The purple one is making a comeback!

That’s right, Prince has announced that he will be returning to the music world with not one, but two new albums. The albums will be the highly anticipated Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum. Art Official Age will be Prince’s solo album, while Plectrumelectrum will be from his new band, 3RDEYEGIRL.

“Prince is one of just a handful of visionary artists who have truly reshaped and redefined modern music and culture,” said Warner Bros. Records Chairman & CEO Cameron Strang.

“For the past 35 years, he has never stopped evolving, challenging himself, reinventing his sound, and pushing boundaries. In true Prince fashion, he has just given us not one, but two extraordinary albums that express the incredible range and depth of his talent. All of us at WBR are immensely proud to be working with Prince to bring this brilliant new music to his legions of fans around the world, and needless to say we are thrilled to be working in partnership with him again.”
Both record are set to be released on September 30, but don’t expect it to be a joint record; the albums will be sold separately. Currently, both of them are available for pre-orders through digital retailers as well as Prince’s official website.

For those wanting to purchase the records early, the singer has revealed that fans will be able to unlock “instant grat” tracks from each record.

And that’s not even the end of the gift that is Prince. According to sources, the album releases will be marked by a series of “very special events” taking place globally. As of now, there has been no confirmation as to what exactly that means, but a confirmation should be set for soon.

Just a day after announcing he had rejoined Warner Brothers and that he had plans to release new music sometime soon, the purple one has pulled one on fans and released a new track. While taking over The Arsenio Hall Show back in February, Prince said that this song was his favorite one from the batch of new track he had been working on.

“The Breakdown” joins several previously released song including the one he performed with New Girl and She & Him frontwoman, Zooey Deschanel, “FALLINLOVE2NITE.”

With the re-signing to his former label, it was revealed that he would once again regain ownership of his back catalog while Dirty Mind, Controversy, and 1999 will continue to be licensed through the label as part of a new global agreement.

The new agreement will also mean that Purple Rain will be remastered as a deluxe, remastered edition to coincide with the 30th anniversary in June as well as his new album and “other projects set to follow.”
