When the pop star was asked about the name, she confirmed that not only would the truck be making stops in different cities around the US, but that the new album would in fact be named Prism.

The first single off the album was rumored to be called “Roar” and that was also confirmed but int he form of a video that Perry posted on her Twitter showing her burn the famous electric blue wig. Also playing into the death of the Candy-fornia Katy Perry is a new video which shows her standing around, smirking as fans mourn her “California Gurls” personal.

Katy Perry Announces New Album

Katy Perry has now joined the ranks of stars who have done something different when announcing the release of her new album.

Remember those good old days when some performers would  go on music award shows (the good ones) wearing clothing which announced a new album and when it was coming out?

Well, that time has come and gone with technology, but it looks like the “California Girls” has decided to take the simplest method of revealing when her new album will be released as well as its name. Yesterday afternoon, a gold 18-wheeler was seen driving around Los Angeles announcing that her new album, Prism, would be released on October 22.

When one of her Katy-Kats took to Twitter to ask about the semi, the pop star acknowledged the semi, and revealed that it would be making stops in other cities, but that was about all the information she was willing to reveal. She did, however, encourage her legion of fans to take snap shots of the glittery truck as it passed by them.

Prism will be Perry’s “official” third album if you’re not counting the reissue of 2010’s Teenage Dreams. Teenage Dreams went on to tie Michael Jackson’s Bad for the record for most chart-topping singles from the same album and included the like of “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”.

This week has been a very good week for the pop star with her new movie, The Smurfs 2 (she voices Smurfette in case you are living under a rock or are the majority of people that didn’t go see it), hitting theaters tomorrow as well news breaking that she did some guest backing vocals on Britney Spears’ song, “Ooh La La” which will be featured on the soundtrack.

All in all, good week, Katy-Kats, good week.
