Katy Perry is back with her new music video for her latest single, “This is How We Do.”
Last week, the “California Gurl” released the lyric video for the track that gave some of us some 90s nostalgia with the lyrics typed up in graphics that remind us of our childhoods. A week after revealing that lyrics video, the pop star has given us the full, official video for the song.
The video begins with an older man looking at a painting which ends up being Perry, leading the viewer into this painting world where everything is colorful and crazy. With Pee Wee Herman-dressed dancer, Perry decked out as an iconic painting and some “Mariah karaoke” with a Mariah Carey look-a-like, it’s something that reminds us of Perry’s quirkiness.
All in all, a video that makes you want to restart your Summer all over again.
This is How We Do is the fifth single off of Perry’s recently released album, Prism. “Roar,” “Unconditionally,” “Dark Horse,” and “Birthday” were previously released.
Katy Perry might have released the most self-motivating track to date with “Roar” and one of her Katykats has taken the message to heart to be brave and tackle anything in your way.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation recently gave a little girl the chance to cover the song, but not just record the audio; she got the opportunity to make her own music video for it. Five-year-old Addy suffers from stage VI cancer and her fantasy was to be come a pop star for a day. The foundation, which help children suffering from cancer fulfill their dreams, gave Addy her wish and for one shinning day, she was a pop star and embodied the message of the song.
Katy Perry has been known for releasing some “out there” music videos (hello, “Last Friday Night”), so it should come as no surprise that the new music video for current single, “Birthday” would follow that kind of theme.
Earlier in the month, Perry had revealed her fourth single from PRISM would be “Birthday.” Along with the reveal, she uploaded a picture of her as a child with a birthday cake in front of her and an Instagram filter that had her name in balloon letters onto Twitter, sealing that the songs would be the next to hit the radio.
On Monday, she released a teaser for the video which featured a hog-podge of the worst birthday entertainers including Goldie the dancer, Yosef Shulem the MC, Kriss the clown, Ace the animal trainer and Princess Mandee. In case you couldn’t tell, all of the characters were performed by Perry herself.
When asked about why she decided to go this crazy path for her new video during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel this past Monday, Perry replied, “I was sick of making gorgeous music videos where I’m sexual. That can get boring sometimes and you need to flip it on its head.”
Katy Perry had revealed last week that her next single from her album, Prism would be “Birthday.”
The original post from last week’s “Throw Back Thursday” theme on Twitter showed a picture of a really young Perry in front of a birthday cake with a blurred out little girl next to her which turned out to be her older sister, Angela. The picture had a photoshopped “Happy Birthday” banner on it which led her KatyKats to conclude that her next single would be that track.
A week after the announcement, the lyric video for the track has been unveiled and it looks like Perry is reverting to her old Candyfornia Dreams persona. The video features her playing pastry chef, making delicious cakes inscribed with the lyrics from the song. Even a Hello Kitty cake makes an appearance.
Last week, Katy Perry teased fans by releasing a short teaser for her upcoming music video for the track, “Dark Horse.” In the video, Perry takes on the role of Cleopatra or Katy-patra with the dark hair and crazy make-up, except we don’t think Cleo wore a gaudy, jewel encrusted grill. But then again, Perry has never been one to take her videos serious.
The full video for “Dark Horse” can be seen below:
“Dark Horse” has managed to hold onto the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 for a fourth weeks, even holding off Pharrell’s super catchy, Despicable Me 2 theme, “Happy.”
So, how many Katy-patras are we going to see during her Prism Tour or Halloween?
KatyKats time to put on your dancing shoes on, because Katy Perry has just revealed the tour dates for her upcoming “Prismatic” Tour.
The pop star had been hinting at tour dates for quite sometime now, but it has become official. Ticketmaster has already posted up some of the U.S. tour stops, but it looks like a lot more will be revealed soon.
Perry’s Prismatic Tour is in support of her recently released album, Prism which officially reached the one million albums sold mark as of last week. Also joining the North American tour are Tegan and Sara as her supporting act.
Her upcoming third single has already been confirmed to be “Dark Horse” featuring Juicy J. The singer revealed the news when she unveiled the single’s album art last week. A music video for the song should be on its way soon, until then, you can check out the tour current tour dates here:

Katy Perry has been releasing her tracks from her upcoming album little by little over the past few weeks, but now the pop star has stopped it all by going ahead and letting fans stream the new album in full four days ahead of time.
Prism, which is set to officially drop this coming Tuesday, October 22 though sources are saying that it is due to be released tomorrow, will be her first new album since 2010’s Teenage Dream. Prism is composed of 13 new tracks that Perry has said are a lot more personal than her previous releases. As of now, the reviews of the album have been a little mixed, but for fans, they can go ahead and listen to the album on her site.
Before news of the stream had been made, songs that the pop star had released included lead single “Roar,” “Dark Horse,” “Walking on Air,” “Birthday” which leaked yesterday as well as “Unconditionally” which was already confirmed to be the second single to come off the upcoming album.
For now, you can go ahead and stream the full album here and let us know what you think of Katy’s new album (P.S., we might be little bit bias here since one of us is kind of a big fan of hers).
Katy Perry is definitely getting her little “Katy-Kats” excited for the release of her new album, Prism. First she gave us the catchy “Roar” and followed it up with releasing “Dark Horse.”
Last week, word on the web was that she would be releasing another new song come midnight Monday which she later did confirm.
At first, the pop star had given her fans a sneak preview of a song titled, “Walking on Air” which was later to be confirmed by the “California Gurl” herself to be the song that would be released at midnight. The song goes in another direction, going for the more club life feel than the poppy “Roar” and “Dark Horse.”
During and interview with MTV, Perry revealed that the song was written after she and a friend went rollerblading in Central Park and took off gliding while listening to house music. “I looked at [my friend] and I said, ‘I have to do a song like that'” she revealed. She also said in the same interview that one of her musical influences for the song was CeCe Peniston’s 1991 hit single, “Finally.”
At the moment, “Walking on Air” is not being shopped around as a single for Prism; it’s nothing more than a promotion track from the album.
Prism, though is scheduled to be released on October 22 through Capitol Records.
When Katy Perry debuted her new single, “Roar” last month the song title fit in well with her kitty-obsessed self. Instead of going the direction of boxing in the video, like her MTV Video Music Awards’ performance might have led some to believe, Perry decided to surprise everyone and head into the jungle for the music video of the new single.
The video starts off with the pop star and her douchebag companion getting stranded in the jungle after their aircraft crash lands, but then said companion gets eaten by a tiger (fitting, huh?) The video continues with our soon-to-be jungle princess becoming one with the animals and nature even painting an elephant’s nails.
Watch the full video below:
“Roar” will be featured on Perry’s upcoming album, Prism set to be released on October 22. It was also revealed earlier that “Roar” managed to kick Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” off of the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 after holding the top spot for 12-weeks.
Kay Perry’s new single, “Roar” has officially gotten the leak treatment after making its way onto the internet yesterday. The song, which will be featured on the pop star’s upcoming new album, Prism, was originally scheduled to premiere on Monday, August 12, but thanks to the internet and technology now-a-days, it seems that it was inevitable.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hearing a lot from Perry’s camp after being away from the limelight to work on the new album. First it was her promotional golden 18-wheeler making its way from town to town promoting the album then it was the cryptic videos showing the singer putting her Candy-fornia persona to rest as well as a snippet of this song. We also can’t forget the news that she will be featured on a track on boyfriend, John Mayer’s new album.
All in all, it looks like Ms. Katy might be coming back in full force.
Check out the audio for “Roar” below as well as the lyrics to the song.
I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agree politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me passed the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down but I got up,
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down but i got up
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, i see it now
I got the eye of the tiger the fire
Dancing through the fire, ’cause I am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee i earned the stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero
You held me down but I got up,
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down but I got up
Get ready ’cause i’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now
I got the eye of the tiger the fire
Dancing through the fire, ‘cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Roar roar roar roar roar
I got the eye of the tiger the fire
Dancing through the fire, ‘cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause i am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar
And you’re gonna hear me roar
