

As of now, only frontman Bert McCracken and bassist Jeph Howard remain as the only founding members of the Utah band. In a happy twist, the band revealed earlier this week that they will be hitting the road in 2016 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the group’s formation. During the tour, they will before two-night events in each city where during the first night they will play their self-titled debut album and on the second night they’ll play their sophomore album, In Love and Death.

The Used have just revealed that one of their member will be leaving the band. But before everyone gets up in arms about it, said member will just be leaving the band for a year.

The Utah-based band took to Facebook a little while ago to post a statement that founding member and guitarist, Quinn Allman will be taking a temporary, year-long break from the band.

Though the statement the band released about Allman’s temporary departure does not explain exactly why he had chosen to leave, though they do write something about “upcoming endeavors,” but they do reassure fans that everything is O.K. and that Saosin’s Justin Shekoski will be filling in for Allman during his absence.

The Used will be heading out on a headlining tour with Every Time I Die, Marmozets, and the Eeries beginning on April 3 at the House of Blues in San Diego and wrapping up on May 2 at the House of Blues in Cleveland.
