Scott Weiland Impostor Reportedly in Stone Temple Pilots Cover Band

wpid-scott_weiland.jpeg

As if the Scott Weiland impersonator wasn’t good enough to pass for the former Stone Temple Pilot frontman in prison, it turns out he actually played in a Stone Temple Pilots cover band.

Considering his past at portraying Weiland, it might not come as that much of a shocker that he did the same when he was busted last month for shoplifting at a pharmacy and then charged with both shoplifting and being in possession of methamphetamine.

On Facebook, Hurley had written about participating in a Stone Temple Pilots tribute show at the Roxy in Hollywood, though TMZ, who originally broke the news that the real Weiland was not arrested, noted that the band might have not quite existed yet.

Hurley was arrested back in July and last week, the “Celebrity Arrest” made headlines when the Beverly Hill Police Department revealed to TMZ that they had had Weiland in prison for four weeks.

Following the release of the TMZ story, the gossip site received a message from Weiland, himself, straight from the studio where he was working on an album with his new band, The Wildabouts; not from the inside of a jail cell.

In the video post, Weiland sets the record straight by saying that he had just read “something very interesting, a nice piece of fiction from TMZ saying that I was in jail and had been for [four] weeks.”

“I’ve actually been touring, writing and recording my new album. Yeah, this is the studio we’re in right now. So all I have to say to our fans is whether you find it funny or interesting or whether you find it sad, don’t worry, don’t fret, it’s all a lie.”

Hurley’s real identity did not come out until Weiland posted that video, in which the BHPD performed an FBI fingerprint check which revealed his true identity. Why the police did not perform the check after the initial arrest, the world will never know.

Hurley was set to appear in court today, and we are still wondering if arrest records still has him listed as Scott Klein Weiland.

Jailed Man Claimed to Be Former Stone Temple Pilots’ Frontman

If you ever get arrest and happen to look like celebrity, claiming to be said person might come back to bite you in the rear.

That’s exactly what happened to one guy when he claimed that he was former Stone Temple Pilots’ frontman, Scott Weiland.

Last night, TMZ reported that the Beverly Hill Police Department had had Weiland in their prison since July 26 for possession of meth. The Weiland impostor had allegedly been busted by the BHPD after shoplifting some razors from a Rite Aid and then was busted for the drugs when he was searched. The supposed frontman was then locked up, with bail set at $95,000.

The problem in the story is the fact that Weiland was never arrested. The singer had been in the studio with his new band, The Wildabouts and it took a video from the studio with Weiland present for the police department to confirm the arrested man’s correct identity.

For four weeks, the man had the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department fooled.

In his video post on Facebook, Weiland calls TMZ’s report a “nice piece of fiction” and that the gossip site “will be hearing from my attorney.”

Like they’ve never heard that before.

The issue with Weiland’s threat in the video is the simple fact that the site got the news story, and evidence, from a reliable source; the police department themselves.

When TMZ received (or saw) the video from the real Scott Weiland, the site called up the police department to break the news to them that they did not arrest who they thought they did. That led to the police department to perform a “physical check” which revealed the guy was not who he said he was.

In reality, the man who had been imprisoned for four weeks was 44-year-old Jason Michael Hurley. On top of his previous charges, Hurley will also be charged with giving false information to the officers.

As of today, Hurley is still listed as Scott Klein Weiland in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center and is due in court on Tuesday, August 26.

Former As I Lay Dying Guitarist Releases Statement About Frontman’s Sentencing

asilaydying

Ever since former As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was arrest last year for the attempted murder of his wife Meggan, we have been informing you on what has been happening. From his initial arrest and first court hearing, to his sentencing last Friday and his one-on-one interview with Alternative Press’ Ryan J. Downey , which should be read, Lambesis’ trial has been one that the music world has been watching unfold.

But for anyone who felt a sliver of sympathy for the vocalist after reading the in-depth interview he gave before his sentencing, there is one person who does not feel anything for Lambesis and that person used to be one of his bandmates.

Former As I Lay Dying guitarist and current Wovenwar guitarist Nick Hipa has finally spoken out against his bandmate and he’s not at all sympathetic for him saying in his statement that he told Lambesis himself that his support would be with the victim, not the criminal.

Hipa, along with fellow bandmates Jordon Mancino and Phil Sgrosso sat in last Friday at the trial to watch as the verdict was read. The former bandmates sat along Meggan’s family and supporters as Lambesis was sentenced to six years in prison.

Read the full statement below.

“Last Friday I sat in a courtroom to support a friend. For the better part of a decade our professional and personal lives were woven in a relationship akin to family. As if family, the intention of my attendance was to publicly acknowledge the deep care and compassion I hold for this individual.

I watched as she searched for the strength to behold her transgressor for the first time in over a year since learning of his plot to have her murdered. I listened to her describe the love she once possessed for this man whom she adored, trusted, and depended on as her husband. I followed along as she detailed his abandonment of her and her children; a betrayal he failed to own but opted to blame on a lost sense of morality. This excuse became further excused by a defense that drug abuse had clouded his judgement.

She attempted to rebuild a life with three young children apart from a man who viewed them as disposable. The strength and resilience of these children—whom she saved from abandonment, poverty, and certain early death—were being further challenged by this domestic unravelling. Her desire was to give them love and stability, his response was to have her executed.

I observed his defense acknowledge the crime but defend it once again with the argument that steroids created mental instability. I followed as the prosecution reminded the court of an intricately calculated series of actions occurring over the course of many weeks. A scheme which involved using her children to secure gate codes for a would be assassin, and his plans for their further exploitation as an alibi; a plot indicative of careful premeditation over momentary mindlessness.

I watched as a Judge highlighted how many men use steroids but do not plot to murder innocent women, and for someone to move towards such action reveals something twisted within their character. He continued to point out that a willingness to involve children in such matters is deeply disturbing and reprehensible as well.

The accounts I interpreted within this courtroom were details of people and a past that I had known and observed first hand. All and everything was as I knew it to be.

I share this in response to an interview between Tim Lambesis and Ryan J. Downey that was released on AltPress.com moments after this women and her family were given their closure. Behind the facade of a penitent man with renewed outlook, restored faith, and apparent remorse is a fairly appalling agenda to further damage the lives and reputations of his non-supporters. It is the continued defense of behavior that leveled every facet of an innocent woman’s being and traumatized children who have already persevered through the actual pain of an orphan’s life.

There is no contrition in his pseudo-philosophical jargon, and the verbalized assessment of his relationship with myself and former bandmates is absolute slander. I had spoken with him directly and in length of how 100% of my heart, love, and loyalty was being directed in support towards his victims. These victims being people I had opened my heart to as family for many years and whom I pray will find healing from his deep abuse. In complete disregard for the truth as I’m certain he understands it, he opted to fabricate motives that describe us abandoning him as a callous business decision.
The intent of his defamation is to create an air of sympathy and support under the false pretense of a forthcoming tell-all. Unfortunately this has worked to a degree, as many strangers have put effort into projecting hatred towards those of us who chose to defend the guiltless subjects of his crimes.

It is regrettable that he utilized this platform as a means to justify his conduct. The prosecution of this case profiled him as a sociopathic narcissist in definite need of rehabilitation. For those of us who truly know the man for who he is, it’s shameful that in spite of all he is still as he ever was and just as they say.

For Jordan, Phil, Josh, and myself, we’ll continue to carry on knowing we behaved honorably, lovingly, and loyally to the individuals who truly needed it.”

Lauryn Hill Sentenced to Three Months for Tax Evasion

LH

Fugees singer, Lauryn Hill has been sentenced to three months in a federal prison followed by another three months of house arrest for failing to pay taxes on an estimated $1 million in earnings.

The Associated Press say that Hill delivered a strongly worded statement today, where she explains that she meant to one day pay back all the taxes that she owed, but had a hard time doing so after she withdrew from the music industry.

“I needed to be able to earn so I could pay my taxes, without compromising the health and welfare of my children, and I was being denied that,” Hill told the judge.

“I was put into a system I didn’t know the nature of,” Hill continued. “I’m a child of former slaves. I got into an economic paradigm and had that imposed on me. […] I sold 50 million units. […] Now I’m up here paying a tax debt. If that’s not likened to slavery, I don’t know what is.”

A few weeks back, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sandra Moser, called Hill’s bluff when she claimed in court that Hill had signed a deal with Sony Music which would result in a pay-day of $1 million for five new songs. Hill countered Moser’s claim saying that the  pay-day was “inaccurate” while the deal was real.

2 Chainz Arrested for Pot Possession

2Chainz and Cops

Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested last night for  Marijuana possession the van he was in was pulled over. the rapper and his entourage were on their was to a school when the vehicle they were in was caught going 79 in a 50 miles-per-hour zone. When the Maryland State Police pulled over the vehicle, there was an odor of weed and with probable cause, were able to search the vehicle. Inside, they found a backpack that had a grinder, a device used to grind marijuana so that it could be smoked, with remnants of weed in it.

The only person in the group to be arrested was 2Chainz and lets just say that he wasn’t too happy to be in that position. After being booked and released, the rapper went onto his Twitter to inform fans about what had just happened and what he thought about the incident. The interesting part about the story was the photo that was taken with two of the police officers(seen above). When the Maryland State Police was asked about who initiated the photo, 2Chainz or one of their officers, the spokesperson simply said: “We cannot confirm who initiated that at this time.”
