Vance Joy gives P!nk’s ‘What About Us’ the acoustic treatment

Vance Joy is about to hit the road for an extensive summer tour, but before he does, he’s giving his fans a little surprise. On Thursday (May 30), the Australian singer unveiled his cover of soon-to-be-tour-mate P!nk’s hit song “What About Us.” Instead of the up-tempo and boppy song featured on the pop star’s 2017 release Beautiful Trauma, Joy went another direction by giving the tune an acoustic spin.

Listen to Joy’s cover of “What About Us” above.

Next month, the musician will join P!nk on her summertime European stadium tour. The upcoming trek will find the artists performing at venues across Europe during June, July, and August.

The trek will include stops in Liverpool, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich, and Stockholm. In addition to those dates, the tour will also feature several two-night engagements in major cities including Glasgow (June 22 and 22), London (June 29 and 30), Cologne (July 5 and 6), and Munich (July 26 and 27).

The 28-stop tour begins on June 16 at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam and concludes almost two months later on Aug. 11 at the Malieveld in the Netherlands.

The upcoming tour is in support of Joy’s sophomore effort, 2018’s Nation of Two. The record features two current radio hits “Saturday Sun” and “Lay it on Me” which he named his 2017 tour after.

Joy’s “Lay it on Me” 2017 United States-centric headlining tour sold out immediately after going on sale. Last year’s Nation of Two World Tour found the musician performing at several world-renowned venues even selling out the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

Listen: P!nk covers ‘A Million Dreams’ for ‘The Greatest Showman’ tribute album

“The Greatest Showman” is by far one of the year’s biggest hits. Both the film and its accompanying soundtrack have broken several records and won several awards. All this and 2018 hasn’t even ended. Because of its surprise accomplishments, Atlantic Records announced in early October plans to reissue the film’s soundtrack with some of music’s biggest stars taking on the film’s tunes.

On Wednesday (Oct. 24), P!nk released her contribution to the tribute album. The “What About Us” crooner was given the soundtrack’s second track, “A Million Dreams.” Originally recorded by Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, and Ziv Zaifman, P!nk stays true to the film’s version of the song with piano, guitar, an orchestra, and a lot of heart and emotion.

In addition to P!nk’s cover of “A Millions Dreams,” the reprise of the song was also released. As previously reported, the “A Million Dreams (Reprise)” was performed by the singer’s seven-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart. Listen to the “A Million Dreams (Reprise)” here.

As if the two songs wasn’t enough to get your fix, a behind-the-scene video of the mother-daughter duo recording their songs was also released. In the video, P!nk is seen cheering on her daughter, mouthing the lyrics to the song, and thanking the guys behind the movie/soundtrack for making this film.

“I grew up listening to ‘Annie’ and no one has done this for me, for my heart since I was a little girl,” Pink says in the clip. “And to have her finally have something like this…you made our favorite movie ever.”

Watch the behind-the-scenes footage here.

P!nk and Willow are joined by a diverse group of performers on the upcoming The Greatest Showman — Reimagined album. The record also features Panic! at the Disco, Kelly Clarkson, Kesha, Missy Elliot, Pentatonix, Sara Bareilles, and more.

Panic! at the Disco will give their own spin to the film’s opening track, “The Greatest Show,” while Kelly Clarkson will take on Jenny Lind’s tear-jerking track, “Never Enough.” The revamped soundtrack will also include a special version of the album’s breakout track, “This is Me,” performed by the film’s breakout star Keala Settle, Kesha, and Missy Elliott.

In addition to the ten tracks, the album will also feature four bonus songs. The bonus tracks will include a capella group Pentatonix’s take on “The Greatest Show,” Kesha’s “This is Me,” and an acoustic version of “Rewrite the Stars” by the film’s star Zendaya.

The Greatest Showman – Reimagined will arrive on Nov. 16 through Atlantic Records.

Pre-orders for the forthcoming release are currently available here.

The reimagined version of the album was produced by the soundtrack’s songwriters Grammy, Tony, and Academy Award-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

P!nk and Dallas Green Unveil New Project

Dallas Green and P!nk have teamed up on a new project named You + Me.
The pop star announced the new project early this morning with a tweet reading, “Here’s my new baby” with a link to a website.

On the website, fans of the badass singer and the City and Colour frontman were given more information about the act including the release date for their debut record, Rose Ave. which is set to drop on Oct. 14 through RCA Records.

Also on the page is the act’s new song, and most likely lead single, “You and Me.”

Check out the song below.

Pre-orders for the CD or MP3 are currently up as well as a pre-order for a limited edition vinyl. Now, we’d like to know how this duo teamed up and decided to make new music because it seems like it would be such an interesting story. Or maybe not, we’re not sure.

Then again, this isn’t the first time that the P!nk has teamed up with the frontman of a band to record a song. Last year, she teamed up with fun. frontman, Nate Ruess for one of her radio staples, “Give Me a Reason.”

Watch the 2014 Oscar Performances

If you were the small percentage that did not tune in to see the Oscars, then don’t worry, it was long and boring except for the parts that host Ellen DeGeneres was on-screen including making fun of people, giving out pizza and crashing Twitter with “The Worlds Most Retweeted” picture.

During the show, several artists took to the stage to perform their Oscar nominated songs. Pharrell with his Smokey the Bear hat took to the stage for the Despicable Me 2 theme and radio hit, “Happy” with a group of dancer. The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O. and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig performed “The Moon Song” from Her while U2 paid tribute to Nelson Mandela with “Ordinary Love” from Mandela. Idina Menzel got in touch with Snow Queen, Elsa to perform “Let it Go” from Frozen after John Travolta-gate.

With the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz is upon us and P!nk was asked to honor it by performing “Over the Rainbow.” Bette Midler sang “Wind Beneath My Wings” as part of the ‘In Memorium’ for all the fallen heroes of Hollywood.

Tegan and Sara Cover P!nk

Tegan and Sara Quin

Tegan and Sara had a killer 2013 and it looks like the sister duo are showing no signs of slowing down in 2014.

Last week, it was announced that they would be heading out on tour with “California Gurl” Katy Perry on her upcoming ‘Prismatic’ Tour as the supporting act on a big chuck of the tour.

But that’s not where their connection to some of today’s pop stars end. Recently, they performed “Just like a Pill,” one of P!nk’s hit songs, right in front of the bad ass pop star.

Talk about lots of pressure.

The performance was part of Billboard Women In Music 2013 event. In the beginning of the video Sara reveals how they were honored to be given the chance to cover the song and even describes how she felt when she first saw the music video for the song.

The intro speech is hilarious and serious at the same time and the cover is really good, so check it out below.

Surprise Performers Confirmed for the Grammys

The Grammys have revealed some of the performers that will be taking the stage at the annual music award show, but the biggest surprise on the list comes courtesy of some French DJs who like to wear helmets.

Can you guess who it is?

Well, we aren’t going to give you enough time to guess because the biggest shock on the list is that Daft Punk will be taking the stage to perform. This will be the first time in six years that the electronic duo will be performing on live television; the last time they performed on the show was in 2008 with Kanye West.

Since the release of Random Access Memories, the duo really haven’t done any public performance even though they did appear briefly on stage during the MTV Video Music Awards, but it was just to promote their newest single “Lose Yourself to Dance.” The Recording Academy is billing Daft Punk’s appearance as an “exclusive” one, so who knows, maybe it is.

Also confirmed to take the stage is Kendrick Lamar who is nominated for seven awards including “Album of the Year” for Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, “New Artist” as well as “Best Rap Performance” for “Swimming Pools (Drank).” Imagine Dragons who are fresh from performing a killer mash-up of their songs on the American Music Awards will once again be hitting the stage for the Grammys where they are nominated for two awards one of which is “Record of the Year.”

Grammy veteran P!nk will also appear on the award show to perform what we assume is her Grammy-nominated song, “Just Give Me a Reason” with fun. frontman, Nate Ruess.

There will also be a special Grammy Moment performance by country artists Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Blake Shelton. The performance has been described as a tribute to the Texas and Oklahoma roots of the artists.

LL Cool J will once again be returning for hosting duties during the live broadcast of the show which will take place on January 26, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. CBS will be airing the event live starting at 8 p.m. EST.

Old Kanye West Audio Released

By now, we should not be shocked by the things that come from Kanye West’s mouth; from the way that he acts which screams, “massive ass” to the way he treats paparazzi when they ask him a simple “how are you” question, we all know he’s the king of the asshats.

After the official announcement was made about the nominees for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift hit the Twittersphere to announce her nominations while making reference to her run-in with Kanye on that infamous night in 2009.

In the tweet, the pop star says: “Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time ;).” Turns out, that was all the ammunition someone needed to release an alleged audio file of the rapper ranting about why he interrupted Swift on that stage.

The person who possessed the audio file shared it with Gawker and claim that it was recorded while the rapper was at dinner with friends at the Corner Bistro in New York, right after the 2009 VMAs. In the recording, you can hear someone who sounds like Kanye explain why he found it necessary to ruin Taylor’s moment.

“Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyoncé! Because I wrote my verse [to “Run This Town”] in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé. As long as I’m alive! And if I’m alive, kill me then! Kill me then! As long as I’m alive, you gon’ have to deal with it. ‘Cause there ain’t gonna be no more motherf–king Elvises with no James Browns,” he begins.

The voice then continues with complain about how his mother “got arrested for the f**kin’ sit-ins,” and died, tragically, after undergoing plastic  in 2008 “for this fame shit.”

But just when think that might have been the end of the alleged rant, the voice goes on to criticize P!nk’s performance, which was before his ta the award show. “How the f–k Pink perform two songs and I didn’t even get asked to perform “Heartless.” “Heartless” is the biggest song of the year!”

Following the incident, and a whole lot of backlash for it, Kanye repeatedly apologized to Taylor about it, but like the arrogant snotball that he is, he took it back. While being interviewed by the New York Times’ Jon Caramanica, he revealed that the apology all came as a result from peer pressure, not from the bottom of his heart.

A source close to the rapper (who by the way was not even present at this supposed dinner), claims that the recording sounds staged, but the truth of the matter is, they couldn’t confirm that it was real either. As of right, the record label has made no comment on this alleged audio file, so let’s just wait and see what happens.

Just Give Me A Reason- P!nk ft. Nate Ruess

P!nk is back with her brand new video for Just Give Me a Reason which features vocals by fun. frontman, Nate Ruess.

Also guest-starring in the video is P!nk’s husband, Carey Hart.

Got to give these two credit, they have no problem with breaking the curse of “not having your significant other in your music video.” That and P!nk is all sorts of awesome.
